@elunico13 My NIV and My ESV has Acts 8:37 so I am not sure what you are talking about. It sounds like you are just going based on some KVJ only website comments... you are confusing "leaving out" with "informing the reader" that this verse is only included some manuscripts. Nothing wrong with knowing certain facts.
By the grace of God I was born again after reading, and believing, the words I read in a Berkley New Testament given to me by the Gideons. The Lord has also spoken to me, and blessed me with many wonderful revelations and insights reading the NIV, NASB and ESV... I like the language of the KJV but have never really been able to comfortably read it for long periods as I feel in my mind that I am translating the text into more modern language as I go.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show your thyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth. If we do this we will not have any thing to worry about.
Few understand, as you do, that the KJV that we love so much did not mirraculously appear in the form that we now love to read. It was a very long protracted and sometime convaluted process from 1516 to 1885 when the Apocrypha was finally removed.
What you have said here is an extremely accurate thumb-nail sketch of this long process. Thank you for adding some useful clarity.
Thankfully, God blesses us with any version of His word.
@mark0454 Thank you. Unfortunately, due to the cultic mindset of the KJVOnlyists and their complete lack of education outside a half dozen pamphlet-style blurbs from (Riplinger, Hunt, Hovind & such) those who love the KJV as well as the other beautiful translations of God's Word into the english language are often put into the position to 'sound' as though they are attacking the KJV. Nothing can be more untrue. We love it ,but not to the exclusion of new & superior efforts
Hmmm. Well,here's how I see it. The Bible contains the holy scriptures. Certainly,God has inspired them. There are differences in Bible text from version to version. In some cases this difference amounts to a change of meaning. I have a King James and an American standard version. Sometimes,after prayer,I am directed to read a certain passage or scripture,pertainant to my issue.
Where is Acts 8:37 in the ESV, NIV, NLT, HNL, VUL and mGNT? Those bibles literally go from v36 to v 38. WHY? Theres more than this!

@zoltanapril42 - Try,
The King James Only Controversy by James White
or
The King James Version Debate by D. A. Carson
Both are good.

Outstanding! I love the KJV and the NKJV (and abominate trash like the Message) but KJV onlyism cannot be validated.
