For some odd reason, the film version (track 16) of this on the La La Land CD sounds terrible, murky, muddy and a generally very bad mix. The audio on this YouTube video is ten, maybe twenty times far clearer and higher in fidelity. THAT I don't get. My understanding is that the "film version" is a mix of the album version (track 11) and the deeply touching synthesizer arrangement Jones did to "sweeten" the album version (track 18). I don't understand why the film version sounds so BAD on the CD

A lot of purists complained when this was on the soundtrack, saying it was honoring the resolution of the film and immoral actions of the lead characters.

I say they are wrong.

Many of the same people hated Jones score for being progressive rock-like at times. Apparently some people would be happy if every score were imitation John Williams canned orchestrations.

One of my all time favorite movies ever! I think one of the things that really struck me was it appears it was filmed on location in some really brutal conditions. I am from waaaaay upstate NY and I can usually tell fake c-c-c-cold from real C-C-C-COLD!

One of my all time favorite movies and ending scenes especially with this hauntingly beautiful music. I thought this was one of Jon Voight's and Eric Robert's finest performances. Rebecca De Mornay was well cast in a non-glamorous role.
