I've beaten the game 3 times;

A Direct Sequel does not imply that it is the same character, it just implies that it follows the events of that game.

And also, Jack's story can be continued, the only thing they show about Jack in the ending is him on his deathbed as an old man, so it is possible that he could have been in Rapture a second time.

@FFNProductions :( You have a point there, but the ending triggers after a specific point, bad or good, and i think the reason they couldnt make a direct sequel is because Rapture has gone to hell...well even more by the end, and there is nothing left of it. That's why they went towards making a prequel

Although, I don't think we should consider "Infinite" a Prequel, because it fucks up everything in timeline/history that we learned in BS1 & 2.

In it's own way yes. Rivet guns and the like seem to be part of the steampunk genre. Kinda a science fiction/ Steampunk game. A lot of 1950s style design runs deep into the game. But at the same time future elements like the AI in this DLC give it a science fiction flare.

Here is a quote from the wiki page: "Though the game takes place before the events of the previous two BioShock games (occurring from the 1950s to 1960s), Irrational Games has not confirmed if BioShock Infinite shares the same universe with these titles; Ken Levine left the question of the possibility unanswered in an interview stemming from the game's announcement." So its anybody's guess at this point
