I was there. I am a member of Randall County Fire Department. provided mutual aid to Potter County Fire Department. Amarillo Fire Department also provided mutual aid.
A friend of mine was driving back to Amarillo from Fritch when it happened. That's what about 70 miles? He said it looked like a mushroom cloud when it went off. He kept thinking it was just a few miles away, but it kept moving farther away from him the further he drove. He finally realized it was a long distance away. When he got to the Loop & Boys Ranch Road he could hear it from that far away! Can you imagine. It must have been super loud.
That was my sisters friends house.
