  • Coveywood and Musicteacher2010. Best ukulele teachers, EVER.

  • Killer playing! What strings are you using?

  • Love your accent!

  • I like it. You make it look so easy

  • You're so laid back, my friend. Thanks for sharing your talents with us.

  • Can you e-mail me a chord chart, too?

I would like your alternative fingerings for uke, too. I love your strumming patterns!

  • i love love this song!

can you do "you're the cream in my coffee"

    ???

    thanks so much!

  • please e-mail a chord chart with alternative fingering for ukulele chords -- thank you....

    ctmale1956@yahoo.com

  • Thanks Coveywood. I'm off to shop for my first Uke today.

I think I might be visiting you page quite a bit!

I was worried that a soprano might be a bit too small for me, but you make it look easy!

  • You've got a great voice!

  • Anyone know where I can find sheet music for this song???

  • If you are in regular tuning GCEA and want to play along in the same tuning as Coveywood just put a capo on the 2nd fret.....

  • Covey,

    I understand the tuning is A, D, F#, B....

However, can you post a version with the tuning to the standard G, C, E and A?

    or does that not work?

    Much appreciated... You ROCK... -Greg

  • Never mind :-)

Unless you think others might be able to use it...

My son figured the tuning out fast enough. Thanks!!!

  • Useful things these sons. I've got one that constantly sorts out my computer for me ! Video response me once you're up to speed, OK ? Curious to hear a new version.

  • im doing a dance show in november and i have got to sing this song for a duet i love the song

  • I want to hear you do it ! Where's my invite ?

  • hehe lol its in wales but i promise i will put it on here when we get the DVDs ok?

  • wow your go good

  • Sorry, only one version of the G7, I got confused... see, it's confusing.

  • Love to hear you sing it - video me OK ? :-)

  • Sure thing Covey, I'll get right on it.

  • Your also using two different versions of the G7 as well right? This is quite confusing if you don't know much about chords. Especially in conjuntion with the altered tuning. I think if you offered some explanation of this it would greatly improve the tutorial. Good video though, this is the first uke song I learnt thanks to you. Great voice.

  • Do I understand this rightly, your uke is tuned up a whole step, so instead of G C E A yours is A D F# B? This would probably explain why I'm finding these chords a bit confusing.

  • cheers for the beautiful uking! ive mastered it! if you shut your eyes and play it for about ten minutes you actually feel some sand in your toes!

  • i love this mans voice.

you sound like a voice over guy

or someone who plays old songs on the radio

  • This is an amazing song.

    Well done.

  • Cool!

  • well done mr Covey, thanks for showing your chord technics, all new to me especially what we refer here as running chords.. almost sounds like jazz playing on uku to me, but I can be wrong.

and soprano uku should be tuned with first string B, second F#, 3rd D and fouth, A.

  • Correct me if i am wrong but the reason is that the lenght of the soprano uku string is about the same as the B fret of the guitar, and to maintain the same tension as the normal guitar, it should be tuned to B, right?????

  • pretty sure thats right

  • I never payed much attention to the uku, but this is awesome! Good singing too.

  • Thanks for your reply about the capo. I looked up a few forms on ukulele capos and most everyone said they are a pain in the neck, (no pun intended). Better yet, how do you tune your uke so one doesnt need a capo?

  • Tune every string up one tone (two steps on the piano)

  • Lovely but your tuning seems to be different than mine? I'm playing up a few frets higher than your video clip shows. I'm tuned at the old GCEA.

  • he has D tuning I think. it's two semitones higher per string.

  • Yes - a tone higher. You can buy a bay Ukulele Capo which has the same effect when you put it on the 2nd fret.

  • nice i like it

  • can u give a tutorial for tuning please ?

  • I will I will, but it might take a little t i m e.

  • its okay, thank you so much, i wish my uku would saound like yours!

    greets (:

  • i think this is a very nice little tune :)

    haha ......

  • this is by far the Best version on youtube

  • thanks Tim and G'day (ps that "Ugly Ditty" is pretty nifty).

  • I love this. It's very good :-) thanks for the video.

  • COVEYWOOD.. You are the best. You have a great way of showing us how to play simple with groove. Thankyou...MORE..............please!!! :-)

  • Thanks - I'll have a think about what other simple grooves I've got up me sleevies.

  • very cool song thanks

  • Hey!

Perfect tune. It's my favorite song to play. Maybe I upload a video of myself soon, to show you what you've learned me! :)

    Great stuff!

  • very nice song!! °j°

  • what is the tunning

  • truly awesome. I'm practicing it now. Thanks for the great vid.

  • Thank you too - enjoy ! (and video response me when you're done maybe) :-)

  • great lesson i can finally play it!

  • go on, video reply me !

