  • Forgot to mention that DANUBE also has a very catchy fiddle part, although slavic rather than Irish.

  • Hunt out the 12" "DISCO MIX" (MCAT 666) for the better mix of this. You tube is amazing at bringing what i always considered to be compleately obscure tracks to the public's ear and eye! LOVE that Irish fiddle!!!!!!!.,again,MUCH more pronounced on the 12" mix.

  • Thank you..thank you..thank you...thank you.!! Sublime... One of my favorite albums..Nice solo, Mr. Donnal Lunny, sir.

  • love it TK"S............

  • Well, the whole album was about top secret matters. We all had a ball working on it all, and "Keep it to yourself" was certainly one my favs.

  • @officialwallybadarou Great to hear from you!

  • This sounds like something that should have been in a James Bond movie.

  • This one of those LPs that should have defined the time. Everyone was in some kind of stylistic clique back then and "M" was just the "Pop Muzik" guy.

I'll never forget playing this over the PA during the later hours of an all night inventory. Halfway through "Working For The Corporation" the staff was either rolling on the floor laughing, or screaming for mercy.

  • I can't exhale from the moment this record starts until the last note. Dark and edgy, prophetic, brilliant..Orwellian..ahead of it's time..what a treat to hear this again! Merci!

'The Official Secrets Act'...If your liked the movie 'Brazil', this album explores every dark corner of the macabre world of 'Big Brother out of control'...bravo, Robin Scott!

  • The guitar part makes me think about the sound of Alain Bashung in the early 80's. Robin Scott is great !

  • Amazingly ahead of its time - and what a shame no-one taped the half hour special M did with this album on TV: some great videos lost to all time...

  • @davidlloyd14 I did record the M Showcase I think it was called, on our old chunky video back in 1980 when I was 15 and watched it many times but then vhs came onto the market and as our old video recorder broke we replaced with vhs. It was difficult back then to transfer the tapes and I did look into it but found out some years later my mother had chucked my original tapes away without asking me otherwise would certainly have spent money to have those recordings transfered since then!

  • @funkyboymarksamples I can remember the video for this 'Keep It To Yourself' had an M shaped bed in a kind of seductive bedroom and the video for 'Relax' was also very memorable too with the psycho dentist. Some of the videos from the show were tracks from the previous LP, I think both 'Moonlight And Muzak' and 'That's the way the money goes' were included and I have hazy memories about the images for the last one. The transmission ended with Working for the corporation as far as I remember.

  • @davidlloyd14 and of course the title track had Robin dressed as a secret agent spy and I seem to think he was in an office searching through papers. These were quite intelligent groundbreaking themed music videos before mtv was underway so it is a shame nobody seems to have the recordings. Has Robin Scott declared the video clips are lost, I'd be surprised if he didn't try to obtain recordings at least even a few years after the broadcast, being the creative genius he is!

  • @davidlloyd14 I presume it was broadcast by BBC as I don't remember any adverts but can't remember for sure. The BBC are known to have destroyed recordings from their archives but a music show from 1980 is surprising as they still have all 'top of the pops' or most of them from 1976 onwards. If anybody has any additional information would be great if you could leave a post!

  • thanx for these m posts !! i had this on cassette and no one new who i was talking about!!

  • I actually own this vinyl, love it.

  • What album is this from???? I thought they only had one album!!!! I want it...i NEED IT!!!!

  • It's from 'The Official Secrets Act' album.

  • @CJLifeguard I just found a CD copy on ebay. Looks like you can get the vinyl too if you want.

  • Yay! Thanks for posting - this is a terrific track. I'd worn it out from my LP. Only 64 views at the time of writing, so I hope more people get to hear this blast from the past.
