  • he cant believe how easy it was, he put the gun into his face...bang! so much blood for such a tiny little hole, problems do have solutions you know? a lifetime of fucking things up fixed...in one...determined...flash

  • The discussion of the greatest live tours of all time begins and ends with the 1994 Self Destruct tour. Every time I see something from it I almost hate myself for only being 12 years old at the time.

  • wish I was in toronto 16yrs ago when I was 12 and not only now.... although, I started listening to NIN when I was 13 lol :D

    LOVE THIS...

  • 2:23

  • Fucking Sick intro!

  • Black and white the whole time and then when that red crimson blood flowed over the top of that coffin, I almost pissed myself. Amazing, I saw them 4 times in 94 still unrivaled as far as live shows go.

  • I was at this show!! best concert of my life....Marylin manson and jim rose circus opened up...awsome

  • now i'm oficially dying of jealousy. you're a HERO man, this is number 1 in my top 5 concerts i'd kill for to attend.

  • Such unbelievable despair and sadness he captured in these songs so many years ago. He was a very tortured artist but I love the man.

  • The lights should have been blue...the deepest shade of mushroom blue...

  • Agreed, everythings blue in this world.

  • something blue live would rock, maybe they should do the whole rusty nails in one show!

  • i loved it when i saw them and they played this, so much raw energy, completely chaotic

  • Comment removed

  • HOLY SHIT. God I wish they played this when I saw them. I am very thankful I saw them live, Trent is a fucking legend.

  • Is this bootleg on DVD? Like a unofficial DVD? This entire show is amazing.

  • Makes my bones shiver till they show through the skin.

  • you should really see a doctor about that...

  • I hope you're joking...

  • Oh c'mon! Of course I'm joking :P

  • One of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard .. i'm going to see them live on 06.29.09 :)

  • ive seen nin 2wice and id go if they ever came close to regian sk again. one of my most favourite artists ever. njoy ur show peace

  • You must be German eh?

  • wow, this is one of my favourite nin songs [so haunting yet beautiful]

  • will they ever play this live again? be badass to see this go into Hurt live...

  • They played it tonight.

  • you should have recorded it

  • you can find it on youtube...

  • yeah i realize that now, i commented it like a hour after the show was finished

  • lol would be crazy on some lsd lol

  • no this is from downward spiral

  • is this from the Hellraisers Bootleg?

  • no dude it is from the album downward spiral

  • I Know its from the downward spiral, what i was asking is it from the bootleg concert called "Hellraisers"

  • Sadly, it's easier to identify yourself with a prefabricated image than to identify exactly what you want in life. We're "trapped" out here in the real world, forever. And yet we keep looking for life in pictures, in fashions, in spectacles of all kinds, anything that we can collect or watch-instead of doing. We exist as Dead Souls and we have no way out.

  • well said

  • maybe i'm fucked, but i can't hear vocals here. what's wrong with me?

  • When played Live, they didnt do vocals. It was just an instrumental.

  • Even if it is an instrumental, you can still feel that bone chilling feeling when you listen to it.

  • Yup. I agree.

  • @RockFanatic319 its not instrumental... there are words. spoken quietly in the foreground.

  • insignifgant9..I apologize for the typo...

  • insignifgant9 I live the song..I breathe it..I bathe in it...I am surrounded by it.,,for me its not surrealistic but its totally realistic. Depressing but life is often depressing. Out of depression some of the most beautiful things come. I lost someone who was very special too me who thought of this as his favorite song and I cry every time I hear it...It makes me sad but I am mesmerized by its beauty.

  • mysticalwind72, I agree. While beautiful, it is nonetheless depressing, to me anyway, and that is the reality of many. While many people can sympathize and LISTEN, I am guessing that few can actually FEEL this song like I do. Everything is blue in this world, a deeper shade of mushroom blue...

  • This song is one of the most beautiful aspects of reality..atleast it's my reality...

  • There was supposed to be another track on TDS entitled "Just Do It" meant to be just before or after this song on the greatest album of all time. The lyrics were "Just do it nobody cares at all". People thought it was too up front about the act of suicide so Trent was advised to take it off the album. Don't believe me, then check the ninwiki.

  • It doesn't scare me. It is beautiful, pure beauty...

