to a significant degree..many of their peer bands weren't this loud or hard, and in a lot of ways they were at the front of the thrash scene that started developing.
They're a band that I truly regret not seeing in the day, there again I don't know if they actually made it to the East Coast that much, like many of their peer bands like The Crue and Ratt and many others.
It's not like he left really early or anything. The saints rule, but for some reason they just never really took off. I think they'd be in the same place they are now whether or not JB wasted time in anthrax.
One of my favorite bands from the 80's. Dave Pritchard is the king! His death was a tremendous loss to metal guitarists everywhere...whether or not they realize it. Awesome video.
I believe this video was filmed for Mtv at a holloween show at first ave. in Minneapolis. Grim Reaper opened, Armored Saint went on second and Helloween was the headline.
I TRULY regret not getting to see these guys back in the day! There again, the East Coast scene catered more or less to the BIG names, and it made it hard lesser known (but well established) bands to go to the big arenas. Armored Saint rocked!
This is from "A Trip Thru Red Times." There's some good stuff on this DVD-"Human Vulture", "Isolation" and "Can U Deliver" for starters. The DVD is a tribute to guitarist Dave Earle Pritchard, much in the same way that Cliff Em' All is a tribute to Cliff Burton.
Makes me remember late Saturday nights in 1988 when what was a small time radio station would go metal from 11 PM til 1 AM....I so remember hearing this and singing along to the lyrics. GREAT times and memories!
I could be wrong, but I think I was just transported back in time. I think this is from or is the same footage used in a Halloween Headbanger's Ball special back in the 80's that featured Armored Saint, Grim Reaper, and Helloween. All bands that I listened to in the mid 80s and had people looking at me like I was off my rocker. Great stuff and great memories.
Just pick up their dvd "a trip thru red times" this is one is from it, and it has human vulture as well. With the same great audio-quality. Mayday, payday....

an anti crack tune, dude realizes hes gone too far ,! RIP DAVE, u are missed
rainmanjones1969 1 year ago
@rainmanjones1969 I think it was more anti powder cocaine. Crack cocaine wasn't that popular among metal musicians.

Does John's mic go out during the solo so he has to use Dave's back up mic?

Awesome song. The timing on guitar sounds a bit loose. That's strange because it's not particularly demanding. Maybe he was wasted.
