It would actually take probably 96 hours for the UK to be in a position to strike a lot of places, correct. However, the USN certainly is not capable of hitting anywhere within 24 hours, regardless of what you have been told.
In nuclear terms, yes, the UK can strike any country within 24 hours. As can several countries. Nothing special about the USN other than it's size, I'm afraid. It's tech certainly isn't the best and the training is only standard.
in 1982 the Royal navys forward attack fleet made up of over 30 major war ships set sail in under 24 hours. although it did take a while to reach the falklands. the UK can respond just as fast as the USA can, but in smaller numbers
The Nimitz Class were designed in 1968, there the most dated carriers still in service, and i think you'll find the Type 23 Frigate and the Type 45 Destroyer are the most advanced anti-sub & anti-air ships in the world..
The Gerald Ford Class will be out before the Queen Class.I would say the the type 23 and type 45 are good.however they are not better than the Aegis combat system which is used on some of our cruisers and destroyers.

Not always true sailingforde04...Its not the size that counts. Look at the size of the United States Navy and ours. They have more ships in just one class then we have in our entire fleet! Yet we can still match them on the open waves, and that is one reason why they have massive respect for our Sailors. In my experience with working alongside the US Navy, they have been amazed at how capable we are considering our size as a fleet. Our Royal Navy has a great history and will continue to do so!!
The US navy is bigger but perhaps you should do some more reasearch. Recently they have had to wtihdraw quite a number of guided misile frigates and destroyers from sevice because they were in a too poor condition to put to sea. Our fleet meanwhile is in brilliant condition. I appreciate we are smaller than we should be but I believe it is better to have a smaller , and better conditioned fleet rather than a fleet where vessels are pulled our of service because they are completely worn out

As I said, the mercantilistic nature of the powerful nations has become more systematic.They have invented for their benefit bodies like NATO,UN,IMF. As you know they "stabilise other countires as a group" . For me this is the same old ball game that happend 100yrs before but with a nice concept. the problem isnt the navy its the british government who would rather spend the money on themselves its just greed pure and simple. The ministry of defence actually spent £30,000 on new chairs about £250,000 on art and so on. in the papers there was a wounded british marine who lost both legs and was given £15,000 compensation and there was an office worker for the government who hurt her thumb and was given around £485,000 compensation. fucking british government only think of themselves.

to me, (and i am australian so im not from UK or US), The royal navy is better, they invented the harrier and they have very modern warships and submarines, i think they are the most advanced in the world. As for the yanks, they have good technology and more vessels, they are both simular anyway

It would actually take probably 96 hours for the UK to be in a position to strike a lot of places, correct. However, the USN certainly is not capable of hitting anywhere within 24 hours, regardless of what you have been told.
In nuclear terms, yes, the UK can strike any country within 24 hours. As can several countries. Nothing special about the USN other than it's size, I'm afraid. It's tech certainly isn't the best and the training is only standard.

in 1982 the Royal navys forward attack fleet made up of over 30 major war ships set sail in under 24 hours. although it did take a while to reach the falklands. the UK can respond just as fast as the USA can, but in smaller numbers

The Nimitz Class were designed in 1968, there the most dated carriers still in service, and i think you'll find the Type 23 Frigate and the Type 45 Destroyer are the most advanced anti-sub & anti-air ships in the world..

how come injuries in the army are reported more than injuries in the royal navy which rarely ever get reported. I'm guessing its to keep recruitment levels up. After all the navy is the governments most vital defence. I would like to hear what kind of injuries have occured lately in the royal navy. I think it is wrong to hide the true facts from the public or potential recruits

Not always true sailingforde04...Its not the size that counts. Look at the size of the United States Navy and ours. They have more ships in just one class then we have in our entire fleet! Yet we can still match them on the open waves, and that is one reason why they have massive respect for our Sailors. In my experience with working alongside the US Navy, they have been amazed at how capable we are considering our size as a fleet. Our Royal Navy has a great history and will continue to do so!!

The US navy is bigger but perhaps you should do some more reasearch. Recently they have had to wtihdraw quite a number of guided misile frigates and destroyers from sevice because they were in a too poor condition to put to sea. Our fleet meanwhile is in brilliant condition. I appreciate we are smaller than we should be but I believe it is better to have a smaller , and better conditioned fleet rather than a fleet where vessels are pulled our of service because they are completely worn out

I take it you aren't aware that our Royal Navy only has 1/3rd of it's blue sea capable warships functional at any one time? If we had procured the full 12 type 45s (now 6 + 2 if requested) and both new supercarriers go to completion then I'd come back and agree with you.

I know that I mean over the past 20 years the Royal navy has recieved some massive cuts in the past years I completely agree with you the cut of the effectively 6 type 45 destroyers was stupidity and I feel that the type 42s should be comprehensively rebuilt and refitted effectively they are all the RN need. And the invincible class aircraft carriers should also be refitted bringing our carrier force to a total of 5 We need to return to the 1920s and 30s attitude of refitting not decomisioning

yeah but as the aircraft carriers themselves go they arent very big, They dont hold enough aircraft compared to some carriers to make them seriously threatening, still powerful and not to be pissed about with but lets face it they need replacing with the larger ones, specially consdering one of em broke down not long ago! one of the most important parts of our navy and it broke down that to me is a serious signal the class is reaching its sell by date :(
