The funny thing was when Bob Z of Bad News fanzine said they sounded like Metal. Shitheads like Ralphy Boy from Squat or Rot said that Bob Z deserved to be beaten up. Not very peaceful from so-called peace punk. Nausea were a great band but their fans were a bunch of hypocritical bastards.
I witnessed this band several times back in the day - or is that now back before the day? What a fucking long time ago all this shit was happening. Music blows these days.
Fucking aye, these guys' apocalyptic stance on shit this long ago was so dead on and looming. I wonder how shitty they feel about things now, when fucking everyone plugged into facebook, this youtube crap, and cell phones nearly without exception, corporations have made the landscape even more monocultured, the struggle for environmentalism, against globalization and well... the struggle for practically everything (at least in this country) has practically stagnated, chemtrails paint our skies.
Son brutales, quizás demasiado correctos políticamente hablando para su época, pero sin duda brutales y un referente pionero dentro del crust-punk con raíces metaleras. Duelo de voces femenina y masculina genial y bastante cañerxs.
i love3 all types of music. old rolling stones, igy pop, the who, stevie wonder, willie nelson, charlie daniles, tommy james, roky erikson........i could imtiatate any of those i wanted to. this awesome shit is impossible to duplicate. wish these bands these days that think theyre doin it would just give up and become donut storemangers or something.
Im not one for duel vocalists but Nausea makes the exception because of the complementary service of destruction they vomit forth from their vile mouths. Hail.
That bass sound is incredible! It must be a result of whoever's amp/guitar/recording studio made it, but the same sound is similar in other NYC bands of the time like Born Against and (ex-Nausea?) band Word Made Flesh. So massive!!
@85raminator : He also told me that he turned off everything but the low end on his amp for that humungous walloping sludge tone he got, when I had the pleasure of seeing them on one of the US Grindcrusher tours back around 1990 or so. Totally underrated band, here, loved 'em!
Same here, the Extinction LP was one of my most played.
I've grown out of my hard leftist beliefs since my teen years and this now seems like preachy egalitarianism with too much of a political slant, but the tunes still rock.
