  • I adore 'The Hunger'. Admittedly, it's not for everyone. Try watching it stoned, you may enjoy it more.

  • This video is more entertaining than "The Hunger" is. "The Hunger" would have made a great 30 minute short film. It has an interesting concept and unique feel, but it was a bit drawn out.

  • I don't get it... it needs more metal...

  • @therunawaysfan12 Yes, David Bowie is in this film

  • the sound of this video is terrible. not a bad song though

  • So cool. yes, its a scene from the film

  • stupid question: someone mentioned to me that david bowie was in this video. true or false?

  • goths are deaf the sound on this vid is terrible

  • Bauhaus - Bela lugosi's dead VERY.... VERY... GOOOOOOOD

  • Ahhh the Hunger and Bauhaus, the way it will always be for me. Twilight is ridiculous. I am a bit disappointed that PM would bother with that drone. But he's PM so ....

  • yea.. the golden oldies, Bauhaus..:.) The Hunger is better story than Twilight..!

  • Do you think the girl in Twilight is called Bella cos of this song?

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahhahahahhahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahhahahahahhaha

  • The author of Twilight is a big Muse fan so obviously a bit of a goth.

  • @Sandyhendry Muse is NOT, I repeat NOT a Goth band. They try awfully hard to be a ripoff of Joy Division but there are better bands out there at doing that.

  • @HailDarkened

In what way? Granted I haven't gone through the entirety of Joy Division's list of songs, but they sound nothing like Muse. I thought of the Strokes actually while listening to Joy Division.

  • Comment removed

  • @Sandyhendry Probably not, because they are talking about Bela Lugosi in the song; you know the famous actor who portrayed Dracula in the 1931 adaptation of the classic novel, not that unintelligent Stephanie Meyer piece of puke.

  • @HailDarkened. I mean she named Bella in Twilight after Bela Lugosi. The books aren't that bad actually but the films are a bit cr@p. I find Muse pretty pompous. They aren't very much like Joy Division though! More like Queen :)

  • la mejor pelicula la mejor cancion y la mejor banda

  • Bauhaus! The band that started it all!

  • LOVE THIS VID!

  • Peter Murphy told an interviewer that this was one of Bauhaus's first shows. The scene was filmed at HEAVEN, the big gay club in London. Incidentally, the live DVD of the Eurythmics (the old one, not the PEACE tour) was filmed at HEAVEN.

This film is required viewing for Goths. You can't be a goth if you haven't seen it. It's against the rules.

  • QFT. I guess I wuz goth bfore it was goth heheh >]

  • No, you can't be a Goth if you weren't a Death Rocker in the 80's. It's against the rules.

  • Hehe, sarcasm ftw.

If you are serious, you're being more elitist then the elitists!

  • I am being elitist. There is no point in calling something "Goth" when it's already called "Death Rock". And it belongs to my generation, not yours. And I'm not a Death Rocker.

    Go get your own culture.

  • You sir, are an idiot.

    Nuff said.

  • Actually, no. I'm not. Are you saying it's not called "Death Rock"? Are you saying it was invented in this generation?

    I didn't think so.

  • I havent said anything about Death Rock or Goth at all.

Either way, if you want the scene to endure, you will have to accept newcommers. (That doesnt imply for mallgoths)

Anyway, i'm not calling myself a goth. I'm just a guy with a different state of mind and a taste for dark music. If its called goth, then so be it.

And what makes you think later generations are not allowed to follow your little "culture"?

    Seriously, grow up.

  • It's not my culture. I was never a death rocker. If I had your attitude when I was a teenager, I would have been listening to my mom's Pat Boon records, and going to sock hops. It was 25 years ago. I was there; you weren't. Invent something new... I'm getting bored.

  • Death Rock is a part of Goth these days. goth is a subculture based on music. Like gothic music? Guess what, your a goth wether you like it or not.

