@tomlott Actually back in the 70's and 80's Lawler used to perform pretty often in Memphis in front of thousands of fans each week so i wouldn't excatly call that tiny .It is fair to say outside of the Memphis area he wasn't as big of a draw. Flair also was huge in certain areas of the country and well known in the wrestling world by the majority of fans. Bret had a short run at the top of the WWF, but that pales in comparison with Flair's run near or at the top of NWA/WCW/WWF during the 80/90s

I think he should have been more of a professional and tried to get him over rather than bury him. @GaDawgs15818 of course wrestling is predetermined, and pushing other acts is part of the business, but in no other sport would a single competitor get that many chances to win a title that is only taken from you upon a loss. It just seems ridiculous for him to claim that as badge of valor in my mind. It would sound better if he could add up all the calendar days he's spent as champion, not the amount times he clearly won it and then lost it. It's just silly be champion so many times.

@dylanrocks83 The point is that he didn't fall of the top when he lost his belt like others have. He stayed at the top of the pile the longest. NWA didn't keep him there because they liked him, he was the best draw in the company, and the 2nd best in all of wrestling at the time. They used his popularity to promote others and they repayed him by giving the top star the belt.

Tna got beer money, Rob Terry, and many new up and coming talent, the x-division, the guys are way bigger and more muscular and better looking athletically, more colorful and more charismatic. plus in TNA the storylines are way more edgier and hardcore. If WWE didn't see TNA as a threat, they wouldn't have got the Nexus and begged The Rock to come back. Competition is always good for the wrestling business.

The problem here was that WCW were paying wrestlers over the odd benjamins their writers had no idea after the NWO angle on how to market the talent - they could have really done something wit the horseman - had they done an angle like Benoit/Malenko/Bret/Flair/Anderson/Sting to go against the NWO - with the horseman then turning on Bret/Sting and giving them the classic Horseman Beat Down - its a shame it never happened or will happen

This should have been the main event for WCW. That NWO shit was stale by this time. If you think about it, WCW only a had a couple real faces. DDP, Goldberg, Sting.
