@bigfootskitty, NOTHING is great about some of today's music! When did I say that??? I didn't say I liked or listened to it. All I say is WHY does everyone keep complaining about something they have no control over?? And it's NOT the only thing out there. There is still a variety of music out there - u don't HAVE to listen to Beiber (can't sing!!) or any of the others! I will ALWAYS love the R&B oldies, ALWAYS!
Every time I come on to listen to one of these old R&B songs, someone has to ask, "Why can't they make music like this anymore"? Because times have changed and it is another generation!! sheesh! The artists today wouldn't be filthy rich if so many people didn't like their music!! Why can't you just enjoy the songs and be thankful these artists left such a wonderful legacy for us all?
@Diciasette11 All the "Artists" today WOULDN'T BE rich if they weren't the ONLY THING OUT THERE RECORDING! Boiled cabbage and beef rouladen farts like Justin Beeber WOULDN'T STAND A CHANCE! as it is, John Cougar and Barry Manilow were FORCED to change their names( from Mellencamp, and Pincus, Respectively), so what's so great about some "Pubeless little boy" with the "Donald Trump" Hair look?
@Diciasette11 You have a point, but what do you think? If someone or something is popular does that mean it has any value? What about the Kardashians? What about Adolf Hitler?
We are still listening to Muddy Waters and the Beatles, and some of us are teenagers. The blues has been around for decades, rock and roll and R&B for a long time too. How long do you think rap "music" will last? If it doesn't make you want to dance, forget it. "It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing."
why cant there be more music like this these days? im 20 yrs old and honestly if i was goin to a club to dance ide rather be dancing to this than this rap crap..how can u not wanna dance to this stuff?!
@TheSpudbucket You are wise beyound your years my friend, words that are well said indeed. I'm a bit up the age scale from you but I share the sentimanet about the modern scene and going out to dance the night away. You cant find music like this unless you actively search for it. And if you dont live in a city that has a vibrant music scene, forget it, you will never find this stuff in most smaller towns and their clubs. Money thing I'd say, but you are bang-on mate, cheers, angus
@TheSpudbucket Don't blame your generation, blame the Music Companies and MTV. Music now is not Art but Product. You need a certain look, personality, etc, and the music is 2nd.
It costs more to create original music like James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, etc.
I just hope your generation looks into Soul, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Classical & NOT formulated music. Watch on YT

Saw him at the Apollo doing this and so many of his great hits, when I was a kid. The place was jumping...and so was my mama! lol Like being in heaven without dying! Whew!
Oh, how I wanted that 1965 Ford Mustang two years out of high school, but gee I never got it. Too late for this senior to get a Mustang Sally? (ha ha) No one does it like the Wicked Wilson Pickett. I remember dancing to that song at nite clubs in D.C. when they had live bands.
Very first song I learned to play on bass that wasn't just E riding with one note. Perhaps not the most difficult, but so perfect for the song. Fits like a perfect glove. Love it!
I'm old now....but still dance around the room to Wilson and a few others here....Bless em all....songs you could sing and dance to...and could do it in front of the little kids...can't say that of a lot of stuff now...
I live about 50 miles from Prattville, AL where Pickett was born in 1941. He was 5' 9" tall and talented beyond anything. Love that voice and this song and every song he ever sang. RIP Mr. Pickett. d. 2006 heart attack

@mizzday100 I knew your Uncle, Crusher Green! I frequently played guitar and he was the drummer. (with Danny Draher, guitar). Crusher also played with Eddie Floyd. I miss Crusher very much.
