  • Everyone has their own opinion which of course is fine. What I hate is the disrespectfulness on either end when making the comments. I love this version, and it is completely different than the Beatles. There is no argument that Karen Carpenter's voice is just purely the best. John Lennon and Paul Mcartney had nothing but praise for this version. Its just different! John Lennon also liked Anne Murray's version of "You Won't See Me". Anyway, Karen.. you are so sorely missed.

  • PLEASE READ MY COMMENTS BELOW

    can you work them out?

  • @figbat1 I can work them out. My conclusion is that you are batshit crazy.

  • i came up with a theory that involves the book of genesis (fig leaves) buddha (sitting under the bohid fig tree) jesus (many sayings about figs) ross horne's book (new health revolution) and science (figs are the most important source of food for fruit eating rainforest animals). i then experimented on the figs by eating mainly dried figs (same brand) for over 6 years now and found cycles which i related to the numbers in psgs 11/12 of the book of revelations. this theory has gone everywhere.

  • so far i have had eliminations at days 504, 840, 1176, 1512, 1848, 2184, and expect my 7th at day 2520. today is day 2494. i have definitely found something. i am not lying. what i have discovered has gone around the world and many songs have been written about it.....the foo fighters last 3 albums...."vertigo" by U2 (my first name is phil)....coldplays' last 3 albums. an elimination is a day when you experience strong flu-like symptoms and feel terrible. bad stuff is washed out of your body.

  • Karen had the sweetest, most lovely voice i've ever heard. why do we never hear her on the radio anymore?

  • Tears in my eyes for such a loss.

  • Her brother was evil!

  • @Tresfres Actually not, Read Little Girl Blue: The Life Of Karen Carpenter, then you'll find out that Richard is not evil at all. The movie Karen Carpenter Story, 95% of bullshit and 5% of truth, very few people knew the truth back then

  • Karen looks stunning in this clip..what a loss to the world

  • Amazing voice! this lady was gifted by God! RIP!

  • Karen Carpenter is an ICON

  • karen's voice was so pure and sweet that it could put someone's soul at peace. she had the kind of voice that was so soothing. too bad that she is no longer with us.

  • gosh i dinnet know they did this song? i must say i prefer the Beatles, but Karen has such a brill beautiful voice that no one can deny her that!! and @extascy: i agree, she does make it look so easy!

  • Karen"s voice can make any song sound great

  • i never think that a beatles song could be so melancholic D:

  • Amazing arrangement of a Beatles song. How's that for original. Lord, what a voice and fantastic arrangement. Thanks to Burt for signing them. He sure was a winner.

  • Karen's voice needs to be in the Hall of Fame!

  • Wow! Why have I never heard this?

  • @Adequates63 Because it's sappy sweet, which is politically incorrect/not macho. I was (formerly) a closet Carpenter fan at the age of 9, when "Close to You" came out, as I fell in love with that soothing, comforting voice, which was very against the heavy/acid rock of the time. Now I'm old, bold, and out of the closet on The Carpenters, as their music is enduring.

  • @greenwich1754 I used to tell my rocker friends that the Capenter's albums in my record collection were my sister's that got mixed up with mine. But now I am proud to say they were mine and were always mine!

I know some Beatles fans don't like this version of this song but I think it is beautiful. Karen had the voice of an angel and Richard is an arranging genious!

  • @kentaappel Yes - I remember Richard saying he would never try to "exact copy" an original, as (a) he either couldn't, or ( b) was respectful of the original. Besides, Richard is keyboards, and Beatles were guitars (on this song). I like to use the analogy of when Shemp replaced Curly - ok, not as good as the original, but Shemp had his own style & delivery, and I grew to like him. BTW, that's funny attributing the Carpenter records to your sister!

  • Beste cover ooit van het originele beatles nummer. sublieme vertolking en schitterende orkeststratie. opzichrzld al een evergreen.

  • beautiful song, painful memories

  • Karen's voice is EPIC.

