  • awesome truck you have there, shell be so sweet when shes done. keep it forever.

  • @frequencydude haha.. it is done.

  • Hemi, Hemi! Everyone likes a Hemi, if not.. then they will learn to! I had a 54 New Yorker. I wish I had pulled and kept the 331 Hemi that was in it for one of my future projects, it ran perfect.

  • @gearhead48 yep.. the 331 is the one thats sought after.

  • That thing looks just like the one I have.Mine was a ton & a half truck. It was my first attempt at building a rat rod. I had no idea how hard it was going to be until I got workin on it. Now, the only things that are original are the sheetmetal and the frame. I think I did okay at it for my first attempt. rpeek was my first inspiration on youtube.

  • Starting over from the beginning and going through the build...again! I enjoyed it that much and the bits in between too.

  • I've always loved this thing... Did you have two rear fenders with this baby?

  • @rpeek actually it had about half of one rear fender.. thats it.. I got a kick out of it when I removed the fender, it was held on by a couple of hardware store shelf brackets! haha.. it sure looks different now doesnt it. sometimes I go back and look at your first videos too.. fun to take the journey

  • @1963impala2dr It is fun to look back. I was thinking about those rear fenders, thinking they'd look good on the A model trailer I'm building..

  • @rpeek I figured thats what you were thinking of.. lol.. sorry I dont have them or they'd be on their way to your house!

  • Just bought a 1934 Chevy 1/2 ton in about the same condition as yours, I am not sure what I want to do with it yet but it is nice to have chevy instead of an old t-bucket or model a for a change. I hope more of these make it back on the road.

  • I would like the car as it is with the exception of uprated front brakes, lights and a fuel tank in the pickup bed. Original engine & transmission, unless there was a serious flaw like a weak clutch or something of that kind.

Electrically i'd like good lights to make people see me if they don't hear the rasp from the exhaust.

  • @NJPurling well, you can probably find one just the way you like it.. personally, I wanted something different.

    thanks for commenting!

  • Wow looking back the old girl has really changed. Rich

  • @ncautoman57 yeah, Im really old school and its hard for me to venture away from "original" but.. this has been a great journey and I've learned a lot. I think if I had it to do over, I'd still rat rod it. Its nice to not have regrets

  • @1963impala2dr I am excited about the truck. She is looking great. I like the modifications you've done. I have watched all the videos and waiting for more. If you didn't live on the other side of the US I would come and help! Take care. Rich

  • @ncautoman57 maybe its "you" that lives on the other side of the US! haha.. would love to have ya.. shoot man.. I'd welcome the help but you could even just sit and drink coffee and supervise if ya wanted to! come on over! :) Im going at these brakes tonight.. got a good gospel bluegrass station cranked and me and sparky are fabricating up a storm!

  • @1963impala2dr I would enjoy it for sure. Good luck with the brakes. Take care and don't work too hard. By the way wet the bottoms of your pants so they don't catch on fire if you do any welding tonight! LOL All jokes aside take care. Rich

  • I think people will still buy a v6, It would be different and that's what rat rods are all about.

  • its gone a different direction since this post,. I'm not worried about selling it anyway. thats my problem. never sell anything! haha..

  • I just picked up a '40 Chevy 1/2 ton in about the same condition! Can't wait to get it running and on the road, dents, rust, patina and everything

  • yeah, that would be something.. R, I probably wont drag this beast the 2,000 miles to the pileup! haha.. never know tho.. ive done some crazy things in my time

  • Yea, I'd always heard that too, about the old Chevy's and the wood. That'll make a honkin' project, no matter how you do it, although you have to admit that havin' that Hemi in it would really be a hoot! I'll be watchin' every step...

  • yeah, the cats name is Sparkplug.. :"Sparky" for short.... he's a ham

  • nice thats gunna be a sweet project!!!!!!

  • Nice Truck... Is That A Male Cat??? Just Wondering Saw Him Go By The Tire...My Cat Does The Same Thing When I Bring Something New Home... LOL

  • freaking beautiful man! and hey my freind, i didnt know what i was doing either. best way to learn it, is to do it. thats a gorgeous bit of steel there.

  • the hemi is a 241 from a 53 Desoto

  • Dang! '53? If you use that it'll be the same vintage as the Caddy in mine. Wouldn't we be a pair at the pile up, couple of '53's . hahahaha

  • doubt I'll put wood back in that cab.. I'd rather brace it up with metal.. BUT.. I know I want to get it solid before I take it off the frame so it doesnt warp on me.

  • I see you brought the project out. Good luck and keep the videos coming while you build this. Rich

  • was that a hemi put that in

  • That is a good idea to replace the wood parts in the cab, and interior before taking the cab off. looks like it's going to be cool!!

  • thanks.. I'll check it out.. I'd really like to keep that axle.. there is a place here in wa state that will build the springs to whatever weight specs i need.. thanks again.

  • Rpeek did a disk break conversion on his HotRod and did a good video of it. He could send u a link or just go to his page a look for it. It was a wile ago so u may hav to dig 4 it
