me hace sentir muy bien darme cuenta que no soy el único loco en este planeta que le guste tanto esta música, es única., admiro mucho a pink floyd gracias amigo.
your nearly a lie..your nearly a lie! BUT you'r really a CRY..
A cry was heard in Philly that night when disco reigned supreme, when the Beegees and hair spray for men filled the living rooms of the day, before school, as Gerald Ford took over and excused Nixon. HEY YOU WHITE HOUSE...HA HAA Charade you are!!! NOTHING'S CHANGED...
Big man, Pig man...ha haaa Charade you are... with your head down in the pig pen saying 'keep on digging'
And that ... besides Bob Dylan on his Martin acoustic singing Hurricane ... was my mid 1970s introduction, middle and ending to the melding of music and disgust...
But how larger could PF's sound be? As Dylan simplified this Album continued to get larger with every listen and then, this concert. An experience for the agest. You F_____ed up old hag...ha haaa Charade you are .... you....
gotta stay awake gotta try to shake off, this creepy malaize ... everyone's expendible and no one has a real friend ...
I think the protagonist of this story is NOT you and me...we are better than that ... there's a positive life that transcended the gloom ... we are healthy, vibrant, creative, jammin a 335 and strat into realms not thought of, even by floyd. But what they did was genius, a report card for governments. They do flunk, but they CAN be redeemed if they "bow down in the end"
I told all the Tull freaks I liked Ian and Martin lots more at HersheyPark in 1975. We were all Tull freaks on those days. But this show, it wasn't about show, or performance. As much as I was enthralled by those Ian antics ... but what happened when Animals was published, when this concert, at least, was 'performed' was far beyond any of that... poetry at its root core slices fine lines through the diseased veins of society. Rock did that, thru Pink Floyd's dogs, pigs ... a Hammond, Strat...
we were all trained not to spit in the fan and were told what to do by the man ... and that's what Waters' mantra was that night ... we were all in awe ... I distinctly remember telling a friend the next day ... as I carried that inexplicable day-after-concert discernment ... Pink Floyd did more in Animals than they were called on to do. And we all GOT it last night at the Spectrum ... it was better than good music, or good art.. it was a reflection... and the image looking back...smelled of PIG
Space, that's it. Like looking at music meter and seeing no chords, just hearing distant dogs, at least four blocks of smoke filled haze to the south. But someone is whistling for those dogs. Pink Floyd might as well been a movie that night. A sound track to judgement on society. Society flunked, at least in Philthydelphia. These English guys had our number. I think Animals is a great soundtrack for protest...not against a policy, but against "being used," as Waters sang that night.
and when you lose control, you reap the harvest you have sewn ... and even at 16, I think, (i still have the ticket stub, I will check the exact date) there is an element of the harvest that turns to stone ... so have a good drown, as you go down, all alone ... dragged down by the stone ... What was this he sang of in Philly that day, that evening that changed the atmosphere? It wasn't a Wall, that's too dark, and distant. It's something else. Rhythm gave way to space... that's what it was like
If you didn't know what happened to me and I didn't know what happened to you ... then, then yes, this is a rock concert, after all. It's not the therapeutic thing that seemed to be happening at the time, melding time, space, color, the milk I drank for lunch ... I didn't even care that my Mom cut my hair. I knew that black guitar was doing something, extending to my soul, some electronic hummings, piercings, that ... that ... it had a 'smell' to it... a touch, too ... a pink odor ... good God
...but, alas, here comes Waters back to his job, his calling, his mantra against that Orwellian whatever that Animals represents. But it was the sound, and those unbelievably gargantuan stage props that said more in their shaking and drift, right towards me, peanut shells at my feat, my brother telling me to shut up -- I knew the words too well, after only two weeks with the album -- and it transcended rock, drama, statements ... art ... it was zig zagging thru my boredom and pain....
That pig, and several other building-size blow ups, drifted across The Spectrum from stage left towards my seat, as Gilmour pulled out of old Blackie the screams of Dogs and Waters -- head phones and all -- let the world know, through lyric, what he thought of it all. And Philadelphia loved it, just a little too much in 1977, and got a little to noisy, and Waters walked off the stage, to the same Philly boos that booed Santa at the Vet. Maybe the best concert of my life....at 17
Was 15 when this album came out. Didn't fully understand the political underpinnings, but the music kept me relistening. The edgy bitterness and sense of bottled up anger had a huge impression on me, even though I didn't understand why. Now, 35 years later, I have a deeper appreciation of what this album is all about. It's a true artistic document of late 1970s English political culture, encapsulating all the disillusionment, hypocrisy and fear that is still with us today now on a global scale.
the entire album is a concept based on Orwell's Animal Farm; taking it one step farther, comparing PIGS to bid business decisions that are based on Greed and Lies....comparing Sheep to those who follow and try in vain to maintain the status quo...and Dogs as those who will do anything to survive through this world.
God Bless Pink Floyd for their intelligent music and sensitive social commentary.
p-amiętam jak piotr Kaczkowski powiedział,że to koniec Pink Floyd.....a mnie się tak podobało.... a potem jeszcze wybucli...)the wall*em) a potem już ginęli..
its all about sid barret taking to many hits of L S D and left the band without a song writer so these guys wrote about what was going on in there lives at the time. lines like there someone in my head but its not me ,black coal for his eyes when david went to see barret after the LSD overdose he said it look like the guy ive known since elementry school but you can see hes no longer there
@stain22 That pretty much sums up the situation as I recall it from 40 years ago. David Gilmour came into the picture as it all began to unfold. Gilmour was also a childhood friend of both Barrett and Waters.
This album was a message about people's lack of empathy and the cold and unfeeling darkness that was washing over humanity at that time. In many ways it epitomizes the "me generation" and the materialism that would sweep over people throughout the 1980's, continue into the 90's, and land us right here in the turmoil that we are facing at this very moment. It's about the social conditions which have allowed us to get where we are today, in serious trouble.

