  • Back when wrestling was real.

  • And 16 Years later this guys still wrestled.......

  • Marty jannetty with an Overkill shirt......no fucking way!!!!!!!!!!

  • 7:59 Sweet Chin Music before the band tuned up!

  • Ironic...

  • The NWA is the birth of all wrestling promotions

  • Comment removed

  • why does flair have the wwf tag team belt and why is it censored???

  • @fearthewrath2000 Its a long story and google it. What ever I will tell you Flair came in WWF with his custom design NWA title claiming to be the real world champion. They made a ceaqse by blaring it out and I think they which it for one of there titles until he was WWF championship in 92.

  • @fearthewrath2000 its the wcw world title and its censored because its the wwf

  • this must have been either very late 91 or very start of 92 if he said the royal rumble is coming up

  • FUCK NWA.

  • now this match happened a week before Shawn superkicked Marty and then tossed his head through the Barber Shop window? am I right?

  • LOL at the NWA title being distorted.

  • @Dynaman21 That's the same belt he wore to the ring at the 1991 Survivor Series, it's one of the WWF Tag Team Titles & not the Big Gold Belt, he stopped using the Big Gold Belt around the time they begain distorting it.

  • I like how Jannetty is wearing an Overkill shirt. XD

  • triple h's best friend vs triple h's icon

  • 5:16 - 5:18 LOL

  • This back when the WWE had the hardest ring around. No give at all.

  • @Holyspiritguide

    hard ring?

  • @PatrickEgwu1 And it was motherfucking 1992, pretty cool stuff.

  • Absoutle gem.

  • Imo since the then wwf title was originally and NWA title it is the "REAL WORLD TITLE" and watching this kinda makes me wonder what if when the rockers split hbk went face and janetty went heel.Wonder how it would have turned out

  • @Brockthepain The belt that Flair had wasn't really the NWA belt, it was a tag belt belive it or not.

  • I take it that's not Lilian Garcia.

  • Well it was a retirement match it was a fair well to one of the greatest wrestlers in WWE history!

  • great match

  • Putting the feet on the ropes even when the guy is completely out - classic heel move.

  • Lord Alfred sees the future.

  • looks like a tag title to me

  • @HellhammerSS No, Ric took the physical NWA world title with him, since at the time the champion put a $2,500 desposit on the belt. Since Ric never got the money back after he was fired, he took the belt with him. The belt WCW had to REPLACE the world title with was a spray-painted tag team belt.

  • @SSVCloud I think it was $25,000.

  • @SSVCloud Flair took the belt with him (he was still recognized as the NWA champion until the moment he signed the contract with the then WWF), you're right. However, it was a $25,000 deposit. When he was repaid the amount plus interest, Flair gave the belt back. This led to the "blurry belt." The "blurry belt" was actually a WWF tag team belt which is why the blur happened.

  • 8:00 of the tape shawn gives flair the superkick but does not pin him. I guess that was not his finishing move yet.

  • Damn Flair was 40 years old here. And this was 19 years ago! Man was Flair dumb with his money or what, he blew all his money on failed marriages, booze, and drugs and he's still wrestling at almost age 60 now. While HBK happily retired on top at a good age of 45 and with Millions and Millions of dollars, a hot wife that he's been married to for 11 years, a huge fancy house, and a lifetime contract with the WWE for videos, merchandise, and special appearances now.

  • @fmthebaron What drugs did Flair use?

  • @MickeyLynott

    All of them.

  • @givebeesachance He certainly doesn't look like a druggie.

  • @fmthebaron Why are you bearing false witness? Where do you get the info that flair did drugs? In fact Flair is known as one of the guys that didn't do drugs or stereoids which is why he can still wrestle at 60+ while a bunch of guys from his era are now dead or can barely move.

  • rip joey marella

  • What year is?

  • @blazebleze95

    It's Late 1991 I believe

  • @dodgesxt Ric Flair was in WCW, then WWF, then back to WCW.

  • Lord Alfred doing as he was instructed to do and push Michaels as a singles wrestler.

  • Actually Ric Flair was in wcw before wwf son.

  • Ric Flair was and is his own man. He also never did movies. He worked most of the major wrestling organizations, sometimes simultaineously.

  • why we cant see the title?

