  • who packed that shit!!

  • You'd be amazed at how hard grass is when you hit it at that speed. I had a skydiving incident MUCH less serious than this and it turned my shin bone into splinters.

  • It wasn't her time to go. She is truely blessed!

  • God bless her .

  • Thumbs up if you saw this on the show "1,000 Ways To Die"

  • how is she still alive

  • if I remember correctly, she didn't do her E.P. properly and timely.....her instructor was negligent in letting her jump a main that wouldnt fit the container...DZ 1 wouldnt let them so they went down the road to DZ 2....

    Totally avoidable.

  • yes she died

  • Take up bowling.

  • @mikedamat bowling rocks

  • What happened at 1:53?? Why is she still connected and how would you disconnect on your own?

  • @TheSouthJersey Something went wrong with the packing. The rings are supposed to let go of eachother when you pull the cord, didnt happen.

  • Yes... Most experienced jumpers would have been fine. I've had that similar problems myself. But she was clearly a student. Seem's easy enough to release the other steering line to us and Captain Hindsight. But I dont know how I would have reacted to it on say my 3rd jump.

  • Ive only jumped static line round chutes but if your toggles get all fucked couldnt you just pull a slip to counter the spin?

  • Yeah, this girl didn't properly execute her malfunction drill and payed for it. The reserve should have worked perfectly, and the fact that it didn't is a different story, but she said it herself, "that my [her] life was in my [her] hands..." and instead of fixing the problem, she made the secondary chute her primary decision. I can say this confidently because yesterday I had a line over malfunction on my parachute yesterday and pumped my breaks to fix it. Oh, & that was my second solo dive.

  • how do you forget to pull the toggles down? If i was spinning I would pull the shit out of them in anyway i can.

  • @xdaughertyx right on! I guess not everyone is made for this sport, some people just freeze up because of fear or whatever, and those people should not be skydiving.

  • i woulda punched the reserve packer real hard

  • perhaps she shoulda pulled the tab to release the other brake.....der

  • Comment removed

  • The REAL malfunction was with the toggle actuator.

  • Glad no one is really making stupid comments about this because it's not a laugh!!!

  • Yeah she died..

  • why would you want to jump out of a perfectly good aircraft?

  • @danusia115 I didn´t liked the color

  • @danusia115 Why jump out of a perfectly good aircraft??? For a Perfectly Good FReeFall :D.... i should make that a T-SHIRT haha

  • this is such bad programming.... the words of the jumpers are totally made up by the tv crew to make a stupid skydiver's fck up sound a bit more "amazing"..

  • @Born2flyfree1 the "amazing" thing for me is the real life footage of all this happening - pretty rare to see something like this

  • She had 2 perfectly good parachutes.

    Was her own stupidity.

  • thats why you shouldnt buy your parashute at eBay

  • DID SHE DIE???......LOL

  • 0:32 "She was falling towards the ground". Very clever statement, as if you can fall in an other direction.

  • @Snowwie88 HAHAHAHAHA

  • tv mixed original record with reconstructions, so what was the original failure on the reserve? slider hesitation and prgressive spin?

I really feel for this guy. I seen my own wife falling with full MP failure (PC in tow) and this is no fun at all.

    Glad she is OK.

  • why is that everyone manages to hit the concrete?? theres like 100000 miles of grasss wtf???

  • @andriaaam :)

  • omg..i hope shes ok. but she is doing an interview, soo maybe lol

  • eina sau, ziaurus variantas

  • License to Drive- PUMP DA BRAKES

  • пиздец

  • parachutes work people don't. Like trev said emergence processors are cut your other toggle. And find a better rigger

  • Good girl glad she make it... Good skydiver.

  • this is what happens when women leave the kitchen

  • @connormichaelburden

That's cruel - but very funny indeed :)

  • I wonder if she finished AFF.

  • I usually don't like to spam but this reminds me of some Jackass video I've seen here on youtube ... where one of them jumps out of an airplane WITHOUT a parachute! Gotta be some kind of feeling ...!

  • She looks like Amanda Bynes.