You down own the subculture, so youve got nothing to say about any of us.

You've got zero life, you know that?

I'm through with this. Have a nice day, idiot.

  • Like I said, get your own culture kid. You're a parasite.

  • You're just annoying. No one gives a shit about your seniority or elitism. You're probably twice my age and I am as annoyed with you as I would be with some 16 year old know-it-all.

Why don't you fucking retire already and leave the present and future to those of us who probably know more about your generation's music than you do, and those of us who can still make the music you wish you could you ole fuck.

  • If there was a future, I'd gladly retire. Music hasn't budged in 25 years. I'm bored.

    DO SOMETHING NEW PLEASE!!!

  • @manualsexdrive

ah ouais t'as tout compris à la life. C'est bien. Sache que les anciens sacrifiés à Saint Mihiel et en Artois ont sauvé ton pauvre futur espèce de dégénéré.

All you could wish is a lonesome fist kill. Sérieusement, arrette de nous casser les burnes avec tes ambiances de jeunes à 2-balles. Osef des générations. Tu aime Hunger ou pas, Bauhaus ou pas, tu le dis mais ne nous pond pas un complexe pourri sur les générations.

    A bon entendeur...

  • Death rock is just what they called old school punk bands that began to adapt a darker sound. There are plenty of bands who fit into both goth and death rock categories, not that it even matters. WHO GIVES A SHIT??

  • If you were a Death Rocker, you gave a shit.

A death Rocker is a kind of Punk. A Goth is a kind of hairdresser.

  • Or not.

Gloria mundi didnt sound gothic, they dressed the part, giged with bauhaus and bauhaus copied there style of dressing.

So a suggestion, dont be all cocky when you are wrong...

  • A suggestion, go listen to gloria mundi on their myspace, and then say they didn't sound gothic.

  • Could do that, or i could listen to the actual records, or i could spin them in clubs hmmm or wait a second, already done that...

  • Wait, yeah, me too. Got a problem with it? Joy Division was a post punk band, sure they set some standards for the goth scene, but not alot of them actually.

  • Well mostly i got a problem with your nick...

    Och du vet varför jimmy....

Well the discussion wasnt about Joy Division...

  • What? lol

The discussion eveloped from Joy Division.

  • So?

Gloria Mundia was what we were speaking about now...

  • A must for the video/dvd collection of any Bowie/Bauhaus or vampire film fan. The seduction scene between Susan Sarandon and Catherine Denueve is classic.

  • ...If Rick James referred to Charlie Murphy as 'Darkness', do you think he would have referred to Peter Murphy as 'Brightness'??! lol!

  • (worships)

  • damn...i forgot how cool that was....it was great to be a kid then..

  • I saw this on TV the other day :)

  • Am I the only one who gets excited seeing this? I only watch the movie for this beginning

  • Yeah the rest of it sucks

  • I am a BowiePhile.

  • I worshipped this movie in high school. I even had an outfit just like Catherine Denueve's that I wore clubbing in the 80's... sunglasses and everything.

  • music from one of my favourite movies!Love it!

  • the actual film is sweet :) this part is in the beginning

  • Sweet! I just mentioned this cameo in another posting. These guys imo are the fathers of modern goth and since I'm almost 40 thats sayin alot about how long the scene has been around. Post JOy Division of course, gotta give them props for being the first.

  • I'd rather put Gloria Mundi as first, really.

  • Hmm, I dont think you can. Gloria Mundi is around circa 1978. Joy Division founded from warsaw around 77 and of course if you count warsaw then your way back to 75-76. Gloria Mundi was right there too but just not first.

  • Gloria Mundi sounded gothic to begin with, Warsaw was a PUNK ROCK project, and nothing else. Fuck off. I know more than you.

  • Alright little poser kid. You know dick. I was listening to this shit when you were in diapers.

  • Your mother knows dick.

  • Just a little thing, Gloria Mundi put out there first record 77´....
