Johnny did not look happy at the end of this program. I know from reading his book that he didn't like this program, and felt that the audience and the judges didn't really care for it either. I feel like it wasn't really him. Where are the flourishes? Where are the glitter and sequins? I like real Johnny better. :) Plus, in his book, Marina sounds like kind of a bitch toward him and his personality anyway.

He is as gay as pink ribbon. I wonder what Scott Hamilton( a noted homophobe. Just read his memoir) thinks of him?? For years Hamilton fought to bring some "manlyness" to mens figure skating by focusing on the more athletic side of figureskating.
HEhe. Do you think it can only be manly by focusing in the athletic side? And by the way what happens if he is gay? Im not a fan of his, but I think he is a very underrated competitior.
How non-feminine can you really get with figure skating? Compared to his usual style, this is really quite masculine. His posture was more upright, with an emphasis on his shoulders and less delicate flourishes. Not my favorite of his pieces, but quite beautiful.
you´re not right...I totally disagree with you.. technical sequences, yes they are important, but dont forget, that program has to has its own spirit, has to be performed, has to show something, left some message to the audience...and thats the reason why acting is crucial element on ice..this program is realy awsome and perfectly made...go johnny!
That was a laughably pathetic program. He should concentrate more on skating well and less on intentionally making controversial statements in a vain attempt to get attention. Athletes should get attention for the right reasons, for doing well, not for acting like idiots.
Exactly, he should get attention for doing well. Which is why he is making the statement that he isn't going to be as outspoken as he was last year, because some people took offense to it.
I don't have any problems w/ what he said last year and respect him for saying the things he did. I think the press/haters deserved every bit of it.Who cares if he did it for attention? The press are the ones who chose to report the things he said. He's just amused that the press cares about what he says & his opinions.

Well personally I think Weir is an absolute jerk. If you are referring to his drug joke, then I need to throw in my two cents. I don't think it's wrong to joke about that, hell, I do it myself several times. However, even though skating is technically an individual sport, you represent United States Figure Skating, and I think that one cannot make jokes like that when representing something so vastly larger that oneself.
I was referring to the commentator stating that he said "spins are ugly" - shouldn't he be more focused on his skating rather than making comments like that; and I completely agree that his drug joke was inappropriate because of the time and place that it was said - at an event where he was representing the US figure skating team. More importantly, he's an athlete and athletes should be role models not bad examples.
I'll admit that he didn't skate very great here. You probably didn't know this is his first time ever trying this program. He was very focused going into this competition, and he said it himself after his short program in his interview. It was just because it was the first competition and he was off.
Okay. He is a very good skater. I think we should judge him by his skating rather than what kind of person he is. His skating is the most important thing. It is why he is famous. It is his career. Lets focus on that.
Johnny Weir is a very good athlete, but he is a fop. And an irritating one, at that. Did anyone see the foto (I think it was a medal stand foto from Skate Canada) in which he is wearing some sort of headband that resembles a crown of thorns. What a jerk.

I wish he would wear some butt busters so at the end of the program the shorts would be all the way up his butt.

There were so many car wrecks that time. Johnny is amazing no matter what.

so in his fluff piece for this program he said he was going for a less feminine style. this is a beautiful program but still quite feminine
cupcakes217 3 years ago
It is beautiful. I find it kind funny that he was trying to go for a less feminine style. It's what makes him great! Luckily he can't escape it ;D

I think what she meant by easy is not refering to the actual triple jump, but how he executed it. Weir's gracefulness made it seem "easy"
selenity08 5 years ago
Am I wrong or did she refer to the second triple jump as "easy"? I don't understand how any triple jump can be "easy".
