if i was coaching a non grappler to function from guard,an armbar is the last thing id show them, the only important thing is defend headpunches and primitive chokes and finish or stand up,both are easily achieved in a few months as long as you spar it lots.Another thing is you dont pivot off the guys hip when doing a leg underhook armbar,it just slows it down and its speed is its strength.
pretty good stuf, funny though, I have known quite a few bjj fighters get into fights in the street and end up getting chunks taken out of their bodies by doing these types of moves, then come to learn Kenpo. Its all good.
Hey, I'd have a "chunk" taken out of my body anytime if it meant I was able to defend myself and my family. Besides, in a fight, you're going to have to accept the eventuality of getting hurt.
amen to that, kenpo/jiu jitsu intertwine excellent with each other and is quite necessary to incorporate to be well prepared for all phases of fighting.
@ptrodrigu if the kenpo doesnt do full contact sparring with close to mma rules it isnt effective in any range never mind the ground.Any kenpo ive seen in 25 yrs of martaial arts has been a bunch of shite to say the least, adding some grappling doesnt make it much better.
Juan, this is your mother, nice job! Funnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnny...smile. I love your videos and all the hard work you and Cliff on doing with the techniques and nice quality of your video.
You and Juan keep putting out good stuff! Keep up the good work! I liked a couple of the things you did and I will try working them into my jiu jitsu sessions and see what happens!
i was told that in kenpo you can use your kenpo techs on the ground. since on the ground you are fighting on a horizontail plane. stand up is a verital plane.
do you have any kenpo counters for escaping the high mount with punches.
love the approach to filming martial arts. what will you guys NOT film? lol iv always learned not to cross the legs in an armbar.. but if you have his leg, im not sure if that rule would apply.
Looks good. I am going to try this in ne-waza randori tomorrow.

Good armbar, I'll have to see if my trainer knows this one.
One question, wouldn't it be better to grab his wrist with your left arm?