  • Rico Rodriguez must have A LOT of reserve parachutes =)

  • Mmmmmmm

  • Does anyone know how it is this show called on National Geographic???

  • Inexperienced, due to training americans don't give... She has a parachute for inexperienced skydivers (which is about 230/240 ft square), which untangles very easily. Pumping the breaks is the first thing you have to do (twice), when your chute opens, to make sure everything inflates well.

We could also put the blame on the guy who folded the reserve chute, apparently he was not trained well too.

  • @endorse80 I'm American and I got the training... why are you generalizing?

  • @endorse80 you know everything about American skydiving huh ? only idiots assume they know everything about everyone. blue skies !!

  • @TheDouchesupreme I'm sorry to tell you that most of security issues regarding skydiving happen in the US due to a lack of regulation. Like everything else in the US, sign the paper= no lawsuit possible. Having lived in the US and jumped in the US, I can tell you that by comparison to European Dropzones, security is not the primary concern....

    Nice base jumping video btw!

  • @endorse80 at my home dz at least everyone looks after each other like family. what dz's did you jump at here in the States that were insecure ? statistically europe and the us have near the same fatalities each year, check dropzone dot com for stats. in fact europe has had some years of higher fatalities so i can't see how you can just site made up bullshit as if it were factual. we'll have to agree to disagree. Blues !!

  • @endorse80 i forgot to add that the statistics on dropzone dot com are for the whole of North America not merely for the States. one would think that if the U.S. was as bad as you say there should be some factual proof but there's only your word which i must rebuff as my experience is completely different than yours. still curious what DZ's here in the states were so terrible that you feel the need to generalize the whole of American skydiving as substandard or unsafe.

  • Well, When this happens Get out of That Chute and deploy the Emergency CHute :)

  • this is a women cooking mid air.

  • this isnt parachutting

  • this isnt freefallling.

  • aww she could have had just instead made me a sandwich.....:S

  • @redeljann aww thou should have just gone made learning at school......:S

  • She did a lot of mistakes! She could pump the other brake and before this, if the line had a problem, it's a problem of bad maintenance!

  • I think this is a fake. U can see that her reserve got some line twist at opening but at 2.28 it is a working parachute. Just some make up for the interview and some media coloured panic. And that nousy 'snap' is said to be about the one brake getting loose. If thats what happened then she could just take the other brake loose. Instructor is yelling bump the brakes, it is good advice if your slider gets stuck up but it doesnt help for line twist.Instructor doesnt make error only some fake tv add

  • @MrPiski1 Yes she probably just forgot to release the other toggle on the main. Second, yes the student side of the video is staged, no student should have a camera on them. Third, what she had on the reserve definitely wasn't line twists. It was most likely a tension knot which caused the slider to get hung up and initiated the turn. In this case, yes pumping the breaks would help release the tension knot and bring the slider down.

  • @MrPiski1 of course the video is fake...its a re-enactment of an event...no common sense

  • Someone wants her dead. I blame the butler with a knife in the kitchen.

  • did she die hahaha and shes sat there telling you what happened. realy? i mean realy realy?

  • Undo the other brake you stupid bitch?

  • @fowlkenz easy to criticize until it happens to you.

  • Yeah you got a camera but not something soft she could land half the prize on..

  • lol, JUST 3000ft, that's about the average height most people take their first jump

  • did she die?

  • @Xenocidal hence the inteview...... :P

  • VERY misleading title

  • This looks like pilot error and then panic. The error was accidentally releasing one brake. The solution is to notice this and to release the other brake. She panicked and cut away an operational main. The reserve deployed but had a hung slider. The instructor is now yelling "pump the brakes" which usually loosens the slider but she freezes up. She still had several slider and spin correction options up to a PLF all of which she failed to even attempt.

  • @fuzzy4ever9 You forget to suggest the assumption that maybe it was her first time.

