i have the same set in custom amber fade, i love it. i replaced the original heads with evans ec2 coated and it sounds like a pro kit

It all depends on how you tune it. You should check some drum tuning videos (Check out Bob Gatzen's tuning series on youtube)

Thats what i did and now my bass drum sounds awesome. Just tune it quite low, and put a pillow so its touching the batter a little. Watch the Bob Gatzen Video's :)
