one of the things worse than death at the hands of your enemies is to be used as a tool for the multiplication of your enemies. nature is amazing!!!!!!!!
although it is confirmed to be Tarantula hawk wasp of some species, the victim that its dragging is not a Tarantula. Matter of fact, the victim is actually a large wolf spider.
boy, I'd be afraid to get that close...but it looks like the wasp is too preoccupied to sting. I hear those wasps have a sting which is beyond imagining.
As long as you don't disturb the wasp there's no problem. There are plenty of similar spider wasps around my house and garden and they are so busy they have no time to sting you.
A camper in sleeping bag would be luckier to realize a tarantula is in bag also rather than the wasp. One of these buzzed past my head near the Rio Grande Gorge bridge west of Taos, New Mexico. It did sound like a helicopter.
Is it only me noticing that tarantula is carrying an egg? It appears to be an egg, saw a vid of Huntsman spiders and their females get eggs like that, sort of like a disc underneath the body.
So the Tarantula Hawk places its eggs inside the Tarantula, but what when the Tarantula's kids hatch? :P
@emperor667 Wait you guys don't have big predatorial bugs in Europe? Really? Damn. At least we're not as bad as Australia and New Zealand. Those bugs there are the stuff of nightmares. Bird-eating Spiders, Weta's (crickets the size of a rat) ants that jump and bite like a wasp.

@RicoLen1 Nope, nothing 'badass' in Europe Except the Wood Wasp which doesnt attack (nor can it) but has one hell of a thing that looks like a stinger which is for drilling wood and over all its about the size of your finger.
this is real check for yourselves its a tarantula hawk wasp and they hunt tarantulas and out of all insects it has the second most painful sting first being the bullet ant which is as painful as being shot hence the name.
what does the wasp do after it drags thetarantula. do they lay eggs in them, eat them, or just use the as ornaments in their nest, or even use them as a trophy to show off to the oither wasps?
This was taken during a bike ride at Matthew Winters in Colorado. It is not fake. Search for Tarantula Hawk here. I first thought that the tarantula was pulling the Wasp but realized it was the other way around. It took me a bit of reasearch to learn the truth. Mother nature is amazing!
@thelegend8888 The wasp lays it's eggs inside the tarantula then when the tarantula wakes up from being paralysed it will carry on living, then when the wasps inside are big enough, they eat their way out. yum. :P

@hgfits It's paralyzed. The Wasp will lays eggs in it and the tarantula will regain mobility and become a walking incubator until it dies a horrible death from the inside out as the larvae hatch. Or so i'm led to believe...
@nky4dni this species of wasp only goes for a particular species of tarantula, the tarantula lets the wasp actually "observe" the tarantula up close, the wasp may even brush up against it's hairs a couple of time and the tarantula accepts it, until ultimately, the wasp stings the tarantula in a violent outbreak. You're not gonna find a video of this tarantula killing this certain type of wasp
@nky4dni No chance brother, spiders are a lot more delicate than they seem, and this thing boasts a quarter inch sting and the second most painful bite in the world.
@nky4dni You want the tarantula to own HER. That's a female, and she's going to use that tarantula to feed her babies while they grow.
