Fix resolution in counter strike source

i have a problem... my computer screen resolution should be 1440x900 .. when i have these setting in css the game is all laggy... why ? it didnt lag before..

i have a problem ... my aspect ratio on desktop is 4:3 (1024x768) and when i set the command for 1680x1050 wich is 16:10 it won't change the resolution . SO the question is how to change the resolution even if is not at the same aspect ratio

Thanks man, so far this -dxlevel 70 -width 1680 -height 1050 line is working like a champ even in the video settings its recognizing the 1680x1050 resolution which is my native res, before i could only go up to 1024 and the aspect ration wouldnt change to 16:10.

Thanks mate you really helped me out.

I was messing around with different video resolutions but had put in a strange resolution. And due my own stupidity I couldn't access "options" menu anymore, because it was out of my screen.

So started playing CSS (never liked it :s), but thanks to you my friend it's back to 1.6 :)

well obviously if you have a decent computer you can set it to run with direct x 9 to avoid any problems with source and then you type what he did you just substitute the numbers. you want to type,

-dxlevel 90 -width 1920 -height 1080

Hey for all who this ain't working on see what you screen resolution is and type it in instead of what he used (Ex. my resolution is 1266x768. so i put in -width 1266 -height 768) and it work.

(to see what your resolution is right click on you desktop go down to screen resolution (windows 7) customize/personalize (vista) or properties (windows Xp) (for deeper help PM me.)

QUICK SOLUTION: Right click on shortcut -> Properities -> where is sth sth ..hl.exe" -game cstrike... you type in the end: -dxlevel 70 -width 800 -height 600

And all this you put into RUN and run! And that's it :-)
