@ttyme01 Just because its' redline or isn't doesn't mean its' time to shift though. Some cars (bug eyed Subaru with the stock turbo) pull hardest when "short shifting". Same can be said of some of the bikes out there.
Still, that was a chase bike, CHASING. He isn't there to pull ahead. I've been a chase car a few times and it's honestly a bad idea to try to keep up. You get pits on your paint, chips in your front glass. Rider's intentionally short shifting to keep a reasonable distance.
If you look for Z1000 vs concours 14 drag race you will see a Z1000 get the jump on the start over the 14 TOURING bike at the strip and still get beat...these things are slow compared to sport bikes..they stock run 11.20s at sea level...thats over 2 seconds slower than the slowest 1000...HAHAHAHAHA that guy should have never raced that car or even thought about it!
That car is a fast little bastard..but I have to agree...the camera is a busa and he is on a 07 or older..which arent terribly fast compared to the new Gsxr750 and get owned by the 07 and up 1000's. and he was granny shifting at 1,500 rpm below redline. that car moves out but put it against a true 1000 (ZX-10,R1,CBR1000 or GSXR1000) let alone a new busa or ZX14 and the outcome would be very different. fast car...slow bike that he raced. (1000s stock run 9s now) hatch better not race from a dig.

I can't stand rolling races against bikes, aerodynamically they don't perform as well as a car does above 100, and their greatest strength is usually intense sub 3 second 0-60s. Rolling races against cars bikes can get pwned without too much trouble.

I can't stand rolling races against bikes, aerodynamically they don't perform as well as a car does above 100, and their greatest strength is usually intense sub 3 second 0-60s. Rolling races against cars bikes can get pwned without too much trouble.

the z1000 only makes 123 or hp, around the same as a 600 sports, secondly its a naked and its motor is only tuned for about 150ish mph, fair enough the honda has it due to its high power to weight ratio, perhaps race say a hayabusa or some big bore hyperbike
