@jac7124 Disagreed. Karen is being ridiculous. Yeah, Laura is being an idiot, but her husband just walked out on her. Have some sensitivity. Go take some more pills, Karen.
You would overeact to if you knew your own daughter was off somewhere with the real killer and was in severe danger. She snapped because Laura's obsession with blaming Richard was taking time away from the authorities to zoom in on the real culprit -- Chip. I would have yelled at her stupid ass too!
But as we allllllllllllll know, Karen no matter how dramatic she was, she WAS right! Also, Laura (even though the budget cuts and Constance McCashin's firing) made up with dramatic Karen and confided in her that she was dying. But again, good Drama and TV that we will never experience in this lifetime again, but yet I digress.
Karen wouldn't dare slap Laura. Laura took on Abby and was one of the very few to beat Abby at her own game. And Laura was the first one to belt Abby, very early on in the series. Laura was Karen's equal and a good person - it's why Karen respected her even when they disagreed.
i dont blame karen for the way she reacted to laura in this scene. karens daughter and chip (the real killer) have run off together and laura keeps insisting her husband is the killer. that would have pissed me off so much i probably would have slapped the shit out of her ass
She was playing a fiercly protective Mother, and I thought she played it just right. Her daughter took off with a murderer....when would be the time to over-react?
I remember the Chip/Diana storyline, but I don't remembe this scene. However, what an incredible scene it is! The thing I loved most about Knots Landing was its realism. People actually screamed at each other on this show. They were flat-out vicious when the moment called for them to be so, no matter what their past relationships had been.
I loved Laura Avery, she was one of the best characters on the show and the most realistic. And she was the only one who consistently was one step ahead of Abby. She looks great in this scene.
Laura was very annoying here, she was totally getting in the way -- Go Karen!

Karen sure knew how to get crazy angry.

Karen was right, but she didn't have to be such a bitch about it. I loved this storyline because perfect little Karen got crazier by the day.

Karen was always pushing other people around but it never worked with Laura.

But her overacting was perfect because that's how Karen WOULD react
Karen was clearly a very dramatic person
