Kid has talent for Florida. It would be interesting to see how the kid does against some equal talent while having players of equal talent on his team. For all those guys ditching him about passing, who on this video can he pass to. Hardly any of them can skate. We have the same problem up here in Canada, but most kids in Atom (US Squirt) can skate like this kid and a few are considerably above that.

@martintruex1 fyi-THIS VIDEO IS OF HIS HIGHLIGHTS before HE EVER PLAYED TRAVEL HOCKEY--THESE CLIPS ARE FROM "HOUSE" LEAGUE PLAY, I.E., REC LEAGUE. since this video was posted FOUR YEARS AGO, he is now 13 and playing AAA travel, but certainly no one has ever suggested these clips are AAA hockey. Not sure where you got that idea. But, either way-- nice clips of your kid, too. I won't presume to judge you or your kid.

I have considered letting my son tryout for AAA but the nearest team is 90 minutes away from us. Our city only has A and AA. Bot sure I'm ready for that commitmene yet. We were begged this past year by the AA coach, but were worried about bench time so we chose A. Turns out, we ended up having to play our AA team in a tournament, and my son skated...

I have seen players like this many times in mites and squirts they can only do this against the weak teams, when they are faced with adversity they can't score or play this great. They get shut down every shift. Then they get to pee wee and the hitting begins. Lets see video of this kid actually doing that against players who are going to actually play defense. It looks like he is skating around a bunch of pylons!

I would say that he needs to stop winding up for so long, and fire it a bit quicker. If defense was any good (other team D was horribad and their coach should be fired), he wouldn't get as many of those shots off. Pick up his skating speed (compared to other squirt leagues it was like watching this vid slow motion), and work on wrist and snap shots would be good. If they allow slap shots, then work on that too. Great potential with this kid, just speed him up!

Minnesota and Michigan hockey is right up there with Canada hockey. Sure, the majority of the US is terrible compared to Canadian or European hockey, but Michigan and Minnesota are probably the only two with legit competition. A lot of star NHL players grew up playing in Michigan such as Ryan Miller (the whole Miller family in general), Patrick Kane, Mike Modano, Brett Hull, Brian Rolston, Brian Rafalski, John Vanbiesbrouck , Doug Weight, etc.