  • @fuzzy4ever9 Perfectly explained. +1 for actually knowing WTF is going on :)

  • @fuzzy4ever9 this is a good report

  • @fuzzy4ever9 yup this happened on my tenth jump i went into a spin because i guess i failed to pull the left toggle down fully... i said a prayer and cut away luckily my reserve opened legitimately and i managed to pull down both toggles and not end up like this girl.... such a crazy feeling looking up at the white chute knowing it was your last hope between life and death... afterwards my instructors started teaching people to pull the toggles down HARD haha

  • @fuzzy4ever9 but in all fairness though, who knows how you would react in that situation of impending death?

  • Damn she has bad luck

  • " Pump the Breaks!"

    "Theres NO FUCKING PEDAL!"

    *man thinks to himself OMG!*

  • @unknowngypsykiller LOL! "womens"...

  • @unknowngypsykiller ACTUALLY in the skydiving world the "flaps" that turn the parachute is called the "brakes" and the lines that control them are called brake lines.

  • did she died?

  • nightmare

  • just like scott lutz, some people are just too stupid to skydive.

  • @supershinobi223 its not that she was stupid guy. its that she was a RARE double malfunction statistic. her main brake lines snapped...it happens...she could have let go of the left brake line, and then used her risers (the 1" wide webbing connecting thw shroud lines to the harness in conjunction with a 3-ring release system)...

  • rip susan

  • 1:42 did he say a "Velcro snap"? Why is a parachute fastened with Velcro?

  • Did she die? They usually don't when they have a parachute, even if it's malfunctioning like this. They're still not going free fall speed.

  • @kamratframjandet did she DIE?? are you serious? She was talking to the camera about it, so she MUST have lived hahahaha thank you for the laugh kamrat

  • 32 People had this happen to them

  • what he is telling about an exploding watermelon and the woman is talking? omg what is this?

  • parachuting is awesome but this is the reason why I'm scare

  • Both parachutes worked, though good point about unstowing the break and the spin it caused. Though I'm told landing using risers alone is difficult and dangerous, at least she would only have broken a leg or two... Just got my A license-I'm glad I saw this video-thank you!!

  • Comment removed

  • She shouldn't have cut away her main canopy. All that happened was one of her break lines came loose during deployment. If she would have released her other break, she would have started flying straight. When a rig is packed the break lines are set to half break, so, when it came loose prematurely it started her in a spin that could have been easily corrected.

  • oh my, i really love the quality of the ng videos here on yt, but not showing the outcome of this is really not the kind of quality i expected from ng ...

  • @hedgehogtk She survived it.

  • But she survived it?

Why don't they show what happened?

  • What are the chanvmces of both parachutes not working. Fucking ridiculous.

  • I am going into the Army as a Parachute Rigger and this scares the crap out of me. It's why they make us jump all the time- you never know which shoot is gonna be yours so you make them perfect every time. It's good to learn what not to do too in case something goes wrong... since you will be like a watermelon on the ground if you screw up... EEEKKKKKK!

  • @Wildflowergraham just asking.

isn't different in the army with the "sting" that open the chute for you?

or is this some kind of seal training?

  • Part 2 please??

  • so much grass and she picked the small parkinglot...

  • @douwethaman You realize she had little to no control of where she was going right?

  • REAR RISERS! Steering line problems shouldn't put you face down in a parking lot. At a minimum, she could have guided herself to soft ground and arrested her descent rate considerably. To all you naysaying whuffos this should not happen in the sport of skydiving. Especially since she has done multiple jumps (only one instructor, not two) and should have, by that point, practiced rear riser turns. She panicked, froze, and didn't do what she was trained to. Simple as that.

  • @xxxxemo4everxxxx You're actually not falling at 120mph when you're under canopy. And yes it is as easy as "all you have to do" because you train for skydiving and you study what to do in every situation, and if your brain can't function correctly while you are under a malfunctioned canopy, you do not need to be skydiving. It's that simple.

  • Kosiba what a Einstein you are, thanks for letting her know what to do after her near fatal crash (that's write she lived). Everybody that skydives has different situations and must deal with them accordingly. You are an idiot!! You are the dumb redneck, worse yet you are a piece of shit!

  • i've only got like 30 jumps but if one of the brake line snaps, can't she just release the other one to compensate? and then just use the back straps to maneuver the canopy? Also she should look after her equipment and spot things than needs to be replaced. Btw i'm swedish so I don't know all the english words for the different parts.