  • it's funny shawn facing the guy who's responsible for him even wanting to wrestle..this could have been huge if shawn was more popular at that time

  • @sfgfj actuallyyy Tully Blanchard was the reason he was inspired to wrestle after watching a street fight match with Tully Blanchard and wahoo mcdaniels. in an interview he said he watched tully before he even knew who flair was

  • wow before he was HBK,the showstopper, the main event, the icon..The Man

  • Funny how they always claimed these two never had a 1-on-1 match until recent years. I remember, in one of the WWF magazines, HBK claiming that the only time they met in the ring was for a couple minutes during one of the Royal Rumble matches. I've seen at least two full matches here on youtube, proving this was false. I'd understand house shows being ignored, but these were televised. Vince really thinks we're stupid.

  • All i have to say is wow

  • wow just think, this match was 45 years ago.

  • @DeathAdder83

HBK is even not 45 years old yet...

  • @cruzzo260 I was being sarcastic everybody, sheesh. however this was about 20 years ago....which was a pretty gosh darn long time ago. We'll miss ya HBK :*(

  • I'm not a fan of HBK the person, but his matches were always very entertaining.

  • If you watch Flair's DVD,he states that he never lost the World heavyweight title in the ring and that when one becomes champion, one must leave a deposit of S25,000 so that wrestlers wouldn't steal the belt. When they gave the belt back, they would get their deposit back.Flair claimed that WcW executives refused to return Flair his deposit,so he kept the belt and appeared with it on WWF.Flair would go on to win the WWF title by defeating 30 men in one night at Royal Rumble 92.Hogan never did that!

  • Yes he did. Twice.

  • Hogan never won the title by winning a Royal Rumble. As a matter of fact, nobody else has accomplished this but Flair. He's also the first wrestler to win titles in WcW,NWA, and WWF.

  • @campKILLer Hulk Hogan won the Royal Rumble twice, that much is true. But the WWF Championship was not on the line in either of them.

  • @81carlos Hogan won the 2 Royal Rumbles before that though and was the last one eliminated by Flair if I'm not mistaken, so almost 3.

  • @disfiguredwreck Sid Justice eliminated Hogan in that Rumble.Take note that although Hogan did win 2 Rumbles, Ric Flair entered at number 2, lasted an hour(a record at the time) and won the WWF World championship all in 1 night, which to me, is more impressive.

  • @disfiguredwreck Hogan was the 2nd to last one. After he was eliminated, he grabbed Sid Justice, allowing Flair to throw him over the Ropes.

  • damn how old iz ric?

  • 59 or 60. I think he and Terry Funk have wrestled regularly the longest.

  • Sweet chin music was just a move in the middle of the match. Nothing special. Kinda cool to see how it was back in thday.

  • man, what would flair and michaels have said if you had told them 17 years later they would meet at WrestleMania in a Retirement Match.

  • @Word4Life I think each one of them would say "woooooooooooooooo!!!"

  • Back when Michaels was still a tag team specialist, a nobody in the singles division

  • I don't know why but I watch this whole match and wasn't bored.

  • Because this is what WWE/WWF was truly about. Title changes were more rare back then. Champions had more prestige then nowadays. Wrestlers had to really prove themselves in order to get title matches. Now the titles change hands every month or so(and please don't tell me there's more competition now, because todays roster sucks).Come on,Santino Marella as IC champ? What a disgrace!Shamus gets to win the title, but Scott Hall who was the 1st 4 time IC champ never gets a chance?Niether did Steamboat!

  • So true.

  • 1991

  • who ever thought this guy would eventually retire this guy?

  • How is Flair retired? He's still embarrassing himself in TNA.

  • has Flair ever not looked old as fuck?

  • 4:00 that was crazy...That was a RICK JAMES slap LOL

  • I'm sorry.. I love you..

  • wow you are one corny loser

  • LMFAO!

  • I remember this....This was right before The Rockers broke up when HBK wanted to break out on his own....

  • amusing how this young and inexperienced Shawn Michaels COMPLETELY OWNS the so-called greatest wrestler of all time.

  • wow! Michaels kicked his ass.

  • WOOOO

  • They were WOOOing after chops even back in the early 90s!

  • they been wooing since the 70's

  • Hey, All the more better!

