  • 気持ちいい!GOOD!

  • A Schmengy Strat with scalloped board? You like that? Hard to play in tune?

  • muito bom gostei

  • Really smooth. Love that tone. This sounds just right without all the showing off.

  • VERY good! Thank you for this vid.

  • bravo great job

  • A Fender Strat and a Triple Rectifier. Interesting Rig....

  • nice strat

  • well done!

  • cool really cool!!!

  • Hey man, really nice to see someone that has a great tone, good skills and a very nice setup, I think Larry Carlton would be proud of the tribute to him. People like aussiome really don't have anything to do besides criticize someones playing....Hey you at least uploaded a vid and are pretty damn good too I just have to say....keep it up and can't wait for more

  • Beautifully played !!!

  • very nice brother..keep playing

  • bending is just right. dont see that often

    nice work dude

  • where did u get melody?

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry no it is not "Sleepwalk by Larry Carlton"... a proper title would save you some grief dude, because otherwise it is just very annoying.

  • Thank you... come again...

  • @AxeStudio have you got the tab for this?

  • Did you purposely keep your guitar under tune from the background music? Or am I hearing intonation?

  • Nice smooth strat playing. Larry Carlton would give you a smile on this one, buddy.

Nothing like the front pick-up of a strat.

    Truly enjoyable cover and play-along.

  • Why... thank you. That's a mighty nice compliment.

  • @AxeStudio Very nice playing. have you got the tabs for this?

  • dude you can get so many chicks with that melody also i like your stile you have the tab ???

  • learn it by ear, its easy, stay away from tabs and get your ears working ;)

  • Nice. No machine-gun riffs, smooth melody line, executed with excellent feel, and flow.

    Well done.

    \oo/

  • well played mate, nice tone. is that the original version by L Carlton with your improvisation? sounds fannytastic

  • Comment removed

  • many props. sounds great good job... :)

  • That was awesome

Is that a Fender Strat? Mexi or American, what yr is it?

I just bought a 2008 American Standard and it sounds fucking awesome.

  • Yes... it's a Fender Strat, YJM artist model, made in USA... maybe a 2006 model.

  • That was beautiful!!! Well done!!! I was looking for this backing track and didnt know you can simply play over the original guitar track. I thought we are not allowed to copy from the original track. Do you mean that you just play over the original CD together with Larry Carlton? Thanks.

    Grandma Mary

  • Hello Grandma Mary. I'm sure that it's illegal to distribute copy righted material for sale... but I'm just playing over the original CD. I don't think Larry would mind a little tribute to his talent. Btw, I met Larry after a show in Blue Note, NYC and he was a perfect gentleman.

  • AxeStudio

Thanks so much for the information, my friend. Its not easy to find the tab and the backing track. Now I know. You have a great channel and I enjoyed your video. Thanks for posting:) All the Best.

    Grandma Mary

  • Excelent playing, Nice control and feel. Just Awesome :)

  • nice job where did you get the midi file for it

  • It's not a midi nor a backing track. It's the actual CD track and I'm simply playing over the original guitar track.

  • Where can a person get tracks without the lead guitar? By the way, that was great. You have very good control and feel of your guitar.

  • plz plz send me the tabs

  • Many have asked but sorry to say... I do not have tabs for this song. I learned it by ear. Perhaps I should make one someday...

  • if you want to see something amazing and funny check out "bondy murders bach"

  • this is amazing

  • send me the tabs please

  • can you please show how to play it?

  • realy awesome, man, this is one of the best pieces of music ever done, and you played so good... keep on rockin...

  • Excellent job on the guitar but needs some bass

  • Joe Sat's version is better than Larry's Jazz version

  • Do you do the piano and drum to?

  • The background music was not done by me. I dabble a little on the paino & drum, but my main instrument is guitar/bass.

  • Wow magnific, now i love the jazz,

  • Get a Bruno UG30 if you can't afford a Dumble.

    Doc Holliday

  • Very nice but without eny hooks,like `elevator muzak ` .

  • you have reached the 51th floor... lol

  • Guitar is not in tune.

  • Comment removed

  • @LadyRBlues You mean not in tune with background dont you? The guitar is in tune.

