  • CLEAN KENNY!...LOVE IT! BIG FAN SINCE 60'S!!

  • Kenny Burrell è veramente un grandissimo!! Con una sezione ritmica del genere, poi...

  • All men are as they play. Tender , subtle, powerful, full of love. What a man is comes out in spades when he plays.

  • I always liked the sound Kenny on the nylon string guitar. All these years and I never realized he did it in D-, lays nicely on the guitar in that key. Note: bar 11 of the bridge should be [Bbmaj7] instead of " [Bbsus] " bar #15 should be [Asus] instead of "[A7]". "Moon and Sand" is another great tune on the recording date. Nice work Kenny!

  • Que temaso por dios!

  • this song is really cool to play on piano. One of my favs.

  • I bet this guy is just like how he plays

  • awesome! 8D

  • exactly! sometimes i dont even bother listening to a standard who has been over played.... but then someone gives it a new life and all of a sudden you do wanna play it again.... cheers Rob

  • @RobertoStimoli you are right about this tune in particular, sometimes the progression gets obvious in your head, but you can really go for some guaranteed nice sounds over this, you can't really miss the target!

  • OK here is the first Bridge at 0:56 Cm7 | Fsus | Bb6 | Bb | E-7b5 | A7b9 | D-7 | D-7 | Cm7 | F7 | Bbsus | Bb | B-7b5 | E7b9 | A7 | A+7 || Then back to the Head in D- at 1:14 This bridge repeats in the solo section at 2:04 - 2:25 and 3:18 - 3:34 So cool! Just goes to show how many people are using the Fake Book version and just who has the changes right under his fingers. Head changes: D- | D- | G- | G- | E-7b5 | A-7 | D- | D- | F- | Bb7 | Ebsus | Eb | G-7 | C7 | E-sus | A+7 || Ammo
  • thanks man!!!

  • @RobertoStimoli you are completely welcome. Run the changes along with Burrell then try soloing over it - I have a tenor sax student who is just discovering how the chords relate to each other, and it's a great inspiration to him. I hope every Blue Bossa player discovers Burrell's Bridge. Cheers - Ammo

  • @ammofuzztone thakns for postn that too, i'm gonna get for myself but that helps for a starting place, there are a ton of versions out there and i agree sometimes the so called Real Books are just for a starting place and not always right ~

  • great !!!.....beautiful sound

  • Pace MegaStoki, the tune is Blue Bossa, I'm sure. The question is whether Samba is a subcategory of Bossa. I have not heard KB play a nylon string before. Another favourite added to the treasure chest. And I feel intelligent just being on the same comments page as Zarathustra and Ammofuzztone

  • @dingoswamphead bossa is a subcategory of samba.

  • THIS IS BLUE SAMBA, NOT BLUEBOSSA BUT BEAUTIFULLLLLL

  • ..sound ! ! !

  • I'm gonna put the chart up sooner or later, then everyone can play it like Kenny Burrell.

  • @ammofuzztone Good work fuzztone i have a mosrite fuzztone

  • moon and sand is my favorite album of kenny's beautiful work!!!

  • Really love this version with the bridge section. How come its not often played like this. Fantastic stuff.

  • WHAT?! There's a BRIDGE?!!

How many tedious jam sessions have I heard this tune played with just the "A" section over and over? Millions! The fake books don't have these changes. This is worth transcribing!

  • @ammofuzztone

Where do you hear the bridge?

    it's just impro, i'd say ;)

but tell me, where you hear it, and i try to play with it, than we will see.

    i just love it :)

  • @19Zarathustra89 The Bridge is played three times - this makes the structure AABA AABA AABA. The B section begins at 0:56 and 2:09 and 3:18. It's very subtle, but you can follow the chord roots from the bass line. Key of Dmi:

    C- F7 Bb | G- A7 D- | C- F7 Bb | Bdim E7 A7 |

Do you you hear it? The main thing is the B section ends on the Dominant chord. Without it, this tune is very boring!

  • @ammofuzztone

yes, now i hear, what you mean. but i wouldn't say, this is a bridge, it sounds for me just like kind a sequence, know what i mean?

already the first part of the melody is like a sequence, C- to G- and again back to C-, but the melody is quite similar.

when it changes to Bdim, there is used the mixolidic b9b13 scale.

and i'd say, this bridge thing ist just a sequence or a play with this mixo b9b13 thing.

  • @19Zarathustra89 well, now I've heard it, I can't un-hear it. Nobody else plays it this way, but I think they should. The more I listen, the more sense it makes. It's not by accident or improvisation, it's definitely structural. It's an improvement on Kenny Dorham's tune and it's totally Latin in flavour. Whoever the bass player is, he's genius!

  • @ammofuzztone thanks!

  • awesome!!!

  • beautiful phrasing!

  • this is a show that makes Brazilian music

    big hugs to all