@deansusky If it's the only schooling you got, this school of Floyd is clearly not conducive to teaching proper grammar. (Hear me out, I'm not criticizing you... I have no right too, considering to this day my computer still has to correct grammar from grammer... validating my claim of the Floydian effect of grammar)
Pink Floyd are one of the greatest bands to exist. We sound nothing like them now, perhaps later down the line after a few albums we'll start making stuff like this
Also... on the 8-track of this i STILL own !!!.... is the complete "Pigs On The Wing" (as one song) with Snowy White playing a guitar solo connecting the 2 "parts" (Snowy is currently playing with Roger on his WALL tour.)
I feel a little Orwellian now! All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. Four legs good. Two legs better! And remember........ Big brother is watching!
@antraxbreakfest69 Where in the fuck do you get this nonsense at, WTF does money have to do with nature, or The Wall's a requiem for the Post War Dream continued by the Final Cut!
@antraxbreakfest69 thats a decent comparison and interesting opinion. what would you say saucer full of secrets is about, or umma gumma for that matter.
this album illustrates a great philosophical insight: we are at root animals, yet we care, we love, and can briefly step outside of our own interests.. If only we try.
I think without a doubt that this was the best work Pink Floyd ever did. Time will tell, 1000 years from now this music will be as important as Mozart, Bethoven, Bach and the such. But thats just my opinion and I am not looking for insults. I just think its one of the greatest recordings of all time.
@Tonyaxes Wow. 1k years may be a stretch, as I doubt humans will be here then unless more of them listen to Floyd, but you are absolutely positively intuitive and correct in every other aspect and regard, and I applaud your ears and stuff betwixt.
Sure I haven't talked to my dad in a couple of years and he might be a total asshole but If there's one thing i'm thankful for, it's that he showed me godly music like Floyd
Amazing album! First memory of this is when I was a kid, my mother gave me this tape to listen to. I was lying on my bed in the evening, sky getting darker, I getting sleepy, dreaming away, tripping on the music...when my mom came to tell me dinner's ready :) I remember the room, the print of the sheets on my bed, and falling in love with Pink Floyd.
I first became a Pink Floyd fan at the age of ten. At the end of 3rd grade, I got really good grades and my dad bought me this tape as a gift. After hearing it the first time, I wasn't really sure what to think, and my dad felt the same way. But the more we listened to it, the more we liked it; especially the "Dogs" track. A true classic. This album came out the year I was born, and its awesome! One of PF's best!
Does anybody here remember @FabioSici? He had every pf album, every soundtrack, every solo effort by every member, and every 'lost' or 'unreleased' pf track available.......until he got banned by Youtube.
the relevance of this album has only increased in my lifetime since I first hear it in high school in the 1980's. And now as I transition into the life of an old man, I can't help but think there is nothing anyone has done that has made a difference. We are still subject to the pigs. We didn't do enough and now we are paying the price.
@99AliceinChains Best Pink Floyd cd...and I'll bet it's the best Pink Floyd vinyl...best Pink Floyd cassette....best Pink Floyd 8 track - which is even more true actually, because the 8 track version has a special mixing of "Pigs on the Wing" in which there's an electric guitar solo bridging parts 1 and 2, instead of them being on opposite ends of the album.
@dayvenkirq If you haven't heard that version, try searching "Pigs On The Wing (Parts 1 & 2)". It was uploaded by TheGabrielFloyd. You may have to scroll down to find it because there are also live versions.
Any questions? 1. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn 2. A Saucerful of Secrets 3. Soundtrack from the Film More 4. Ummagumma 5. Atom Heart Mother 6. Meddle 7. Obscured by Clouds 8. The Dark Side of the Moon 9. Wish You Were Here 10. Animals 11. The Wall 12. The Final Cut 13. A Momentary Lapse of Reason 14. The Division Bell
@paulc4567 idiot, ummagumma isnt a studio album and soundtrack from the film more doesnt count. Animals is the eighth studio album and the final cut is #10.
@dayvenkirq Here's another example: "Who Made Who" is a hard rock album by Australian band AC/DC, released in 1986 as the soundtrack to the Stephen King movie Maximum Overdrive. It contained a mix of greatest hits and several new studio recordings of new songs. Does this not count as a studio album for ACDC?
@paulc4567 Yes, it does count. Also, Queen's "A Kind of Magic", which is essentially the soundtrack to the movie "Highlander", also counts as an official studio album.
I'm sure we can find so many examples like these.
@dayvenkirq Soundtrack albums count as studio albums as long as it is all original material and all by the same band/artist. So that means the albums "More" and "Obscured by Clouds" (soundtrack to 'The Valley', a.k.a. "La Valle") are official studio albums.
I can't choose a favourite Pink Floyd Cd...this is my favourite bedtime one and at least that's a good choice. Turn it up and go to sleep....

