This was a great scene in WoL. You can see Jim pause just before he pulls the trigger because he realizes that killing Ariel is no different than killing Sarah... But he does it anyway. Touching! ;_;

can the cutscenes be on the lowest setting's ??? because my computer can't handle more than the medium graphig's ? if used a guest pass of my friends i could play the game in lowest settings no lag but when in higher lag so i was all the time online and din'd see any cutscen so can i watch a cutcen in lowesgraphics just wondering??? because im thinking of buying the game :) pls help
If retribution lags for you then its something wrong about your comp, to high graphic settings, too high audio settings or something were not right under instalation because i don't lag at all when i play retribution. Besides SC2 is a cheap ripoff from Warhammer and the game is allmost lazy made because of the lack of animations. What kind of person stands his ground and shoots when a beast rushes up at him and claws him up? if blizzard made some more animations i may have agreed.
WH have ripped of the races like Orks, eldar/elves, dark eldar/drow and so on. Still SC is an ripoff with the whole project they got from the gamesworkshop so in the end SC is not blizzards work alone, they just continued on what WH started. Besides WH got its own soldier style aswell do SC. And what kind of soldier stands his ground like nothing and fires a beast that tears him apart? They could make the gameplay a bit realistic. SC and WH got their good and bad differences, facts

@YellowKeaton for me, it depends on the extent of the infestation, if only like 5-8 people are infested, i would try to save the colony, but if the infestation is out of control, with half or more of the colonists infested, i would of helped the protoss, sometimes the best choice ain't exactly the nicest

you get to kill a big ass mothership that has invulnerability,(invul will be gone if u accomplish the objective)
so some of the other choices are canon, oh and she gives you a kiss on the cheek and says your a pretty nice guy and trys to hook up with you,though raynor declines.
one more thing, the mothership batle is hard as hell because the mothership is has backup, and you get to fight a bunch of carriers
Gotta wonder how things would pan our if you say.... had the zerg hive mind emulator researched during the cut scene. Would be funny just to use it like some sort of cartoonish hypno-ray.
In fact on that thought it would be interesting to see what would happen if you took pet zerg and augmented them with terran technology. Would be interesting to have let's say... an ultralisk that carries a bunker on it's back.
So hang on. If you side with Ariel instead of the Protoss. How does she get infested and killed. Because you can't have 2 different storylines where she lives in one of them. You can't have two different storylines at all really.. It's kinda confusing.

When you side with her the infestation is a grand total of 5 infested terrans in a quarantine pen.
When you side with the protoss, the infestation is rampant and it's taking over the entire planet.
Technically speaking siding with Ariel makes more sense since where would the zerg get all the biomass to create an army and the like? I mean the colonists were only infected with the virus, where did all the drones and such come from?

The cutscene that plays then Jim takes her back down to the planet and she tries to convince him to stay with her but he refuses then she steals a kiss and walks out the door. You also get a flag to put in the cantina with a note saying how they're going to form their own government and have the raiders to thank for everything.
she is mad...why the hell does she feel responsible for a dozen of dumb terrans who are going to get infested...is she their mother? their queen? the protoss are right. you aren't alowed to have second thoughts about killing ifested humans...they are Zerg already. There is no coming back for them. killing them will grant them freedom from a zerg-slave life.
@maxtenn11 Because she felt the responsibility of protecting her colonist. If I could remember correctly what I read, she was the daughter of the founder of Agria, or whatever. She had that responsibility handed down to her from her father. And Agria, so it went, had higher techs than Tarsonis. An ideal Terran world, if you ask me...
Kinda ironic how when I sided with her, all colonists died in the mission but when I chose to help the Protoss, I saved all 5 and still got this ending
Ariel wasn't infested all along, she infected herself with the zerg virus in an effort to find a cure before it was too late. Not the smartest thing but she was being rash while you went out to murder her people.
That and the cure isn't certain, for all we know Ariel and the colonists transformed into Zerg immediately after Raynor flew off into the sunset.
@chrisomen112 If you talk to Tosh afterward he talks about how the infected colonists visit the Core Worlds and spread the virus with them, and how you made a bad call giving in to the desire to 'save' them.
I swear, this scene scared the shit out of me. It's all quiet and then Jim looks at the tank and BAM, there she is. And I got caught off guard TWICE through this scene. The first when she shows up behind the tank and the second when she leaps at Jim. Both of those parts actually scared me. I thought I was going to have freakin' nightmares lol

It wasn't so much that the whole sequence was scary, it was more the level of tension building up before the sudden "OH SHIT ARIEL'S A FUCKING ZERG NOW" moment. lol The tank part got me good. Same with the quietness before she lunged at Jim. It was like you knew srs bsns was about to go down, you just weren't sure when, which is what catches you off guard.
HAHAHAH DUDE. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. I WAS JUST PLAYING THIS SHIT AND THEN I WAS LIKE...well, long term benefits...this cure doesn't really help anyone, and i've stuck my neck out for way too long for colonists that don't benefit the ship in any way.
This cutscene occurs if you either side with the Protoss to destroy Haven or if you simply do a lot of other missions and avoid the subject (as is apparent in this particular version since Jim already has the crystal in the Lab).

