Thank you for jumping to my comment while!

Great the video and 5 rating!

  • wow! thats a GP9, the cab dosn't look like it.

  • sweet video and the train driver has the same honking tune as me

  • Nice old cast P-3!

  • hey guys, y did u thumb down him. he was repeating what he thought was funny in the video. now if u actaully watched it u would hear him say it. so who ever did that was a real moron.

  • yeah lol!

  • what type of training to operate these?

  • Are you talking about being a regular engineer, or are you talking about the museum's "Run A Locomotive" program?

  • All the sounds on here from brakes to horn and bell sound just like the GP 38 they use in MSTS.

  • ya ur right

  • This was an ex-Southern Pacific GP9.

  • Due to financial constraints, we have found it necessary to cancel the event for this year. We have, however, appoionted a committee to begin advance planning that will include securing the necessary funding so that we can bring the event back next year (2008).

  • Was that santa driving?

Looks cold, they have heaters in the cabs, is it broken?

  • That engine is equipped with baseboard heaters only. They weren't quite enough to overcome the cold that night. On the other hand, the heating stoves in the cabooses on the train work very well, and they were nice and toasty!

  • Yes, there is a private road crossing the City uses to access a water treatment facility located on the property.

  • It stays on the museum property, running around a loop that is about a mile in total length (old balloon track). Runs continuously from 5 PM to 8, or until everyone gets a ride. Ride as many times as you want. Inside the shop are a dining car and baggage car. The baggage car is decorated in holiday deckings; baked goods and hot beverages are served, and Santa Claus is there to visit with the little ones. Lots of fun!

  • This is at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum in Portola, California.

  • Indeed, still 24RL brakes and a P-3. Working gyralights, too.

  • What type of engine is that?

  • Former Southern Pacific EMD GP9 (SP 2873)
