  • Ellaskins your tutorials are so awesome. SO awesome.

  • Hey ellaskins, thank you so much for posting these videos! I am a beginner DJ and they are incredibly helpful!

  • What if you want to leave the pitch control, and need only some fine-tuning? It'll go back to the original speed as soon as u take off your finder, wont it go?

  • So... First, when u moved the jog wheel, it was going back to the original speed as soon as you take your finger off from it... Now let's say you speed up the track with the pitch control, the track is for instance 130bpm, and u speed up to 132.00 with pitch control, and need some fine-tuning, you'll make it with the jog wheel to 132.25 for instance, but then how it wont go back to the speed you set with pitch control (132.00)?

  • can u do a vid on the numark icd dj in a box ... the one with the ipod jack

  • can u do a vid on the numark icd dj in a box ... the one with the ipod jack

  • can you scratch white the pioneer CDJ 200 ?

  • @Partybeatsmovies no. It does not have a vinyl emulation mode.

  • SOMEONE HELP me decide lol either THIS or a KAM KCD410 they are both very high quality with extremely affordable price ranges, the only difference is the Cdj 200 is about 130 dollars more expensive, does it have a considerable amount of additional capabilities that the KAM KCD410 DOESNT have to the point in which I should spend the extra 300 dollars more ?

  • Hey Johnathan...how do I use pionner cdj100's with virtual dj..what all do I need,...>?

  • @DJLATINSTYLE1

download the timecode off the VDJ website and you need to buy all the suitable equipment

    hope this helps :D

  • question like that ... Which is better ..cdj 100 or 200 ?? is there that much of a difference, are the effects way better on the cdj 200 or quite the same ??

  • Really like your Tutorials..always very good explained!

  • i know that trying to learn how to mix with CDJs without actually owning them is stupid but, with the pitch slider is there a way (like you can on DJ software) to use it to change the tempo without altering the song's pitch?

  • @wreck93 theres no literal way to just adjust tempo without effecting pitch -although im pretty sure on the new djm's the internal bpm auto-locks tracks that are in range of said master tempo.... However i've been told that when adjusting with the slider try to hit %.80 per beat (so %1.6 for 2 and so on) this is thought to be the 'magic number' when adjusting with the slider to match tempo.

  • @wreck93 Yeah there's a Master Tempo button above the pitch slider

  • ty man for the informations:)

  • would these be good for a new dj, its fairly low on price (compared to other models) and to me pioneer is a trusted brand

  • Song = Heartbeat by Qalo Mota .... absolute class track

  • Good lesson ellaskins. You should be (and probably are) teaching other things, not just Djing.

  • i looked on a shop, and i found out that the cheapest newbie ''set'' (i took some '' because i configured it myself) costs around 23000 norwegian money, is there any cheaper stuff in norway? and i am new at dj...

  • Do I have to have a DJ mixer? I already have a small 10 input Behringer mixer that isn't for djing.

  • Why use the jogwheel in a mix? Why would anybody have some cdj200's if they havent got a clue how to use them? Its quite obvious what the jogwheel is for ? =/

  • there are also people who want to buy those but before that they will start to learn a bit about how to use it.

i mean, u cant know from urself what the jogweel does, someone must tell it, now this guy here does that.

  • good explination, thx for this!

  • do you need a mixer for the cdj-200???

  • No, there is a 1/4" headphone jack in the back that has a separate volume knob.

  • LOL, you need a mixer to DJ altogether...

you can't play without a mixer.

  • dude i think if you're spending 800 bucks for a set up you should have a mixer ;)

  • WOW, you are so clear man. I guess I'm just going to save my money on a course, watch your vids and buy the equipment instead...

  • hey man great video

can you do a video showing the differences between the cdj200 and cdj400

  • There isnt much difference at all.

  • HOW MUCH DO THESE USUALLY RUN???

  • i think the jog wheels main use is for the sound effects on the cdj 200, all the stuff u talked about can be done with the pitch bend buttons. how did you mix befor they brought out jog wheels that u can adjust ur mix?

  • that isnt the main use, it makes pitching en beatmatching A LOT easier

  • Great tutorial, thanks man :)

  • cdjs are precise mixing turntables... they are not used to often to scratch. the 6% pitch control sensivility its the best feature... you can be more precise ... if you want to scratch id suggest the dns.1200, dns3500, dns3700,dnhs5500.

    cdj1000

    technichs mk2(vinyl)

    technichs mk5(vinyl)

  • Can A Cdj 200 be used with an ordinary mixer... :S

  • yea

  • can you scratch on a cdj 200 ?? cuz he said that the jog wheel increases and dicreases the speed of the song.. is there any button or something ?

  • no u can't

  • nope

  • vai se ferarrrr kkkkkkkk

    speck you ingles??