  • love this song when I was in high school and it still haunts me....so sad..

  • Somebody should have given her a ticket to ride to Hometown Buffet. Hey-O! Let the hate mail begin! XD

  • This song haunts me. I love Karen. The world was a better place having her in it.

  • I love the carpenters, but this should never have been made. Ticket to Ride was an edgy song and this just....isn't. No offense.

  • @PeterMarloweHDF Couldn't disagree more. Carpenters put their own magic wand on this song and made it beautiful.

  • @PeterMarloweHDF I disagree, you can feel the longing of the lyrics in this one but both are great. After all, a great song is a great song!

  • BEST VERSION EVER

  • That final close up of Karen's face OMG. I just wanted to dive into the screen and kiss her. LOL She was so fine and sexy earlier in her career!

  • Love the carpenthers, Ticket to Ride is one of favorite songs👍👍

  • The song is very sad. This is much like Karen's life.

I wish she had the happiness that I have.

  • we all know richard was a genius

  • vaya...

  • The crazy thing about her voice is that she makes it look so easy. That sound that comes out is so soothing to the ears. Those inflections are simply amazing.

  • Simply the best voice ever. Her voice sounds so angelic. Karen your music is living on and enjoyed by millions of people. Thank you!

  • so beautiful in so many ways.....I love you Karen!!!!!

  • is ashame the Beatles had less equipment to work with

  • KEM INTENDEU OQ O CHINES ESCREVEU LÁ EMBAIXO?

  • *chills running down my spine*

  • How beautiful theme, give me good memories!!

  • 1:05 I swear i think I just saw the Beatles skiing down that hill

  • aften seeing all other videos with karen, where she is very thin, it is hard to se that this is her, but she looks so much more healthy here.

  • 英語の歌に出てきてそれではまりました^^

    この曲だぃすき^^

  • Meu Deus... amo amo amo....

  • I hate it when they change the pronouns.

  • This is one of Karen's best vocal performances in 1973 with this re-recorded version of the 1969 track. I don't think I've ever heard anyone sing so flawlessly.

  • @steveatl40 I agree with you 100% steve. Flawless to the utmost extreme. Perfection.

  • fj aime j aime j aime j aime

  • To Randy Schmidt (Author of Little Girl Blue) Karma's a bitch!

  • I like it

  • @cbbstax no offense nor harm meant, but goodness sakes! why are both of you get on each others cases over someone simply stating their own opinion?dont we all have the right to state it?or is it so terrible to take advantage of your freedom to state what you feel, and believe?again,no harm nor nor offense meant,i just dont understand why it has to be like this

  • they sang perfect songs..:)

  • I'm not much of a Carpenters fan. Now I know why. They sang awful songs. This, I like. They did music well, but "They chose badly," to paraphrase a fictional crusader.

  • Carpenters vs Beatles - good thing it wasn't Carpenter beetles, or we'd all be screwed!

  • @greenwich1754 Right ! XD

  • @greenwich1754 What a witty thing to say! ha I like this comment.

    Carpenter Beetles!

  • @cbbstax Exactly, just like yours. Considering I'm a musician and music major it might be important to some though.

  • @cbbstax Of course it mattered to me, it is my opinion. what I'm saying is my opinion shouldn't matter to anyone but me. It shouldn't influence your opinion, that's what makes opinions great.

  • @cbbstax True, it's just my opinion. It doesn't really matter feel free to feel anyway you want about it.

  • geo837ma I appreciate your comment, but if you re-read my comment no where do I say that Lennon loved it so you(or anyone) should be ashamed of your opinion. That being said, it's also ok if I take exception to the comment made that the Carpenter's version of Ticket to Ride is crap, because "in my opinion" it isn't. It's all good. No worries and nothing to stress over. We're just all offering personal opinions.

  • une chanson qui a bercé ma jeunesse....mieux que les Beatles ! j'aime cette voix d'exception .....Karen ..et son frère est ce qu'on a fait de mieux dans le sens de l'harmonie ....i like ....for ever .

