he broke the bryan cranston streak! just got into fnl and i have to say: well deserved!! love it and love him. although jon hamm should win as well especially after his performance in the suitcase. idk why he has an ausi sounding accent when he's from georgia?
It was Jon Hamm's Emmy, but I'm glad Kyle finally won this. Next year: Cranston. I doubt that even Hamm can top Bryan's performance in the 4th season of BB.
Every one of these guys gave (or have given in the past for those characters) emmy worthy performances. I feel bad for Hall and Laurie who will almost certainly never win for the Dexter and House, whom they've portrayed so masterfully over the years (I think Hamm still has a chance- but if he didn't win for "The Suitcase" and with Cranston back in the mix it's looking pretty slim). I can't fault the emmy voters for honouring Chandler though, he was excellent on FNL for five years.
WHAAAAAT?!?!?! why does he sound like he has an australian accent when he was born in buffalo ny, and raised in georgia?!?! i'm so confused... :/ also, why was he more happy to see that black charlie's angel than minka kelly lol... jon hamm is cursed!
@serg303 Because Breaking Bad did not air new episodes in the eligibility period, which was from June 1, 2010 to May 31, 2011. Season 4 started in July, so he'll be eligible next year.
Everyone nominated was probably on the edge of their seats hoping they win cause they know this was their only chance with bryan cranston ineligible this time
@MacGovernor Once again, WATCH Chandler before you blast him. If you don't like him after watching FNL, fine. But to blast Chandler without even seeing his show is stupid and lowers your credibility. As someone who is a fan of both and has watched both, I can tell you Chandler had a stronger season than Hall. Hall was good, but this wasn't his best year, and Stiles stole the season. Chandler remained excellent, and turned in some of his best work in the series. He earned this fair and square.
@MacGovernor Watch Friday Night Lights before blasting Chandler. He is an extremely deserving winner. Of course, Hall would be deserving as well, as would Olyphant, but only one could win. Be thankful that Buscemi or Laurie didn't win. Now THAT would have been a crime.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Michael C. Hall four consecutive nominations and zero wins. That's nothing but pure hate from the Emmy Academy or what the hell organization gives the awards anyway. I think Dexter's got some work to do with those assholes giving the win to Mr. Chandler...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This is why Emmy Awards suck even more than the Oscars. No award for Michael C. Hall, but to Kyle "Neverheard" Chandler. We have heard absolutely nothing about him here in Europe. Good thing there's the Golden Globes, otherwise Hall would get absolutely no recognizion.
@MacGovernor Haha, what? Hall has gotten praise from critics since Six Feet Under (which he gave a much better performance in.) He has given the same damn performance in Dexter for the past couple of seasons, and yeah, he's great. I love the guy, but he doesn't deserve the award. Chandler has given consistent quality work for the past five seasons. It's well deserved. Besides, none of these guys would have had a chance to win if Cranston had been nominated.
@MacGovernor Seriously? Michael has gotten tons of recognition, and the only reason you haven't heard of Kyle is because HE hasn't gotten enough recognition. This is the only worthy award other than Jason Katims award that was actually right.
@MacGovernor u are stupid and ignorant if u havent heard of chandler in europe. i am from europe and i have known him for years. he deserved it. and so what if nobody wouldnt know him. award should go to the best not the most popular.
@MacGovernor actually he was WAY, WAY better. I'm a fan of both shows but Dexter was nothing short of weak this last season. Friday Night Lights remained consistently fantastic and Kyle Chandler's acting is always flawless.
@IIXxAeroWxXII Agreed If Breaking Bad didn't start late Bryan Cranston would of won because the episode last night he was amazing and nothing less, next year the Nominees are going to be Bryan Cranston, Bryan Cranston, Bryan Cranston, Bryan Cranston, and Bryan Cranston. No Contest.
@IIXxAeroWxXII I'm pretty sure he counts himself lucky that he was cast on FNL. I doubt he cares whether or not Cranston was nominated. As Coach Taylor said, "Be a man about it."
@Mattgoot I get that they didn't know Minka was on FNL, all the more reason to make sure you're well informed before you call someone annoying... or a douche. so fawk you
Much deserved. It is a long over due win! Friday Night Lights is no doubt the best tv show of the past, present and future, no show will be able to match it. The characters and their stories were all so moving, passionate, and realistic, I got really attached. It is my all time favorite show! At the end of this video when Gwennith Paltrow walks out it pans out to Britton(robbed of emmy) whispering 'Oh my' to Chandler. so damn funny.
I love FNL and Kyle Chandler was amazing, but you know . . . when you're nominated for an Emmy, take a moment to plan a speech. There's a 1 in 5 chance you'll win. You're an actor; that's what you do: you read scripts. You've got this lonce-in-a-lifetime moment to recognize the people and places that got you there. Getting caught off guard is not charming, it's stupid.
Does anyone know what he said to Connie right as the voice over came on? They showed her clapping then Kyle went back to the mic and said something...ANYONE?!
@weezybabybaby1 He had completely forgotten to thank his real wife and his TV wife, so he tried to go back to the microphone to thank them and his mic had already been turned off.
This was a much deserved win for Kyle. I wish along the way, that a few of the others could've won as well (especially Connie), but at least Kyle finally got the win, and the cherry on top was Minka being able to give him the award.
FNL was a fantastic show with a fantastic cast. Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose!!!!
I LOVE that he won this. And he won it against some really big actors, I've loved Kyle Chandler since before I knew his name(in Early Edition, when I was 7-8) so I'm really glad he's getting recognition. He is really underrated. I'm just... really really happy he won this. And people complaining that Jon Hamm didn't win need to chill, hasn't he won before? I'm fairly sure Michael C Hall has won it before, or some lead actor award at least...
@Meimi132 The Emmys are the most prestigious award, they are the Oscars of TV. Golden Globes are for TV and movies and are voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press.... Emmys and Oscars are voted on by the respected film/tv academies.

