I have never met swedish speaking person in Finland but nonetheless we have to learn their creepy language (or accent) in the schools and that's why many Finnish people hates them (NOT RIGSVENSKARNA!). I think even Russian is more important language because there are many russians in Finland. And Russian is also important language on the whole world.
Most of the Swedish-speaking Finlanders come from northwestern Finland, like Österbotten. If you live in southern Finland, few people speak Swedish there.
@Haihdutin If you've never met a swedish speaking person in Finland, you haven't traveled in your country.. If you goes to for example Vaasa, you don't get any job if you cant speak swedish. And read your history, a lot of the finnish important culture persons are swedish speaking! The swedish speaking finns doesn't have any other country than Finland, we've always been here, but the russians come from Russia..
@Quzinqa1122 Did you know that there is more Finnish ppl in Sweden than Swedish ppl in Finland? And most of the English speaking Canadians don't learn French altought there is under 10 million French speakers. So why in hell we have to learn your language? Even Russian is more "Finnish" than Swedish because there is more Russians outside of the Åland Islands. And Ålandians aren't learning our language too.
My point is the history of our two countries. As you know, Sweden and Finland used to be the same country from the Middle-ages until 1809.
When the country was torn in two, there was such a trauma, that I think we still suffer from it. Just like an amputation. Sweden love you and miss you very much!
But of course I know that the Finnish are the largest immigrant group in Sweden.
Men snälla du! Det är en dialekt, som jag nästan aldrig har hört talas annat än på TV, och det är svårare att förstå ett språk när det sjungs än när det talas.
Finland belonged to Sweden from the middle ages to 1809, when Russia took it from us. And because of that, there's a Swedish-speaking minority in Finland. But there aren't so many Finland Swedes left today, except in the north west, as many have moved to Sweden, and if a Finnish-speaker and a Swedish-speaker have a child, the child usually prefers to speak Finnish.

I agree totally with you. Some people should start learning their own history!!!
(I live in Sweden, but my family comes from the Swedish-speaking part of Finland, so I totally understand what you are talking about!)

Finland is a bilingual country. You shouldn't hate your own countrymen!!!!
The Swedish speaking minority is just as Finnish as you. They just speak another language.

You think so? I'm Swedish, and I can hardly understand a word. I guess it's Finnish Swedish though, and that's different from Swedish Swedish.