  • I just put one of these on ebay for like 100 cheaper than they go for ive had it for like 3 weeks if your interested just send me a message.

  • good tutorial, I find the jog on the cdj200 to be really loose. Takes alot of feeling out to get used to.

  • now i knew this stuff already but i was just wondering on how you do your tutorials. i LOVE it, even a 3 year old could understand it, you keep things very basic ;). Most people that make tuts make it and they are thinking tyhat people know some things already, you dont! awesome and keep it up

  • hello, I wanna know if it's possible connect the pioneer cdj 200 to a computer wiht an interfaz like AUDIO 4 DJ of native instruments or serato

  • i think you can do that with the digital out but im not sure

  • Serato yes. Dunno about the other cheaper versions.

  • Does anyone out there use the cdj-200 to play indie bands like cut copy, mgmt, gorillaz, phoenix, css, ting tings? It just feels harder to mix this sort of music than techno or house, isn't it? I guess cause the beats aren't so clear and regular. Can anyone give some advice to beatmach indie songs?

  • in indie songs, there is a lot of variation in tempo, so a turntable with a large pitch range would help. also- there are LOADS of super sick remixes out there for most of the indie bands you mentioned. thats what i mix with. the remixes. some remixes arent very similar to the original, but there are a lot that are similar, just with a house/ 4-4 beat.

  • thanks odubbs18! That was helpful.

I will get more into indie remixes.

My idea was to mix the original songs using the house technique. I was able to do this fine with my computer using "beatmatching", but now that i have to use these pionner at the club, do the mix manually may become a nightmare.

I got songs that go from 60 bpm to 170 bpm. Plus i have lots of differents styles and atmospheres. From indie bands that sound more rock, pop to electro. So remixes may be a good idea.

  • good luck

  • Simply set a cue or your start button. Count it off in your head and then set the BPMs the same first. Although I wouldnt suggest trying to beat match Indie music, that would sound silly.

  • Thank you so much matie!!!

I don't my hercules rmx and virtual dj to work properly at the club where I play music. So I have to use cdj-200 and cd's. Althought I'm used to press the beatmatch key on my controller and get the work done, now that i have to use cd's it's great to learn how to use this function through your tutorials. So thanks.

  • cheat

  • That was a very good tutorial 10/10.

  • what is the "digital out" outlet at the back of this compact player?

  • Its the 3.5mm jack output for recording your tunes/mixes. its a little output on the back of the player, i think its orange on the cdj 200.

  • Hey, loving your videos mate, learning heaps! I have a question though... Don't actually have a setup yet, but looking to get started.. Can you recommend some good equip to suit a beginner? Hoping to mix mostly trance, maybe some house

  • same here can you recmmend something?

  • Laptop,

MIDI controller (VCI-100, Numark TC, Behringer BCD 2000, maybe something from Korg's nano series),

a DJ soundcard like the Numark DJ I/O if your controller doesn't have a built-in,

    software like Traktor Pro

I don't think you should get some beginner CD/Vinyl gear for the same price or even more just because some people say "it's the real deal and pc is not"

  • hey i got a question..

If i had a cdj 200 and a behringer djx 700 and i want to connect the cdj-200 or the mixer to the computer... does it necesarily to have a mac or i can connect it to a pc? thanks...

  • Not sure which software you're going to use with that but most DJ programs run on Macs and Windows PC

  • couple of questions

if you were to connect the cd js to mixer and then computer, with the right dj software, would you be able to see the waveforms/control the tempo, pitch, cue's, loops etc solely from the computer?

Also, is there a way to change the tempo without changing the pitch?

and finally, does the cdj 200 have longer loops than 4 beat?

  • hey, i have a question, can i connect the cdj 200 to macbook?how?please help me before i buy that equipment

  • no the cdj200 dont got usb port so youll need to connect the cdj 200s to a mixer and the mixer to the macbook ( think). or youll need a soundcard for example serato scratch live or traktor scratch :)

  • Wait, so you have to buy a decent mixer, some software, and then you'll be able to hook it up to the Macbook?

What's the point in that...can you stream music through the computer directly to the CDJ instead of streaming music through mp3s or CDs?

  • yes you can with some cdjs but not with the cdj 200 ;) you can do it for example with reloop rmp3

  • The CDJ-400 supports USB connection to a computer

  • looking for small budget but good cdjplayer wich one will you guys advise

  • cdj-200 find one used for $200-250

  • thank you i am gonna get them

can we scratch whith the jog wheel?? thank u!

  • nah, u can't scratch =/

  • citronic and reloop is not that expensive and pretty good check em out

  • yo... Where can you find that stuff man. My fingers are bent from searching the web for a used one around that price!!

  • Great Tutorial!

I think I'm giong to buy the CDJ 200's (and a numark m3)... It's good enough to start with...

  • HOW MUCH DJ EQUIPMENT DO YOU HAVE?? your reviews are great!

