You know, in terms of who loves them and who hates them, I think Mastodon is the new Rush. Not necessarily sound wise or genre wise, but they're a real "love 'em or hate 'em" type of band. Rush did the same thing in their career, changing their sound, and I'm sure they lost some of their initial fanbase. I've been listening to them since they came out with Remission, and that album and all the ones that followed have impressed me.

When I heard they would be touring with Opeth, I thought that I should maybe take a look since I'll be seeing Opeth and I'd like to know what else I'll be seeing. God was that a nice coincidence. This album to Mastodon is like The Crusades for Trivium. Crusades had the only material I liked from Trivium, then they went back to their old sound and I could give two shits less about them. I hope Mastodon stay with this sound more so than their old sound, which I find inferior to this current one.

Brann plays Starclassic Bubinga if I'm not mistaken, top of the line TAMA drums, lot of attack, warmth and volume, really love every album's drums production btw

However, I saw Metallica, during the And Justice tour, worst show I've EVER seen...ever, as in seeing upwards of 150 bands for nearly 3 decades now, they sucked. If people can't hear Mastodon on this album, then they need to get their ears checked. I've seen many comments from people about how they hate this album but love Blood Mountain, which is pretty damn stupid if you ask me because this album reminds me a lot of BM. It's easy to prove and debate Jesus and Christianity are the truth, the way, and the life. Atheism is a religion (belief) as well...they believe in nothing. Which I don't get, the Bible explains everything and was well witnessed and documented when written. It's not that hard to understand.

However, I saw Metallica, during the And Justice tour, worst show I've EVER seen...ever, as in seeing upwards of 150 bands for nearly 3 decades now, they sucked. Mastodon is every bit as musically skilled as Metallica ever was, on some of their work even more so. I notice that your examples, while classics(I'll give you that), are relics at this point. Metallica of the last 15 yrs though...Mastodon is the Crusher Destroyer!!!

If people can't hear Mastodon on this album, then they need to get their ears checked. I've seen many comments from people about how they hate this album but love Blood Mountain, which is pretty damn stupid if you ask me because this album reminds me a lot of BM. There aren't many bands that can go in a new direction on every album and still sound like the same band in some odd way.

People need to be more open minded in order to receive it, but this is a start. I like to think the people listening to bands like Mastodon are the open-minded type who don't discredit Christ.
