How do you clean the tanks that are over 40gallons? You do a complete take out the whole entire water out and replace it with new water?

@folsomtu Right now I only have a 150. Maybe once a month I drain 60% and refill it. THis is mainly to clear the water from tannins.

i was thinking of getting two baby turtles a mud and a musk. how do you think theylle get on cos i dont want them killing eachother???? and how easy are these two types of turtle to care for like effort wise and financiall ???? xx

@1forharry Well, it all depends on the turtle's personality. They can get along for years and then start fighting. They are not social animals by nature. I would look into some care guides, but considering they are a smaller species, they are easier to the wallet.

hey, i'm getting a turtle and i really want a musk, what type would you reccomend like common musk, razor back etc, i don't want him too big and i deffo want a boy, if you could help that would be great :)

@Taylorrosee96 For smaller musks I love Common Musks and Stripenecks. Stripenecks are more difficult to find and much more expensive and grow to about 5 inches while common musks are 3.5-4 inches usually. Other than that they really are the same interms of care. If you want a boy, you will need to buy an adult generally. Hatchlings are too small to sex out right. From there its up to you.

I've never had a pet turtle but I'm thinking of getting a musk turtle after move. We have turtles in the ponds around our apartment complex, but I have no idea what kind they are though.

do your water heaters have cordsto plug into the wall? What brand do you reccomend for me; i am getting a southern painted, eastern Painted, red eared slider, and rio grande red eared slider; is the heater relevant to the species of turtle?

@Velociraptors15 Yes, all have regular electric plugs. None are self reliant. The heater is not relevant to the species but to aquarium size. I love the I think it is, Marine Land Stealth heaters.

Hi, should i get a common musk turtle? (Stinkpots) or a razorback musk turtle.. Just as pets.. And im not a beginnner but not an expert, so more like in the middle.. and im also looking for the smaller turtle.. what do u recommend?

@Al3xX256 SMaller turtle go for a stink pot. They have been seen at 5 inches, but that is andre the giant sized. Usually they are 3-4 at most

@dazler608 I would recomend unless you are highly experienced do not go or most North American Mud Hatchlings they are Very fragile. Make sure you do some reseach

@EcBuddy123 I got the slate from a landscaping company for .27 cents a pound. Cheaper than my pet store that wanted 1.99 per pound for ugly red slate =P. Check a landscaping place.