  • i hope the FAA investigated that skydive company, because it looked to me like she was using student equipment, and whoever the rigger was who packed that reserve should have his licence revoked, and what about rig maintaince, why didnt anyone spot the worn velcro and replace it, that poor girl did everything right, and the equipment they charged her to use was a death sentance......almost....SHUT DOWN THAT DROP ZONE.

  • Why didn't they just put out a trampoline for her to land on?

  • did she die??? lol jjkk

  • @sarakaster

The camera is strapped to the guys helmet... If you were him and you were watching someone about to die right in front of you, the last thing on your mind would be the camera strapped to your helmet..

Priorties change when youre under stress.. For example, if your house is on fire and you're in the shower are you going to stop to get dressed before sprinting out the door into the street.. No..

  • Thanks for not telling us the aftermath of the crash... xd

they could at least said : she's alive / she's dead

  • @Kolashov

She is giving an interview... do you think she survived? lol

  • @trev050175

    holy fuck i'm dumb O_o

  • @Kolashov

haha happens to the best of us :)

  • @trev050175

thank you my kind american friend. :)

  • @Kolashov

eh???? How very rude !! lol

    I am English!!

  • @trev050175

excuse me young Trevor mannnn 8)

i seem to be full of FAIL on the internets :o

  • @Kolashov

    Haha no worries bud

  • @trev050175 yes, of course, she survived. but you coul see the results of the face-reconstruction work in this interview...

  • @fuzter2007 Yes I know. I was replying to a guy that asked if she had survived..

  • @jjjazzycraig How many jumps have you done. With a chauvenistic statement like that, I'm assuming you're a man. I probably have 1300+ more jumps than you. Take that like a man and get cooking in the kitchen. Bahahahahaha!

  • @jjjazzycraig How many jumps have you done. With a statement like that, I'm assuming you're a man. I probably have 1300+ more jumps than you. Take that like a man. LOL!

  • Did she died!?

  • I WANNA KNOW HOW IT ENDS!!!! obviosly shes alive, which is good, but shouldn't see need stiches of something? I REQUIRE CLOSURE!!!

  • notjsb She was pumping the brakes

  • @Studman2011 dude man not funny if that happend to you....

  • @abongnelah nothin would happen to me cause im SUPERMAN NIGGA!

  • @Studman2011

i hope one day, you jump out of a plane, and die dude, seriously.

    how is that even funny

  • she should have aimed for the grass. Luckily she survived though.

  • @rockhardxrocker how the FUCK could she have aimed for the FUCKING GRASS.her parachute was not FUCKING WORKING.

  • @2010guchi It was not working at full capacity. It was malfunctioning, but that doesn't mean it isn't functioning at all. Malfunctioning parachute is greater than no parachute at all. I doubt she would have survived otherwise.

So the malfunctioning parachute was still working somewhat, and I think enough so that she could have used it to direct herself.

  • @rockhardxrocker she was spinning on a tangled parachute, she couldn't control it

  • @rockhardxrocker are you stupid... you can't aim for the grass when your spinning out of control. That has happened to me before i had to use the reserve parachute. And that worked. Was most frightening thing i've ever experienced

  • @rockhardxrocker More like a pool lol

  • women belong in the kitchen, not out doing man things.

  • Ow, straight onto concrete... she coulda aimed for the grass >.>

  • @Scwirul lold

  • @Scwirul How can she aim, when shes uncontrollably spinning around in circles?

  • @Scwirul *sighs* It was a joke.

  • what is the name of this series?

  • what is the name of this series?

  • I've taken up skydivers in a Cessna 206 before...but Me? jumping out of a perfectly good airplane.....not on your life.

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43

Perfectly good plane? I haven't seen one.

I would rather be in control of my landing, instead of someone else being in control. Take me up, and let me out the door in the rear so I can land myself! Thanks!

  • 1:35

  • "Luckily my neck broke my fall.."

  • what complete madman realises the tragedy happening here and keeps filming from the ground...? really don't get that...