  • I like my beer and liq. But if i somehow, unmaginal to understand why, would end up in hell and i have to drink every day, i would know its hell. Every habit becomes your enemy when doing it every day. But if i went to hell and had to listen to Karens voice every day, ill still think this is heaven.

Wow.i didnt think that one through,so if theres something wrong just blame me and no one else

  • Always so perfect on vocal. Karen :)

  • Her singing it is great, but the style she sings it in just doesn't do it for me.

  • Karen : I wanna go to heaven to see you for eternity .

  • According to what I hear & see for that matter any Loyalty that Doug Strawn had for Richard Carpenter is out the window, especially being that he has Little Girl Blue on his Facebook page. Being part of The Carpenters is FOREVER. Doug should write a real Carpenters book, not a pamphlet like Mr. Schmidt did. Strawn has alot of fans, myself being his biggest, but Little Girl Blue Doug, c'mon. You & me both know what Karen would think of that book!

  • i gotta play the lead in

  • follow me

  • This is talent...this lady got it

  • I prefer the Beatles version, but this one is more musical. I love the piano at the beginning! Karen had an outstanding voice, but many don't realize Richard was (is) as great a musician as she was!

  • Amo os carpenters, desde aprimeira vez que vi e ouvi, me apaixonei. Quando assisti ao filme, me comovi com a estória desses irmãos estremamente talentosos. Não tem como não gostar, né? Fala sério!!!

  • Even though I still like the Beatles version better, Karen Carpenter has a beautiful voice and did this song justice. I like this version, too.

    Respect for both artists.

  • her voice is so beautiful what a talent :(

  • A voice that could melt butter

  • @TheMarilyn6126

    ...and ice cubes :))

  • g8 cover version

  • fuck this shit beatles are better fuck the carpenters

  • @TheBandofGamers They are not trying to be better. Its jus a cover. Its called paying tribute, my friend.

  • @TheBandofGamers you're an idiot. shame there are people like you when angels like Karen Carpenter are dead.

  • @TheBandofGamers Beatles are great don't get me wrong but you are way out of F------------------- line. Carpenters did a better job .

  • @lukejake7771 But the Carpenters couldn't have done a good job on this if the Beatles didn't write the song and it ddn't exist. By the way, I love both versions

  • @kentaappel You are right but did you see what he said. I should just blow it off.

  • @TheBandofGamers you have a dirty mind to use such dirty words. definitely the result of a molested child!!!!

  • Wow! I never thought this song could sound so good slowly...love Beatles love Carpenters...

  • Richard is squinting through the whole thing to keep from going snowblind! LOL

  • I love both versions of this song for different reasons. The Beatles version conveys the immediacy of the event of a lover who is leaving to a far away place. This one captures that mood of acceptance of the hopelessness of the situation

  • Hermosos hermanos.

  • We live in a world where the media just adds fuel to an already burning fire.Randy Schmidt is no different!!! How much substance can there be to an Author who purposely only puts part of Richard Carpenters head on a cover of a book that he has written, and then he states, when you get done reading the book, people will understand. Little Girl Blue is a mere Pamphlet compared to all the Facts that he couldn't get, some things "MUST" stay private Randy, because we know you would print it! GB KC

  • @vmuto1 You really do not get it do you!? Karen's personal voice has been silenced due to her death and she was even silenced when she was alive! While Richard and his family loved Karen they ALWAYS made Richard the star! Within the Carpenter home everything was about Richard and Karen was merely used as a method to make Richard a star! I am so thankful that Randy wrote this book. Karen was finally able to be heard even if it was from the grave. Randy used the comments of friends

  • @vmuto1 who were never allowed to speak of Karen's true self before and Richard was given the opportunity to speak with the author and he declined. AND...Tom Burris has a a gag order on him so he is not allowed to speak of Karen. Personally? I don't think Richard should have been on the book cover at all! You want to know what kind of person Richard was or is? read the part about his reaction to her solo album. The man is a selfish tool!

