The primary motivation is to know the great one who made the universe and better understand our place within that universe to obtain his perfect console on how best to live. Jesus performed many miracles and they still crusified him, some even thought Jesus was mad. In the greater context of multiple religions it makes sense that only a small subset of the thousands of worlds religions if any are fairly acurate. However, I do not see this as a major hinderance to belief in God.

God doesn't send you to hell as some awful time-out session that lasts an eternity, rather He allows the unrepenting sinner to have his or her decided separation from God. And if God would punish us horrible for eternity for the sins we have done , adnitting in the bible that because of Adam and Eve we are imperfect, then it would be God who was evil. Alsao, life is a gift from God, the bible says the wages of sin is death. So in order to be punished forever, one would need the gift of life, that makes no sense. Also hell is real, it is the grave, not a place of torment.

Hell is real. Hell is meant for the evil and wicked, regardless of rlilgion. According to Buddha these are the people who will go to hell:
1) Killing of arahat ( fully enlightened being)
2) Killing of one's father
3) Killing of one's mother
4) Commit schism (to divide the Buddhists)
God is basically an unenlightened being, who can save and kill at the same time. God can still go to hell
Buddha is fully enlightened and will not kill any more.
To say that atheists go to hell, is a lie.

But I have another challenge for you.
Please look into the word that is often (Mis) Translated as Forever or Eternal.
The Greek word is Aion or Aionos (Aiones).
You will find similar misconceptions with this word also.
Aion CANNOT mean forever or eternal since God created the Aions. There are future AIons. Past Aions,....etc

rr, I am a Christian and I do not believe in hell fire. Hell is simply the grave. I serve God out of love, not fear. You should get your facts straight before you make outrageous claims. Not all Christians believe in hell fire. Also, I do not obey any church, I try to obey the bible and I am quite capable of reading it for myself. That is something more people like you need to do. That way you would know that God is not going to give life to evil people and they have to be alive to burn forever.
