Great looking build! I'm a MegaSquirt man, myself... Havent built a V8 with it yet... one motorcycle and one VW trike... I've always wanted to have a flathead V8 on the back of a trike heheheh
This is the best sounding flathead I have ever heard. Can you give us the specs on this engine (cam, heads, ignition, etc)? Would you consider selling this engine or a duplicate? Terriffic job..thanks...jc
The Ford Flathead must be one of the most beautifull good looking V8s ever made, first massproduction V8, an classic, still popular and maybe the most popular HotRod V8 choice for HotRodders, as stated, a classic engine.
Looks great when painted in red, blue and black, but also in other colours, i would prefer red.
But, in my oppinion, the most widest HotRod engine, seems to be the 392 Hemi, it's wider than the flathead but not as nostalgic as the flathead, i think.
good stuff cheif, coil packs and crank triggers make everything easier. hell stand alone engine controls save a ton of cash in the long run, especially if they can pick up critical engine perameters. keep up the good work
Wow! Sounds really good. I'm looking to keep my flathead 218 in my 1941 WC12. I would like to see you make a short video explaining your set-up, what you used and so forth. Thanks for what you posted though and hope you show off a little more!
Glad to see someone is able to make computerized fuel injection work. I put Retroteks Stromberg look alike 6X2 EFI on a small block and it runs like shit. What computer did you use?
Thanks for the comment, I am using Electromotives Tec3r computer. I am now running 4X2 full sequential injection. I used gutted Ford 94's for the throttle bodies, didn't want to make two more injector housings.
I didn't document all of it, just some pictures and drawings. The Harley build sounds awesome. When I decided to build the fuel injection for the flathead I also removed the distributor and installed a crank trigger on it. The injection and crank trigger is controlled from a computer mounted behind the dash.
If you have a good radiator, clean block (water jackets), correct timing, good fuel ratio and no cracks they don't get hot. Dad used to pull trailers when we moved with the flatheads and didn't have a heating problem but I had a 60hp flathead and all of the above was good and that sucker would boil water like a steam engine.

what is the fuel economy
salazarich 1 year ago
by injection you mean injection into the throttle body... so theres not an injector for each cylinder..?
dmellow45 2 years ago
Correct, using four injectors but I now have replaced this unit with 4X2's which are using eight injectors (one per cylinder)

what kind of power are you makeing and how fuel efficent is it?

@Nogomcnow
Where did you locate the injectors, I can't see them in the video. Extremely clean sanitary set up, beautiful work!

@redcoats2006 Retrotek?! Nice. Expensive. though. I wonder if I could do it with a single retrotek throttle body...

Whats the max you can bore these to before overheating becomes a problem.

Doesn't sound like any flathead I have ever heard, stock or hot. Even the starter sounded different. This engine sounds GOOD!

Made the bases, throttle plates to low in the bore (Stromberg,94's)for the injectors to fit under.

I'm told the flathead is a bitch to keep cool is this true.

I love how the RFI from the plug wires interferes with the audio... Flatheads rule!

NICE! Sweet sounding engine. You should publish how you fuel injected it. What ecu did you use?