@Meimi132 Depends on who you ask. I think most people consider the Emmy more prestigous because it's voted on by TV industry people whereas the Golden Globes are voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press, a group of foreign journalists based in Hollywood.
@klausweasley Oh awesome!!! Now I'm even happier for him!! I had no clue who voted for what lol, I just know the ones the public can vote for usually :3
@Meimi132 Hollywood loves to congratulate themselves, and take every opportunity to do so...so it really doesn't matter. I'm just glad that Kyle has finally been recognized for his good work and talent as an actor.
I haven't owned a TV in over four years and barely watch TV at all anymore, but I went to my old college campus and crashed their TV set just to watch him win!:-)
It's about time!! Kyle (and for that fact, the entire cast) is amazing, and I don't think I know 1 person who has watched FNL and didn't wish they had someone like Coach Taylor in their lives. We were blessed to have FNL for 5 years, and it will always remain one of the best shows to ever grace our televisions. Congratulations Kyle!!

yodafan89 3 months ago
Why was Bryan Cranston not eligible?
serg303 3 months ago
Everyone nominated was probably on the edge of their seats hoping they win cause they know this was their only chance with bryan cranston ineligible this time
mahoo1992 3 months ago 5
@mahoo1992 Yeah, the Emmys tend to choose the same guy over and over, makes their job easier...

He should have thanked Bryan Cranston for not being eligible.

Walter: Where is it? Where's my award?
Skyler: Wha-?
Walter: My Emmy, Skyler, where is it? Skyler? WHERE IS MY EMMY?!
Skyler: [pause] They gave it to Kyle
Walter: What? They did what?
Skyler: Walt, I'm...They had to. You're not eligible. I swear, Walt...
Walter: They gave my Emmy to Chandler?
Skyler: Walt, please, please, just hear me out, please...
Walter: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!

Great for Kyle. Pathetic moment for the Angels, who will never win Outstanding anything and will never appear at the Emmys again.

Michael C. Hall four consecutive nominations and zero wins. That's nothing but pure hate from the Emmy Academy or what the hell organization gives the awards anyway. I think Dexter's got some work to do with those assholes giving the win to Mr. Chandler...

MacGovernor 4 months ago
@MacGovernor Haha, what? Hall has gotten praise from critics since Six Feet Under (which he gave a much better performance in.) He has given the same damn performance in Dexter for the past couple of seasons, and yeah, he's great. I love the guy, but he doesn't deserve the award. Chandler has given consistent quality work for the past five seasons. It's well deserved. Besides, none of these guys would have had a chance to win if Cranston had been nominated.
HarryCaul89 4 months ago
@MacGovernor Seriously? Michael has gotten tons of recognition, and the only reason you haven't heard of Kyle is because HE hasn't gotten enough recognition. This is the only worthy award other than Jason Katims award that was actually right.
awkbergs 4 months ago
@MacGovernor u are stupid and ignorant if u havent heard of chandler in europe. i am from europe and i have known him for years. he deserved it. and so what if nobody wouldnt know him. award should go to the best not the most popular.
hullmees666 4 months ago
@hullmees666 This Chandler guy cannot be better than Michael C. Hall in Dexter. Never.
MacGovernor 4 months ago
@MacGovernor actually he was WAY, WAY better. I'm a fan of both shows but Dexter was nothing short of weak this last season. Friday Night Lights remained consistently fantastic and Kyle Chandler's acting is always flawless.

IIXxAeroWxXII 5 months ago
@IIXxAeroWxXII Agreed If Breaking Bad didn't start late Bryan Cranston would of won because the episode last night he was amazing and nothing less, next year the Nominees are going to be Bryan Cranston, Bryan Cranston, Bryan Cranston, Bryan Cranston, and Bryan Cranston. No Contest.
AirDJ91 5 months ago
@IIXxAeroWxXII I'm pretty sure he counts himself lucky that he was cast on FNL. I doubt he cares whether or not Cranston was nominated. As Coach Taylor said, "Be a man about it."

Meimi132 5 months ago 2
@Meimi132 Jon and Michael have won Golden Globes. Never Emmys.
klausweasley 5 months ago
@klausweasley Golden Globes are better though right? Or more prestigious or something?
Meimi132 5 months ago
@Meimi132 The Emmys are the most prestigious award, they are the Oscars of TV. Golden Globes are for TV and movies and are voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press.... Emmys and Oscars are voted on by the respected film/tv academies.

@Meimi132 Depends on who you ask. I think most people consider the Emmy more prestigous because it's voted on by TV industry people whereas the Golden Globes are voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press, a group of foreign journalists based in Hollywood.