  • Gidday Covey! Love the tune and the arrangement, but need to get that capo to put me on yr wavelength. Have a retired pal whose going to love this once I've cracked it.

  • hhmmm. . . . . and then a video response Grierson stylee ? Can't wait. :-)

  • awesome!

  • does the tuning start from the top or the bottom

  • always from the top

  • superb

  • Comment removed

  • pineapple!

  • i have my uka in tune and im doing those exact chords but it sounds completely different is this in GCEA?

  • You're right - I tune a tone higher ADF#B.

  • are you in the ukulele orchestra of great Britain? your voice sounds very familiar

  • I really enjoyed hearing parts of this song. I hope you can make a complete video of the same version but the whole song, unless you already did one. If not please make a full version!

  • Could you write that down for me, I have a hard time memerizing chords =(

  • Well done mate, you're a very good teacher.

  • [G]reat [C]ooks [E]at [A] lot

  • thx :)

  • The tuning is A, D, F#, B.

For this song, it's one note higher

  • Wow it sounds great on ukulele :D

but what is the tuning? :)

  • I love ukeleles, I have 23 of themXD

  • Great work, and thanks for that jazzy little number.

  • love it m8

  • can you tell me in what tuning it is ? xD Ive got my uke tuned to a C6 cord with open tuning , so I can do the first chord you play but not the rest =(

  • haha Nice job, tht was cool!

  • why will you play it faaaaaaast and slow?

  • for ppl to learn it in a better way and easier?

  • i gt a burswood red ukulele, its quite good but id prefer a soprano

  • Thanks a lot for this - a childhood blast from the past as I remember listening to the bonzo dog band version!

Shame you've got that annoying uke tuning though - I have to transpose everything up, which is fine, but it means I can't get the open string embellishments! Maybe I need to invest in a soprano...

  • Thankyouuuu!!! :)

  • imba)

  • great...loved it

  • fantastic voice, fantastic presentation, fantastic ability. You are an incredible instructor. I recently bought a Uke and I'm franticly digesting all the great stuff for uke players here on youtube. You sir, are a gem.

  • just got a uke from hawaii!!!!

  • Wow, I totally don't use my uke like this. I use it to practice guitar shredding and classical shit

  • lol i love my ukulele fresh from hawii

i laughed so much when i found out someone made chords for ARNACHY IN THE UK LOL

  • Even anarchy has a soft vunerable underbelly. Perfect for uke !

  • gettin a uk in 2 weeks gona be sweeeet

  • sweeeeet is right. Enjoy

  • what a golden voice

  • :-) thank you, beam me up.

  • your voice makes me laugh hawaii haha at the end

  • your voice rules, put out an album and i'd buy it.

  • I'm going to hold you to this - and inflict ukulele mayhem on your educated ears.

  • hahah please do!

  • loveee it :D

  • i <3 ur video and this song and ur great at the playing

  • You have the voice of melting chocolate. Fabulous.

  • I have been perfecting the recipe for 60 years. Lovely post - thank you.

  • whats the tuning to this song?

  • I tune the uke a tone higher than usual - so ADF#B. You can use a small capo on the 2nd fret to achieve the same result.

  • beautiful. great vid.

  • Nice instructional video. Just about have it down.

  • I think that you need to get serious help, perhaps some ridlin or valume or something to get that anger out so that the world can be a better place for you. other than that this site is still average playing...not my kind of taste but you already know that don't you, you terrorist!!!!

  • Ritalin... not ridlin... and Valium... not valume... you cant even write words yet you complain about pronunciation?

  • geeez and breathe!

  • from the land of bluebottle

  • :D!! except soon after making this account i discovered it was henry crun :(

  • "crumm" has a certain charm :-)

  • haha :D

  • nice playing. You look like you've got big hands, wouldn't you be more comfortable playing a tenor uke?

  • wow! totally awesome! ^^

  • Thanks, blue.

  • tabs?

  • Sorry fella.

  • It's a beautiful song and you play it beautifully. I love it! And your voice is great.

PS. Don't mind stupid jealous people, just keep doing what you do. Kudos!!

  • Warm heart of Brazil . . . .nice voice tooooooo.

  • Enough respect!?! Wtf!! How the hell can u tell that!? Get a life man - say anything however you wanna say it, jeez, some people are wound so tight - u need some green me thinks

  • :-) PP

  • U K layalee - living in the Yoo Kay not the Oooo Kay, OK ?

  • the correct pronunciation is OO, not Yoo. but you don't sound like someone with enough respect to pronounce a word correctly.

  • There are some missing cuddles from a warmhearted Dad here. Its never too late Brian.

