  • Great playing. This is definitely a solo he's put together and has been working on for a few years. There's a recording of this tune on a bootleg album from '41 (Charlie Christian Afterhours) where he plays a lot of the same material. This is easily my favorite version of Stardust.

  • @Swingman1937 In my travels abroad many yrs back, I've found the selections you mentioned and a few other like "three AM" on a compilation on the "TAX" label.. Other than the 78 release, that's the only label I've known to release this material inCD..

  • Outblows "Hawk" and" Ben" but "lost in shuffle" to America because of move to Europe. A shame. He Rocks!!

  • Hey!

I've had the 78 of this (and the other 3 cuts from this session in "Stardust", "Slam, Don't Shake Like That" & "Dark Eyes" on the "American Records" and "International Records" labels) for 23 years & have never found the mystery of the origins of this session.

What label was the CD issued on?

  • @SwingMan1937 Sorry - substitute "Laura" for "Stardust" above. ;)