The song played throughout the entire dream, and it was the best sleep I've had in days.

I think without a doubt that this was the best work Pink Floyd ever did. Time will tell, 1000 years from now this music will be as important as Mozart, Bethoven, Bach and the such. But thats just my opinion and I am not looking for insults. I just think its one of the greatest recordings of all time.
Tonyaxes 3 weeks ago 7
@Tonyaxes Wow. 1k years may be a stretch, as I doubt humans will be here then unless more of them listen to Floyd, but you are absolutely positively intuitive and correct in every other aspect and regard, and I applaud your ears and stuff betwixt.

Amazing album! First memory of this is when I was a kid, my mother gave me this tape to listen to. I was lying on my bed in the evening, sky getting darker, I getting sleepy, dreaming away, tripping on the music...when my mom came to tell me dinner's ready :) I remember the room, the print of the sheets on my bed, and falling in love with Pink Floyd.

arejayries 3 weeks ago
I first became a Pink Floyd fan at the age of ten. At the end of 3rd grade, I got really good grades and my dad bought me this tape as a gift. After hearing it the first time, I wasn't really sure what to think, and my dad felt the same way. But the more we listened to it, the more we liked it; especially the "Dogs" track. A true classic. This album came out the year I was born, and its awesome! One of PF's best!

the relevance of this album has only increased in my lifetime since I first hear it in high school in the 1980's. And now as I transition into the life of an old man, I can't help but think there is nothing anyone has done that has made a difference. We are still subject to the pigs. We didn't do enough and now we are paying the price.

99AliceinChains 4 weeks ago
@99AliceinChains Best Pink Floyd cd...and I'll bet it's the best Pink Floyd vinyl...best Pink Floyd cassette....best Pink Floyd 8 track - which is even more true actually, because the 8 track version has a special mixing of "Pigs on the Wing" in which there's an electric guitar solo bridging parts 1 and 2, instead of them being on opposite ends of the album.
residualbill 4 weeks ago
@residualbill I didn't know that.
dayvenkirq 3 weeks ago
@dayvenkirq If you haven't heard that version, try searching "Pigs On The Wing (Parts 1 & 2)". It was uploaded by TheGabrielFloyd. You may have to scroll down to find it because there are also live versions.

@TormentedReality Doesn't count? bwahahahahahahahah Go do your homework, asswipe.
paulc4567 3 weeks ago 8
@paulc4567 Gentlemen, are SOUNDTRACK albums and STUDIO albums the same thing?
dayvenkirq 3 weeks ago
@dayvenkirq It is, if that soundtrack was recorded in a studio.
paulc4567 3 weeks ago
@dayvenkirq Here's another example: "Who Made Who" is a hard rock album by Australian band AC/DC, released in 1986 as the soundtrack to the Stephen King movie Maximum Overdrive. It contained a mix of greatest hits and several new studio recordings of new songs. Does this not count as a studio album for ACDC?
paulc4567 3 weeks ago
@paulc4567 Yes, it does count. Also, Queen's "A Kind of Magic", which is essentially the soundtrack to the movie "Highlander", also counts as an official studio album.
I'm sure we can find so many examples like these.
residualbill 3 weeks ago
@paulc4567
no i don't think so. Who made who is more a kind of best of album
MotelinHeaven 3 weeks ago
@dayvenkirq Soundtrack albums count as studio albums as long as it is all original material and all by the same band/artist. So that means the albums "More" and "Obscured by Clouds" (soundtrack to 'The Valley', a.k.a. "La Valle") are official studio albums.