  • How raw and how much emotion this song has, it's just wow. Trent Reznor has actually made a song that scares the living crap out of me.

  • its the song on the album where the "character" shoots himself in the face

    i love it

but it scares me kinda too lol

  • A lifetime of fucking things up, fixed... in one determined flash.

  • when i first listened to the album i didnt find each single track good, but now i can't get enough

  • Coolest thing i've ever seen <3

wish they'd play this live again sometime

    haha if not

come to australia and play anyways :)

  • downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral downward spiral=love

  • Yea it really took a man at his lowest to make an album so full of pure emotion. I can't think of any other album with so much meaning to it and so much genius in it.

  • Music comes from the extremes of emotion, when you get right down to it. all you have to do is hear Hurt and you know where the brilliance of The Downward Spiral came from. It's incredible and raw and vitriolic and nothing can even come close to it.

  • Best album of all time. It takes me on a journey whenever I listen because I understansd its story I would have liked the Fragile more but I don't understand the story. In this album this is the part where the man commits suicide. In the fragile, i know its about a man who is trying to fix his life but he fails. But i understand this album in detail i don't understand the fragile in detail like this. If i did though i would luv it more than i already do

  • this song is probably the best one to listen to when you're at the lowest of the low, sure it doesn't have a positive message, but it empathises with how you are, another song that evokes this kinda feeling is "discover me like emptiness" by In Flames too

  • Fucking epic

  • LOve this to suicide <3

  • Love.

  • perfect <3.

  • gr8 song

  • I love this song, this video is so great, thanks for posting!

  • This song is fuckin great. Trent is a god of music, but too underrated. NIN must be the most famous band in the world, but there are too mush shitty pop.a pity that the first part of the song isnt live, it is from sampler or sg, but you can't see this because there is the curtain.

  • I dont think i've ever agreed with anything more than i do with ur comment.

  • well said and very painfully true

  • Hell yes! All my sister listens to is shitty pop (add an extra o and it becomes poop!), except for the cool stuff that I've introduced her to, like NIN and QOTSA.

  • Great live rendition of this song. One of the more less liked NIN songs...

  • ARE YOU INSANE!!!? This song fucking Kills!!! It's one of my favorite. When i'm pissed i just listen to this song.

  • I didnt say I disliked the song. It's genrally not a well known song. It's one of my favorites off of The Downward Sprial. It has Great lyrics.

  • alrighty then

  • Just say NO!

  • Ho-ho! Well done you :D

  • What a killer concert that was!!! Brings back some awesome memories!!

  • NIN=Innovation

  • i wish i was there

  • Me too.. but I was 3 years old back then.

  • so was i, that sucks

  • I went to this concert 3 times, several songs in the middle had video playing over them. a warm place, eraser, hurt and lastly this one when the screen came up. very surreal. (self destruct tour '94-'95)

  • They've never played A Warm Place.

  • yea, they've never ever played that before. ever.

  • Sorry, it was 14 years ago. Probably its place on the album contributed to my flawed memory of it being played then. That and some wishful thinking. (Hallucinogens as well.) very cool part of the show though.

  • I think Year Zero is the best since The Fragile

  • Not exactly a big span between the two huh?

  • lol true not too hard to pick one :D

  • i love nin

  • I think NIN went downhill when The Fragile and With Teeth came out. I agree with doopoop that Year Zero bounced it back up.

  • No way! The Fragile was awesome. Two discs of pure awesome. With Teeth was not that great. Some good songs, but one of the only NIN albums that has songs that seem like filler. Year Zero was much less poppy, more like what the fans wanted than what the record companies wanted. freakin' awesome, and my fav NIN album.

  • The fragile was a great album but i dont think that it compares in anyway to the shear brilliance and genius of The Downward Spiral

  • only thing is trent didn't scream before the climax like in other shows

  • holy crap... not only does this song seem like it was meant to be live, they did a complete different rendition with no lyrics... loved it

  • hahahahahahaha

  • omg thats fucking awesome!

  • Nin were fuckin amazing back then. it all went downhill after the fragile

  • I think Year Zero bounced it back up.

  • Fucking amazing when it kicks in

  • Wow,i wish they would play this live again.

  • i love this song! thank you

  • Thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I've been trying to find high quality live footage of this song for YEARS now! I was starting to think it didnt exist!