  • 5**********

  • The Carpenters made a beautiful recording with this song. John Lennon once said that Karen had the most beautiful female voice he'd ever heard, and it didn't bother him one bit that they sang this song. So for those of you who feel this song is "crap" even Lennon would have disagreed with you.

  • @emsmedic2002 don't care who disagrees with me, this song sucks any way you cut it

  • @SunglassesAtNite1 then why have you searched for it?

  • @emsmedic2002 Kudos to the Beatles for writing this song. Lovely lyrics, this is a lovely redition. The mood and the type of music is more suited to the sad lyrics envisaged by the Beatles and performed beautifully by Karen Capenter.

  • @emsmedic2002 Source?

  • @emsmedic2002 just because Lennon liked it and would disagree with those people doesn't mean that it should change their opinion even slightly, people have different opinions and it's no problem that some people don't like this. I myself like this version, i just think the whole idea of "Lennon loves it so you should be ashamed of your opinion" is ridiculous.

  • he don't care cause you ripped off the beatles you slag

  • @omgirule07 this is so mean! yet so funny!! lol i laughed so much at this! :D

  • @omgirule07 she obviously wasn't a slag.

  • Carpenters - Ticket To Ride essa canção é linda gilson marques

  • :D!

  • I would like to put this one out there & roll the Dice for the world to read & see what they think of this idea. I would Love more than anything in the world for Richard Carpenter to get the Carpenter band together (including Herb, & Burt who were a Big part) & do a tribute show for Karen &Tony. Why not one more time, for the good old times. Everyones getting older each & every year, I really believe in my heart that this would be special & Karen could be included on a Big Screen with Pictures

  • The Beatles have a better version then this crap!!

  • @Sunshine19970

It's juts a different intereptration. Both version are well done.

  • wow her voice that amazing hair and those teeth and looks she was so perfect

  • wow her voice is perfect for this song, really lets you appreciate how good the melody is, holds up good in a different serious melancholy style

  • your absolutely right condorable well put

  • Such a great version of this song! Over-dub heaven! And I suspect this video filmed on a snow-covered mountain pays homage to the scene in the Beatles film "Help!" where the fab four perform this song frolicking in the snow in the Alps. Fantastic!

  • Real pretty version and great vocals, but I hate when people change the pronouns of a song.

  • @szumwalt I completely agree, changing just the genders in the lyrics sounds so dumb.

  • @tiagoaoa So they should have kept it/made it Lesbian? I suppose they could have supplanted he/she with "it", but then cousin It would have been offended.

  • I am surprised that my 27 year old fiance who loves rock from every decade actually likes the Carpenters' version of this song more than the Beatles'. She thinks they sing it too upbeat for a sad song. I never really thought about it, but she's right.

  • @ilivelovenlaugh He can't. He'd be in jail if he did.

  • I miss Karen so much. I think I'm gonna be sad.

  • i miss karen :(

  • Somehow this song popped into my head today.Had she lived,Karen would be 61,my age.

  • wow they take a perfectly good song and make it all slow YUCK! 0:47 or he's got ride what happened to she

  • wow they take a perfectly good song and make it all slow YUCK!

  • Karen was hot during her younger years

  • her version is more mellow and lovely :)

  • ew ew and wait whats that word? EW

  • this is a great cover! of course the beatles version is different.... this version shows off the beauty of Karen's singing...

  • they sang too many covers.......it finally caught up with them esp with "Mr.Postman" disgrace.

  • My favourite Beatles song has been ruined. I will never listen to that disgrace again. Ever!

  • i am all for covers and slowing songs down but slowing this song down is just butchering it. It needs momentum

  • I miss KC :-(

  • eh... it's a bit too slow for me but she does have a fabulous voice

  • que coisa pra não dizer uma merda;

te espero nem que seja no inferno

  • Karen's voice is one of the most beautiful female voices ever. She may not be with us, but she will sing in our hearts forever.
