Visually, yes. Co-op wise for story.. probably... but better? No.

Left 4 Dead 1 + 2 have excellent multiplayer and you don't get the same rush out of Dead Island as you do out of a Great L4D game with a few mates.

Don't get me wrong i love Dead Island, i own it and play it with friends. But it won't compare to L4D's... even though they both contains zombies... that's basically where the similarites end.
