having been a carpenter for the last ten years im not impressed by what you have just shown me, its less than half a job, where is the chisel work to finish?
Or perhaps she just doesn't have the physical strength to chisel large pieces without a hammer. When I have a big job to do, I rarely wear myself out by using brute force either - especially when there's an easier, just as effective, way immediately available.

I was expecting to see a half joint at the end of this. All I saw was a bit hacked out of a piece of wood.

if your chisel is sharp ....and I mean really sharp...scarey sharp....you don't need physical strength the wood will "surrender"
