pink floyd are one of the best classic music of real 60s 70s artist, unfortunately the world going back wood with music , new generation been educated to fast and cheep food , games ,and music ,government went stupid people ,so the can be sent to a war easily
was at earls court in 80 and 81 and both shows were brilliant,,,, saw them at hyde park live8.... and the sight of them reunited was just amazing.... seen the wall twice this year.... fantastic but the earls court gigs were just the best..... still got my tickets £6.50..... happy days.
@uberkelvin people who listen to pink floyd care about sound quality something quite lacking at sites like Youtube, whilst Beliebers dont care about 240p or crappy audio, so they are all day stuck to youtube. Also, those little fuckers never get tired of Bieber, they can be all day listening to it.
Indeed this is pure magic. Yes he is dressed as a doc because the song is written as a doc speaking to a pain-ridden patient in the first part - well, you know - ""relax just a little pinprick"....and so on..by the way this I think is beautiful: "There is no pain you are receeding, a distant ship smoke on the horizon"... that´s so nice. No pain, get rid of it, spit it in the face!
I saw the Wall in 1980 and 30 years later in Nov. 2010 in Philadelphia. Like everyone has commented that it was like Page without Plant. The show was Great! I still would had loved to See David Gilmour There.
I wish roger would release the concert officially. The quality of the bootlegs are horrible! But the songs still sound great. Now think of how great they'd look & sound if Roger would release what he has.....
I saw The Wall on February 8, 1980 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. I recall this piece really well. David Gilmour was behind the wall, and got on a lift to play the last solo above the wall.
classic legendary song gilmour and pink floyd r real musicians why dont they put music like this on tv nowadays the so called best rock bands are people like coldplay or the gorrilaz these bands r closer to pop/hip hop thanreal rock music pink floyd could still kick their asses if only the youth of the world could hear this music it woild make musicians raise their standards

@robatron84 I would pay all the money I got to go back in time and see this concert. All the money I got and all the mobey I will get in these next years. Everything ! Well, my only consolation is that i'll see Water's Wall concerts in Portugal in March, 21and March 22nd 2011 :)
my brother had a stroke at 30 yrs old, my sister has ms, me my dad and my family love pink floyd, this song is taken in many ways...but to us it is personal..we get it, we love it...rock on forever..fantastic.xxx
I was a manager at worlds of fun in kc when they came through. they showed up at the park and I must say Dave Gilmour might be the nicest guy I have ever met.
If Any of you had really listened to this band like I have for the last 35 years you would not pick any of it apart or be so critical. They are and were and allways be "Great". This has been my peace and sleeping and sex and everything music all these years. When I want to escape- or feel grounded. This is it.!!!!!
I was curious at the intro who was playing the bass guitar as Roger Waters was singing without the instrument. David's guitar tone has sounded far better than this rendition, although his voice sounded fantastic. Lastly, (I hate to sound so critical) I don't think the piano adds anything to this song, much better without.
I have many bootlegs from this tour, and I happen to disagree with you re: the piano. I think it's great. The boot I have from LA, "Run Like F*ck", has arguably the best live version of this song by these four people I've ever heard and that piano rings.
Snowy White is probably behind the wall playing the bass. I also agree that David's guitar sounded better -- I think they did this song better in the States than they did overseas.
@MrDancingonyourgrave i bet it has to do with legalities and the band's not wanting it to be released....largely bcs the wrong film stock was used, so it looks dark and crappy....too bad...it would be great to have a crystal clear copy of this.
This is the one For festival 8. The first lyrics are "So ya thought you might like to go to the show" . Some of the last lyrics on disc 2 are "The Show must GO ON". All sorts of refrences to learning guitar, staying with the band, overcoming drug addictions and battles. Never mind the fact that Trey ripped off alot Gilmours licks. This one will be perfect for Halloween, I think Phish could nail the album with enough practice(Special gust Roger Waters). Perfect Choice for a Halloween Fest.
@shupzbruv he was high dude!..................actually, i bet the construction of The Wall was a pretty complex sturdy thing with lots of stairs etc for access.....i am sure there is much much written on it by people who know
This is the RAW audio, there's other versions which sounded godly only because it has been edited. This is the RAW audio. Dude, you can't get anything better than that, wow.
if pink floyd ever did one more tour, it would be the biggest one in history. would most likely be dark side of the moon and i would be there for every gig
I normally don't like guitarists that don't improvise the solos live but Gilmore made his so great the first time he recorded them there's no way for them to be better, i mean that in a good way
one sure way to tell when someone is an amazing guitarist, is when you try to play along to their songs, and you just give up, put your guitar down, and listen to them. i have given up trying to play along to david gilmour.
the solo isn't too hard to pull off...alot has to do with the having the right equipment. In this version, he didn't use a pinch harmonic at the beginning of the first solo, and the solo isn't exactly how it was originally.
I downloaded the never produced DVD of this concert a while ago off some weird website. It's really a shame the audio and video quality is so poor. The "Is There anybody Out There?" CD set is great.
Off the top of my head, I can't think of another guitarist who has such a distinctive tone and phrasing. Give me any three notes from a solo, and I'll know it's Gilmour. If he does the bend-hold-slow-release, it's one note.