If you fight off the protoss, Hanson shares a cutscene with Jim and leaves to go be among the colonists. If she 'cures' the zerg infestation isn't clear, but since in the alternative she's fully infested, it can be inferred she at least slowed it.
probably my faovorrite cutscenes from the original Starcraft (sc 2 was sold out in like 7 different stores :( ) was the one wher they nuke the science vessal cuz it was like alien and doom Starcraft style :) and the one where aiur was attacked
The other choice she doesn't get infested, or at least cured. She stays on Haven with the refugees and asked Jim to stay with her, but he refused. Then she gave him a goodbye kiss and that's it.
@Wes2299 You have to kill a bunch of Protoss bases and blow up a unique mothership called the "Purifier", after that she thanks Jim and gives him a kiss before leaving the Hyperion to live on Haven.
@Wes2299 I chose siding with Ariel. She doesn't become infected. She stays behind on New Haven with her fellow colonist and asks Raynor to stay with her. Raynor refuses and she kisses him goodbye.
@Wes2299 if you side with Ariel she leaves the ship and joins the colonists and the protoss don't get that ticked off with you. oh and Ariel give jim a good buy kiss (after he rejects to go and start a 'life' with her) so its a soppy parting.
@Wes2299 You get 3 zerg points for research and she will not get infected and stay on meinhoff to colonize and gives a kiss to jimmy and thanks him for the all the help and the trouble sorry if i made any spoiler but i guess all of you played the game by now :D

So hang on. If you side with Ariel instead of the Protoss. How does she get infested and killed. Because you can't have 2 different storylines where she lives in one of them. You can't have two different storylines at all really.. It's kinda confusing.
Like when the trilogy is finished, how is the story going to be told?

@newmanr523 Reality alters depending on your choice.
When you side with her the infestation is a grand total of 5 infested terrans in a quarantine pen.
When you side with the protoss, the infestation is rampant and it's taking over the entire planet.
Technically speaking siding with Ariel makes more sense since where would the zerg get all the biomass to create an army and the like? I mean the colonists were only infected with the virus, where did all the drones and such come from?

@13JunkYarDog13 She was apparently already infested but if you side with her she develops a cure. The cutscene that plays then Jim takes her back down to the planet and she tries to convince him to stay with her but he refuses then she steals a kiss and walks out the door. You also get a flag to put in the cantina with a note saying how they're going to form their own government and have the raiders to thank for everything.

she is mad...why the hell does she feel responsible for a dozen of dumb terrans who are going to get infested...is she their mother? their queen? the protoss are right. you aren't alowed to have second thoughts about killing ifested humans...they are Zerg already. There is no coming back for them. killing them will grant them freedom from a zerg-slave life.

@maxtenn11 Because she felt the responsibility of protecting her colonist. If I could remember correctly what I read, she was the daughter of the founder of Agria, or whatever. She had that responsibility handed down to her from her father. And Agria, so it went, had higher techs than Tarsonis. An ideal Terran world, if you ask me...

Love how both decisions alter reality so they are the right ones.
i.e.
Side with doctor - everything turns out fine, you can save the colonists.
Side with protoss - colonists are beyond saving, Ariel was infested all along/was crazy

Ariel wasn't infested all along, she infected herself with the zerg virus in an effort to find a cure before it was too late. Not the smartest thing but she was being rash while you went out to murder her people.
That and the cure isn't certain, for all we know Ariel and the colonists transformed into Zerg immediately after Raynor flew off into the sunset.

I swear, this scene scared the shit out of me. It's all quiet and then Jim looks at the tank and BAM, there she is. And I got caught off guard TWICE through this scene. The first when she shows up behind the tank and the second when she leaps at Jim. Both of those parts actually scared me. I thought I was going to have freakin' nightmares lol

@Punisher4bmw I didn't say I had nightmares. I said I thought I was going to, due to how caught off guard I was. It wasn't so much that the whole sequence was scary, it was more the level of tension building up before the sudden "OH SHIT ARIEL'S A FUCKING ZERG NOW" moment. lol The tank part got me good. Same with the quietness before she lunged at Jim. It was like you knew srs bsns was about to go down, you just weren't sure when, which is what catches you off guard.

HAHAHAH DUDE. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. I WAS JUST PLAYING THIS SHIT AND THEN I WAS LIKE...well, long term benefits...this cure doesn't really help anyone, and i've stuck my neck out for way too long for colonists that don't benefit the ship in any way.

This cutscene occurs if you either side with the Protoss to destroy Haven or if you simply do a lot of other missions and avoid the subject (as is apparent in this particular version since Jim already has the crystal in the Lab).
SPOILER
If you fight off the protoss, Hanson shares a cutscene with Jim and leaves to go be among the colonists. If she 'cures' the zerg infestation isn't clear, but since in the alternative she's fully infested, it can be inferred she at least slowed it.

The other choice she doesn't get infested, or at least cured. She stays on Haven with the refugees and asked Jim to stay with her, but he refused. Then she gave him a goodbye kiss and that's it.

@Wes2299 You have to kill a bunch of Protoss bases and blow up a unique mothership called the "Purifier", after that she thanks Jim and gives him a kiss before leaving the Hyperion to live on Haven.

@Wes2299 I chose siding with Ariel. She doesn't become infected. She stays behind on New Haven with her fellow colonist and asks Raynor to stay with her. Raynor refuses and she kisses him goodbye.