  • Awesome - great job. Very nice rendition of one of the best songs ever! Love your jazzy take on this...

  • Great job with a beautiful song...

  • time and again this beautiful cover

what a great job dude ¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • time and again... thanks.

  • Realy nice, thank you.

  • lol rectifier...great for this music:) can it be that vai or satriani have covered that song?

  • lol... yea, wish I had a dumble amp, among few others, but we gotta make the most of what we got. ;)

  • Very nice! You should do a video that teaches this so others can do it as well! I'd appreciate it

  • It would have sounded more like Larry Carlton with the middle position pickup on, that's what Larry usually plays, I think... Anyway, great cover!

  • isesic larry does not use the middle pickup but combinations with mid- neck or mid-bridge..

    anyway,

nice cover very sweet soft touch and good vibrato seems to stay in tune well ..

keep up the good work kid your on the right track I enjoyed listening to you play.

  • Very nice version. I always liked this recording of Larry Carlton doing this. Nice chords and the guitar lead is very tasteful. Awesome job :)

  • Bad tone for that...

  • true that brotha. hahah dual rec = GAIN

  • write "hernan gonzalez - sleepwalk" great version!!

  • Hey you should check out the Danny Gatton version. Try that one out.

  • Nobody 'sings' Sleepwalk, it is an instrumental ffs. Composed by Santo and Johnny, used in Richie Valens movie and awesomely covered by Brian Setzer.

  • Santo and Johnny didn't sing "Sleepwalk," but there really was a vocal version of it which I have in my collection. It was on a various artists collection of oldies. It was one of those songs that you wondered why they bothered to record.

  • thats sleep walk he does not sing it santo and jhonny do tring to steal the song huh

  • What? lol...

  • Nice! I like the vibrato in particular. And I'm jealous of your amp!

  • Nice version,

  • Larry Carlton didn't write Sleepwalk, Santo and Johnny did. Nice playing though.

  • omg i just love it!

    you're great =)

  • hihi John... May I know where can I find the backing track ? thankss = )

  • This is not a backing track. I am just playing on top of Larry's CD.

  • Carlton's version is my favorite. You did a great job. Very smooth tone. Are you getting it from the Boogie?

  • Basically yes. It's on the clean channel w/ very light overdrive & reverb effect thru my POD XT Live.

  • hahah.. thanks man . brilliant!

  • very pretty!

  • dude that was amazin were did u get the tabs

  • I don't have tabs for this. I played this by ear.

  • This is my favorite song and John, you did a GREAT job!!!!!!!! Thanks!

  • A great rendition of Santo & Johnny's Sleepwalk. 5*****'s

  • BEST than Larry himself ¡¡¡¡

  • Really Nice, I rememmber that album comming out more that 25 years ago, still have it...

  • Actually it's almost 50 years ago.

  • RITCHIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

  • This is a great cover and that's a nice guitar! I love Fenders.

  • i have heard this for decades....sounds great to me!

  • very nice video

  • souds great

  • Sounds good I realy enjoyed it. Keep up the great work

  • It's well played, but Mesa Boogies are just too dry to play jazz... Great for rock and metal though.

  • That's true... so I got myself a Fender Deluxe Reverb amp recently. :)

  • I think you u have the tools BUT you need to be UUUUUUU go liston to pat, see how he do's it. maybe drink moore boozelolololololol

    good job overall

  • guitar teqniques

  • Never copy another artist. Take the song and make it your own.

  • Tune your guitar please

  • about thirty years ago i had ricky nelson's old ovation acou/elec. fine guitar. while it was in the shop being fixed they told me larry used to come in and play it and give little concerts. unfortunately i wasn't there. recluse. don't have that ax anymore either. it got effected by the desert heat and never played quite the same. warp. traded it for a bass and amp. hey. . .fine job

  • Very nicely done.

  • It's not a backing track, it's the title track of Larry Carlton's Sleepwalk CD. You can even hear Larry's guitar in unison with John H. which is why the guitar sounds fat. It's a note for note copy but a very good effort.

  • A great version where did you get the Backing track? I really enjoyed your Version.