  • @sarakaster r u nuts? what would those people do? jump up and catch her?! listen if u skydive and ur rig malfunctions, ur on ur own. nobody else can help u and in fact its better if other skydivers stay away from u too... ud pull them into ur own shitty situation and probably everyone else involved would die. u get a malfuction, u deal with it urself cuz thats the only way.. period.

  • @jumpMATTjump

it makes a BIG difference between simply noticing that something terrible is happening and realising u cannot help and on the otherside KEEP filming someone who is in terrible trouble or goin to die.

NEVER EVER would i keep filming if a friend is about to die...it's just awful.

That was my point, cause it's my opinion.

The fact that u can't help doesn't justify to film the (putative) death of someone

  • @sarakaster that lady didnt die. they interview her after the jump. and besides they can use the video for teaching purposes for other skydiving students.

  • @jumpMATTjump

usualy people die in that kind of accident...so that argument doesn't count for me.

Filming a human being in the face of death is for me narcissistic (oh she's probably goin to die, but i keep filming cause the all won't believe the footage here! But I dont do it for me! yeah.). Imagine u hav a terrible caraccident with open wounds and bones and everything, almost dead and people come to film u with their mobile phone - yeah all because others can learn from it! OF COURSE!

  • @sarakaster ur completely missing my point about the learning part... this student obviously made mistakes during her jump.... so this is a good video of "what not to do." thats 1... now 2: she doesnt seem to be pissed off about this... she was probably pretty happy shes got this on video... if she ever jumps again she probably wont make the same mistakes...

  • @jumpMATTjump

no I get your point and you opinion on that and it's ok.

It's just now what i would do or would like "to be done" to me, that's all.

I was wondering and questioning what goes through the head of those who film

such footage we all can now see on youtube...and I'm not sure that there intention is always for the greater good, you know...

    But I got it, it's alright ;)

  • @sarakaster alright man! nice talkin to u!

  • @sarakaster I doubt he was worried about his camera, or any philosophical arguments that would result in it being on. He was shouting at her trying to help. If she died, having video proof of what happened would help determine if the packer was at fault or if she reacted the wrong way etc. and could save lives in the future. Have you even been skydiving?

  • @kcajla3

you know, I already made my point here with jumpMATTjump and Deadcombat...just read it, if you like. For me it's wrong in an ethical way. So I don't care what the use of a video of her falling afterwards might be - that doesn't change the point.

We don't have to agree on that one and I don't wanna convince anybody here.

You think he did perfectly right, fine - your right to do so.

An please don't come with the "practice what you preach-card" now...

  • @sarakaster agree to disagree. didn't plan on it, lol

  • @sarakaster what else do you expect him to do?

  • @Deadcombat

to stop filming, as i already said...

For me its a question of piety. If a friend of mine films me and my wife jumping and she is about to fall to death (for everyone to see) and i ask him afterwards what he was doing and HE tells me: I kept filming, I probably punch him in the face ;) I mean u just don't film somebody you know coming to death, that's just terrible wrong...and the fact that you can't help, doesn't justify to keep filming...well be just my opinion...

  • hmm maybe someone wanted her dead..:)

  • people amaze me... this was her first solo dive and she hit the ground @ 50mph. she had to have many many surgeries to repair her face.. she also broke her hip.. on top of all that when she was at the hospital she found out that she was 3weeks PREGNANT! when she had the baby months later her pelvis still wasn't fully healed. she and her baby survived all that.. yet my neighbor died from falling off a 6 foot high ladder. wtf???

  • @7twatwaffle7 Lol, thats like someone getting shot with a 9mm and dieing and someone getting an 81mm mortar and surviving.

  • @7twatwaffle7 The world is really fucked up sometimes. Falling thousands of feet and surviving a 50MPH impact to the face. Yet someone con die falling oof of a ladder. sad how things work sometimes. She put herself in danger and still walks away and another person was not and dies from it.

  • Oh she dead

  • @popsticky09 wow if she was dead how would she be narrating

  • @thecolinnader it's a joke don't worry

  • @popsticky09 lmao
