Gene epitomizes what these guys were back then, daredevils and men willing to go to the moon even if it cost them their lives. Very special men.

Out of all the Apollo astronauts Gene Cernan does the best job effectively describing the experience of going to the moon. Unlike some of the others, he clearly has a genuine appreciation for the wonder and privilege of that experience.

@FantasticBob7000 I could not agree more...He is still glowing with the pride and dedication of that era AND has the intellectual mind to give you an impression of how it was like to be where no man has been before.

Neil Armstrong spent only 2h20 min on the surface of the Moon...Gene spent 72hs there! No wonder that his memories are more vivid...his Biography is a book that I read over and over-probably the most entertaining of the available Moonwalker-books.
