so was this fairly realistic of what it's like up there? i mean the entire episode. i watched it, and said as soon as im out of culinary school i want to move to Portland man haha
Of course, it doesn't have the cultural depth of a big city like NYC, but for the relatively small size of this town, it's probably one of the best places to be in this country if you have a low cost of living and still want to be surrounded by a good quality of life.
I feel like none of the cooks answered his question about why Portland is a great place to be as a cook. It's because it's relatively cheap to live here and there's a pervasive culture of being able to capitalize on new ideas, whether it's food, music, art, etc.
Cali isnt really the northwest. maybe like Eureka, but i mean, lol. I love The bay area on up to Vancouver. its beautiful! Frisco, Eugene, Portland, Seattle <3
there's a song on this episode that i need to find. its at the end part with the duck diving. theres a haunting whistling tune. someone please help me find it.
You are more then welcome to come to Bellingham and relax for a bit if anyone says you can not be apart of the NW then they are silly... right but silly. I love this mans cooking he is so awesome
It's not about obsession. We are the Cascadian race, the people of the Northwest. Californians are the hated Alhambrans of the Southwest.

Anthony Bordain's overview of the Pacific Northwest is the most true and deep I've seen so far.
Can't say the same for the rest of this episode through.

Your wish is granted, it's arguably the most libertarian city in the union.

Once you get outta the city you meet some pretty down to earth farmers, loggers, and average people. But yup, portland is like that.