  • lol what a fuckin idiot

  • viriamutane... you may be correct with regards to the pronounciation but it's a very trivial point. If you said it with any degree of decency people might take note, but i'm afraid with your attitude people will ignore you and just assume you are a right dickhead

  • Don't be afraid. :-)

  • It don't matter what you spew, it still bullshit no matter is said...besides from one dickhead to the next, eat my bunghole you fag

  • eat your bunghole?.... hmmm.... gee it's a tempting offer but i might have to pass on that one... perhaps another time. Oh and of course you are most welcome to dine on my bunghole should you feel the desire, i'm sure you'll find it quite delightfuly pleasing to the palate.

  • U tuned it higher hahaha. Your really good. But why not get a better ukulele. My style is 6 strig tenor cause i like the deeper richer sound. Plus i have kinda big fingers. Hahaha

  • how do you tune your uke? gcea?

  • yep thats the order

  • wow! great arrangement.

  • oops i mean lean THIS song. ha sorry

  • hey i finally got my uke and i've been playing it for about 3 weeks. and i know a few songs. nothing too intense yet. ha. is there a way, without a capo or re-tuning that i can learn a song easily on a GCEA ukulele?

  • these vids make me wanna go out and get a ukulele to play around with

  • i did the chords the same as you but mine seems to sound lower than yours. how do you tune yours?

  • I'm a tone higher - put a capo on the second fret'll fix it. Uke'll sound better too.Piers

  • just had to say this video was so well put together! so informative and you made it so easy to follow :)

im so tempted to get a uke myself :P

btw.. you have one amazing voice!

    Lovedit!

  • Get a uke ! Its really not so hard, and I'll teach you how. They're a mood changer - alchemic. Piers

  • nice voice

  • i love yr accent! =)

  • Well-taught and well-performed. Thanks so much for this!

  • i love this song =)

this is one of our songs for the show choir at my school for our christmas program.

i can't wait to learn it on my uke when i get it tomorrow for my birthday and impress everyone when i play it =)

  • good luck buddy!

    ukelele = always awesome :D

  • Good luck with this, I'd love to hear the shcool choir performance. Post a vid, why not !

  • Great video really enjoyed it. I am a guitarist and found the Uke a whole lot easier when I realised the standard tuning is same as the top four strings of a guitar capo-ed at the fifth fret. You tuning is just the same as capo-ing at seventh fret.

  • There you go. thats what made it simple for me. I prefer to tune to the 7th fret.

  • yeah great song but whats up with the tuning....everywhere you look on the web you will mostly find gcea tunings ..........wonder how many uke players that really use A, D F# B

  • I learned the ADF#B tuning when I first began and it's mostly what I play in. I've tuned my 2nd uke in GCEA in order to parctice with both tunings.

  • very smooth song. great job.

  • thats a really good song man, and great ukulele playing. top notch!

  • what a great little song. i think you do a great job of playing and teaching and hope to see many more lessons from you! thanks!!!

  • This is pretty good. Yeah, A, D F# B is totally bizarre. Hehehehe.

It's 2 semitones sharper than standard uke tuning.

I'd love to see the lyrics and maybe the chords in the video comments...

Also, I'd love to see links to the subsequent videos in the video comments as well... would help keep things organized.

    Great style! Thanks!

  • Yes - I tune it all up a tone. I never knew any toher way. As for organization I'm not the best - as my wife would witness. Tread down the heels on my shoes, leave tea leaves in the sink, muddle up my videos. Thanks for your comment. Piers

  • re - organization.

I'm not criticizing you. I'm just making a suggestion that you could help increase your views and spread some of that good ol' uke cheer.

  • :-) Piers

  • such a cute instrument lol

  • haha dude every song i lsitenin to that uses ukulele rocks!

  • That's great thanks. I'm leanring in yout tuning, but I have to think of the chords as Bb6 C9 etc or I'll get confused. Either way I'm loving it.Thanks again

  • Very nice. I like learning songs like this.

  • the first chord is c#6 i think . great song man

  • No, it's the C6 he says it is. c g a e

  • Nice video lesson, I like this song. Your voice reminds me of Roger Waters a bit, any uke Floyd lessons.

  • outstanding...do u have anything a little more...mellow you could do a video for?

  • Awesome - what tuning are you using?

  • ADF#B Apparently that is weird but its the only way I've ever known !

  • thanks for another song, i've been wishing for another song to learn.

  • :-) thanks

  • Great job!! And thanks for the tips (Lord knows I need 'em)!

  • Thanks Jimbobis - hey you've got that Cajun singing going pretty good too !

  • I really like watching your vids... I think you do an outstanding job at teaching... Sometimes I watch and forget that you tune differently than I do... You tune A D F# B right? instead of G C E A. Either way I love it. Your style is unpretentious and easy to listen to. Thank you COVEYWOOD

  • Thanks for this, my first comment on the clip ! Quite right abouyt tuning - its the only way I ever knew.

  • GOT YA!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA LMFAOYP