  • heyy please johnathan can you do a tutorial on the loop feature !!!

  • you are great

  • he´s the greatest ;)

  • qst,,..

why does my BPM in my CDJ

keeps moving from 130 ro 131 or 132

    is this normal?

  • Depending on what you play, the song may not have a constant BPM.

  • Good job ellaskins! Thanks.

  • er no

    wazupp your arse

  • no talent dj

  • can you put the song on echo loop then take out the cd and put in a new one and start it ..... cause if it cant should i get this or the Denon DN-S1000

  • excellent tutorial, very clear.

  • As beginner DJ ( not even ever tryed ) Should I get Numark Total Control or a Pioneer CDJ ? I'm 16 year old. Don't want to waste like 500 - 1000 euro's because I bought the wrong one

  • In that case I reccomend the CDJ-200. It is a good beginners CDJ. It is a newer model than the 100, and it really feels more advanced. It's got a more accurate pitch-controll, mp3-support and you can press play/pause while your playing the track with the que-button held down, and the track keeps on playing when you release que. Once you get used to this it is hard to go back to the CDJ-100. :D

When it comes to mixers I would suggest Pioneer DJM-400, if it's within your budget.

  • The 400 has much better mp3 support than the 200, the 200 tends to work poorly if you have mp3's with "variable bitrate". Another bonus is the 400's "vinyl mode" and the extra effects, witch you can use for scratching if you want. The biggest advantage over the 200 though, is in my oppinion the increased accuracy of the pitch-controll.

The CDJ-400 could easily be an even better player than the CDJ-800.

  • I would recomend the CDJ-400. It does cost a bit more than the two others. But if you can aford it, I would say you get a lot more for your money than if you buy one of the other two.

  • how do u take out the vocals on a track?

    please reply

  • Read up on "centre channel extraction".

  • can u scratch with the 200?????

    please reply back someone!

  • no, u can't

  • are the 200s a good set-up?

  • they are quite relibal

    but...

i would recommend the the stanton c.324

i have two of these and they are wonderful

and down ward of 500 dollars american in price

but supeiror to the pioneer cdj 1000 mkII

but yes it is a nice peice of kit

    cheers,

    dj bang

  • whats the song name at 1:41

  • whats the songs name at 1:41

  • can u sratch with cdj-200 ?? lol

    tc

  • Is there any difference btw the Pioneer CDJ 800MK2 and the Pioneer CDJ-200 that you used in this video? I'm talking about the layout of the cdj. Pioneer CDJ-200 has a whole silver jog wheel, while the Pioneer CDJ 800MK2 has that "display" in the middle of it and while the song is playing it starts to turn. Thankx.

  • i have one this,but i don't like jog dial,you can't feel very well,when u mixing!!

  • this is confusing if you start the track too early surely you need to slow it down and not speed it up or else you will have bass firing over a top hat. And also the same if you start late, you need to catch up and not slow down ??????

  • Yes, Jonathan seemed to get these two things the wrong way around in the video. Everything else is correct though I think.

  • this is basically talking about beat matching huh?

  • Please tell me what do you like better cdj 400 or cdj 200?

  • The CDJ400 is better than the CDJ200, but it is also more expensive.

Note that the CDJ200 is an entry-level CDJ. Some distinguishing feature are not so great, but example, the track searching which is too slow, but in comparison with other CDJs of its kind (price range), it is actually the best, even if it doesn't have scratching ability (like a Denon DN-S1200, for example).

  • Thankx mate for your precise & professional info. top stuff, well done

  • im lerning alot of your video's

    thnx alot:D

  • Great video. I am very interesting in starting to mix, and this gives newbies like myself a great "foundation" to start with. Thanks a ton man!

  • umm hello there

i just bought the Audioline CDDEX2 Pro DJ Dual CD Mixer

i just wanted to know if it's possible to scratch on it???

    thanx

  • wat would be better to get... cdj's or tt's? i am just starting out djing and am looking for some fairly inexpenssive. but also... being a college student, i am concerned with saving space. so i feel like cdj's would be the better option for that purpose but wat are the disadvantages to cdj's?

  • What can you tell me about the Technics SL-DZ1200?? Which one you prefer, this one or the cdj 1000? thanks...

  • Well obviously the 1000

  • Please tell me what do you like better cdj 400 or cdj 200?

  • CDJ-400 is better :D

  • Can you please make a vid on the cortex-100

  • hey , can i use the torq exponent as a mixer, i had the pioner but no mixer, can i use the torq as a mixer???

  • so the cdj200 doesnt have the scratch feature?

  • Dude, your vids are great. You've got charisma and know-how, two things that set your vids apart from all of the others.

Only one piece of constructive critisism: you spent a bit of time repeating the basics.

Thanks for doing us a great service!

  • yup!
