Can anyone help ? So im going up the the face of the jump and im going pretty fast but i always slow down right before the jump and almost every time I i jump the bike i always endo or the front of the bike just goes down. Is it because I start to slow down ? Should I just keep the same speed im already going or what ? I'm confused
@bananapuffcream1 hi mate i used to do the same thing on my 85 all you have to do is keep a steady throttle opening i dont mean keep it pinned ( not yet anyway :P) just half open and ur back wheel will come down and dont sit to far forward either hope this helped :)
@IROCKS7ARI yeah thanks man. i'm going to the track tomorrow and i'll just have to suck it up and try it out. but thanks for the tips. its good to know there riders that help out there :D and not just bash on other riders. well thanks and good look in the future for whatever happens bro
Just started motorcross and came back from the track today not shaw of what i was doing wrong, this has saved me some pain and not looking to much like a goose! thanks well done.
i know what he means by not gripping with your knees, i was riding yesterday and did everything expet that on a step up and the bike pulls away so it will keep it close as well haha\
Jumping can be tricky. People have their own ways of jumping but you'll find your own way in time. I would practice alot on turns and turs like @NTSdrums said
Ok so say your just coasting down a hill where you don't give it gas do you hold in the clutch? I do t know proper times to use the clutch except for shifting and starting.
@Jake614DMR When coasting down a hill it is best to leave the clutch out so that you have some engine braking. If you pull the clutch in, you will start freewheeling and probably get faster and faster! Just keep 2 fingers on your clutch lever incase you need to pull it in for some reason :) Oh, and you dont have to use the clutch to change gears, if you just back off the gas, you can easily change gears. Alternativly, to go fast, just hold the throttle open and slip the clutch and upshift :)
@NTSdrums My dad made me ride figure 8's when I was a kid and told me the same thing. He was 100% right. Jumping is fun and easy, but railing a berm on the pipe is an artform.
Oh and too wlightning what kind of bike do you ride?? If your standing 99% of the time exactly how do you get the back tire to hook up between big doubles?? Or make a proper high speed turn(ie ass planted as far to the front to maximize front traction)?? sweeping general comments like these are why I love the internet lol! The best instruction on the planet is to watch some supercross paying attention to the pros body position and technique IMHO!
Just to clarify panic reving causes centrifugal force from the spinning of the rear tire forcing the front to rise (not creating gravity I loled sorry for nit picking) same as with the brake action in the air it stops the centrifugal motion of the rear tire pitching the nose down hope this helps! FYI I am a 42 your old MX rider riding a KTM 300 2 stroke (Im 5'8") started racing MX at 13 GL to all and keep the rubber side down :)
puffinyat: you should standing 99% of the time when youre riding, the prevent your bike from trying to run away from you when you hit the gas you should be ALWAYS squeezing the gas tank with your knees, practice going slow and do this until you do it without even thinking
can someone help me cuz everytime a try riding and standing up i end up hitting the gas to hard on accident and i start falling back wich makes me hit the gas harder
Hey so I hope anyone can help me with this question...and I have never raced motocross or have jumped for that matter...do you pull in the clutch when you are in the air??? or no also I heard you are supposed to roll on the throttle right as you hit the lip of the jump??? thanks!
Thanks bro make more and I'm goin to comp edge tomorrow so this will help alot because I'm new to tracks and I'm a lil worried bout jumping but thank you
do you compress the suspension by pushing down right before and while your on the face of the jump?... Im talkin about if you jump with no throttle or accelerating
If the face is steep enough and you are carrying enough speed, the suspension will compress on it's own. If you want to help the suspension to compress and release, many call this a seat bounce. Mainly used on a steep jump coming right out of a turn where you want to get some height. Stay seated and near the middle/back of the seat when approacing the jump, when you are on the face and as you feel the suspension rebound after leaving the lip, stand up.

@srfdood im on an rm125 and no you dot need to pull the clutch in while in the air or at least i dont, i have only ben to a track about 4 times. the biggest jump i have hit was i think 75-80 feet and it was a table top. i cant make it over with my 125 cause its right fter a turn but i panic rev it and land on the back tire. thereis also a 65-70 table that i clear no problem. no reving or braking just clean sailing through the air so it all depnds onthe lip, speed bike body poss. hope this helped
It's not as likely to stall on a smaller 2-stroke when you tap the rear brake without pulling in the clutch. 4-stroke, you'll be sailing through the air with the engine off if you don't pull the clutch before tapping the rear brake, especially 450's. When landing, it could put you over the bars since you'd be essentially push starting your bike on the landing. Pushing your chest over the bars while doing all this will help to lower the front even more when looping out

@matttdaking No not unless you need the front end to come down, and therefore hit the back brake, its like a ball when its spinning it cuts through the air better, like rugby players or american football. if you rev mid air it brings the rear down quicker.
@baddini123 it doesn't come all naturally, ive seen some begginers jump with no instructions and you think they are going to crash, their positioning and how they approach a jump is shocking. You should learn all the basic techniques like this video is explaining. But anyways mate if thats what you think, its your choice.
@David depending on the age/size factor you can buy all your gear for $1000 an under, and a bike depending on you.

Troman16 2 weeks ago
@Troman16 Are u sitting down?
JensenCompound 2 weeks ago
@Troman16 You should try to take the preload down and also the rebound that way your shocks don't decompress too fast.

you do not need to see a video of that to learn to jump; you learn it naturally
baddini123 1 year ago
@baddini123 it doesn't come all naturally, ive seen some begginers jump with no instructions and you think they are going to crash, their positioning and how they approach a jump is shocking. You should learn all the basic techniques like this video is explaining. But anyways mate if thats what you think, its your choice.
