Shugden or Dhoegyal is not protector deity of entire Tibetan Buddhist. Nyingmapa and Kagyu do not accept it. Few Gelugpa masters worshipped in 19th century but not without controversy. Wholesale worship of this deity resumed after passing away of 13th Dalai Lama and coming into exile. Who ever said they prayed for enhancement of meditation is wrong. They pray it for material gains .Buddhists believe in spiritual advancement towards enlightenment not material achievement.You guys are serving CCP

The simple reasons that the Tibetans abandon Shugden are:

1) Shugden Kills and so do his followers. That is against Buddhist principle. Many prominent Lamas are said to be killed by Shugden. The followers also kill people. In 1997 they killed a great Geshe named Lobsang Gyatso who was ordained as Gelong. How can you kill a gelong?

2) Shugden and his followers use Chinese force to destroy Tibetan unity. The Chinese uses Shugden followers to crack down on the religious freedom.

I am a Tibetan and worshipper of buddha. In the all the buddist canon, over 250 volumes called Kagyur, the Lord buddha never mentioned about this deity. If you check with Hinayana and Mahayana sutras, text, they never mentioned about this deity. Over 500 Indian Sidhas and Pandis who wrote extensively on buddhist teaching, they never mentioned about this deity. So who do I believe that this is even a buddhist practice.

Look up Wikipedia, this was a strange sect that did develop within Tibet. But ban by several high profile Tibetan Lamas Lamas in the past. I saw a programme about this group based in the UK on the BBC years ago. They have I believe stop their protest. The DL is within his right to settle theology questions about tibetan faith kind of like a buddhist pope. Not in favour of the violence associated though.