  • Nice - I give you 1 thumbs up - give Jazz your all my friend - you have the talent

  • Ritchie Valens didnt write this song it was made in memory of his name.

  • Good fingerings but his guitar is a nano /second flat. otherwise commendable.

  • splendido arrangiamento!!!

  • Jealous here! What gauge strings?

  • good acomplishment bratha. no easy stinky feet im sure. Good workin n listenin. Sounds like the drummer playes a 3/4 @ 3:26 for a short lead in lead in. Good mental tracking abilities old bean! s

  • Emotive!

  • bien felicidades!!

  • R.I.P Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, Big Bopper they made music what it is today

  • Great job man:)

  • Nicely done! Whoever wrote "elevator music" below had to be joking... Sleepwalk is a time worn Jazz guitar standard. Stick to watching Yngwie videos or you might accidently learn something.

  • It's not a, "time worn jazz standard".

It was written by Ritchie Valens.

  • Nacho 66, I think you're confused by the fact that a version of the song appeared in the La Bamba movie. Ritchie never recorded a version of this song, and he definately did not write it.

Santo and Johnny recorded the first hit version of the song in 1959, and are said to have written lyrics they never recorded... but the song predates them.

  • I'll take your word for it.

I guess the association is that strong.

  • Yes, Jay is right, the song was written in 1959, by Santo, Johnnie, and their sister Anna Farina! I was fortunate enough to have met johnnie and his wife back stage at a Larry carlton concert back on Long Island, where they are from, and I also. We all got to meet Larry, and spent a good 20 minutes just chatting together, Larry, and Johnnie, his wife and me and another friend, it was an honor!!!

  • I met Larry in person after a show at Blue Note in NYC. A Perfect Gentleman.

  • I'm old enough to remember when both Santo and Johnny's version of this and also the Shadow's version came out. You can compare all of them and the truth is that it's a lovely melody and it can be done in any number of ways and they're all good. This gentlemen does a beautiful rendition of it. Bravo.

  • I wish I could have been there in person to experience the music of the 50's and 60's myself. I agree with you & I thank you. :)

  • elavator music.

  • bad porn music?

  • lol

  • - NICE SHOT -

  • I know i have requested this before but maybe someone on here can help me find the tabulation on the music sleepwalk by Larry Carlton or someone who plays it with just a pick. Ithink Amos Garrett has one but his techinique is using his fingers too.

  • ur awsome man! but i think the brain setzer version of the song is cooler than the original can u make a video of u playin that 1? o and ur awsome

  • You are absolutely right mr GuitarWizard. Larry Carlton's version is entirely different song from the original Sleepwalk. My personal favorite is Santos & Johnny's, the all original. There are plenty nice versions out there... Setzer, Satriani, Ventures, the list goes on... and Marvin definitely is in there.

  • I'm sorry but I don't agree he is not even close to what this song should sound like check out Hank Marvin of the 60's group the Shadows then you will know what sleepwalk really is.

  • I have to disagree with you guys in turn. Larry Carlton's Sleepwalk is an improvement of the original. The arrangement, tempo, and style are much more conducive to the feeling that the idea behind the song tries to evoke...

  • Fantastic Larry, can anyone tell where i can get the tab music the way Larry plays it. I sure would like to learn. Thanks

  • nice one dude.

  • Good job dude, love this song.

  • BETTER than original, as said ¡¡¡

  • I love that song Sleep walk and i like the

way John H JO Plays it I think he does a real great job with it. I still love to get ahold of that back ground music i think is great. If you no where i can get it can you tell me.

  • cool

  • You're doing great! Keep it up. You may wish to watch a MASTER who's been playing for 66 years (since he was 6). Do a search on The Ventures 2004 and also Nokie Edwards Sleepwalk and watch how he finger picks and also plays octaves.

  • hey good job man

  • Great instrumental! Don't give those nay-sayers a thought. You love music, and it comes thru. Have fun, play on! Post more! your fan, karaokeKate, S.F. Bay Area

  • Very nice chops. Don't listen to those who would criticize - but couldn't even tune your guitar, much less play it. I enjoyed your video.