  • lord alfred hayes was pretty prophetic talking about how HBK could "go to the top"..

  • As true as that is, every up and comer is praised by the commentators like that and every heel up and comer cuts promos saying they're going to be great

The same thing happened to Janetty and a million jobbers

  • It was real back in those days.....real entertaining that is...

now it's fake, the entertainment is fake and boring

  • This match was much better than Flair & HBK's encounter at WM24.

This was in late 1991, back then wrestling was real.

  • It's as real as it is now as it was then... just alot more goofy storylines.

  • Considering Flair was 17 years younger it's not surprising.

  • a match like the one at wm 24

    hbk vs flair

  • Is Marty Jannetty wearing an Over Kill t-shirt?

  • haha that is bad-ass

  • The belt he has is the old NWA championship belt

  • No it's the tag team title. They blurred it out to make it seem like he was still wearing the NWA/WCW world title.

  • I think this was when they had him wearing the Tag Strap, lol.

  • Yes it doesnt look like "the big gold belt", I wonder if the audience in attendence were looking on perplexed thinking "Why the hell is Ric Flair holding aloft the WWF Tag Title belt?"

*By the way, I dont know why some idiots have given your comment a thumbs down rating, I guess they just dont know their wrestling history enough to understand your reference!*

  • Thank you, that's what i'm thinking about these Punk Bitches, LOL, The Tag Belt, LMAO!

  • i no at one point they had a fake big gold belt made for him, this was probably in the middle of that transition from the real big gold, to the fake big gold.

  • A match like this was a way to know that shawn micheals was always destined to be a star to be able to have a match like this with flair at this part of his career is amazing

  • yet everyone you just mentioned is far more successful then you'll ever be ya loser.

  • Which must mean they're great wrestlers >_>

  • i've been looking for this match for years!!!!

  • Why did wwf (back then) give Janetty a fair chance in a singles career too. He was as famous as HBK back then?

  • If I recall It was cause of an accident in the ring in which Marty severly injured another wrestler and tht wrestler sued the wwf. The heat alone woulda canned any singles run and was believed to be a huge part of the rockers split.

  • nope, Marty was having some issues outside the ring and left/got canned for a while, the plan originaly was for Shawn and Marty to have a match at Wrestlemania 8

  • Wasn't the outside of ring issues in question the lawsuit with Charles Austin. (well and an injury lol) I am not sure I admit that completely just remember hearing about it in a Marty shoot interview. I am fairly vague on the details though.

  • man i love how the announcer's put shawn over in this match=)

  • Great match, I liked Flair's music much better back then!

  • It's amazing what random no name matches could one day hold some of the biggest names in wrestling history.

For example, do you think Ric Flair ever thought that this "rocker" would be the man that retires him 17 years later?

  • Very true..I remember this match, but if someone said The Rocker Shawn Michaels as he was then would retire Flair 17 years later, everyone would have said they were crazy.

  • this was more then 17 years ago. this mustve been the late 80s

  • nope! 1992 to be exact, just before he became the heart break kid!

  • o ok kool thats my year!

  • Late 80's? lol, early 90's here, right before Shawn went Solo.

  • Honestly, I was thinking the same thing.

Matt Hardy vs Nikoli Koloff (sp?)

That's just 1 example I've seen on youtube. There's a lot more that have gone past me.

  • @BaronofBooya Ric Flair didn't retire.He wrestles in TNA.

  • @gtz1975 I know he's in TNA. But 16 years after this, HBK beat Flair in a retirement match. At that time, Flair belived he was retired. Just like when I wrote that comment, I belived he was retired.

  • @BaronofBooya I NEVER take any retirement matches serious. You can pretty much go down the list of just about ANY retirement match that happened in the past and just about EVERY wrestler who that's "retiring" in those so called retirement matches STILL continue their career as an active wrestler.

  • @BaronofBooya ur an idiot shawn michaels didnt retire him, its fake. lmfao WWE retired him douche.

  • @whiteboyrapping First of all, you need to work on your spelling & grammar before you can ever call anybody else an idiot. Second of all, Flair wouldn't have retired at Wrestlemania 24 if Shawn didn't beat him. With that being a WWE match, Shawn did retire Flair in the WWE. And third of all, it's scripted, not fake.
