I must say...this is probably the best review for this movie I've ever seen.
However, I really disagree with the score, I definately found it annoying, like a scratching or itching noise that just sounds like grain against grain. I also didn't really approve of the ending, I understand that in a movie titled "There Will Be Blood," there'll...probably be blood, but the ending's violence was not needed but, they really put a new light on this: capitalism vs religion founding the country.
It's not so much Daniel Plainview went insane it's more that he got Eli Sunday back for downright embarrassing him in front of his congregation.
After that whole "I've Abandoned my child!" part you could tell Daniel wasn't going to rest until he got this guy back. Someone told me that they thought he was so stewed that he would of done what he did to Eli to anyone that night but I think not.
I do agree with most thing you two have said, but I didn't like Paul Dano at all. His limitations were pretty clear. But so what? He was playing with the best actor alive!
I thought Dano was good, but I have to agree with gcsilva to an extent. He has some serious limitations, but he still sold me on the part, especially the last scene.
Yeah I really want to see this movie as well. It went wide according to IMDB on December 26th and it isn't playing anywhere around me..it's pissin me off.
Actually it turns out it's playing in only 2 theaters in the country right now: one in LA, one in NYC. It should expand in the next few weeks, though. The wait will be worth it.
Never seen like this before.......nice quote, WOW, you guys are fucking average, jesus!!!!

I was really unsure of how I felt about this until I woke up the morning after and realized what a total masterpiece it was.

awesome review !!! ...i can't wait for this film to open in Orlando, FL
p.s. -- what did you guys think of "i'm not there" ??
idiotwind75 4 years ago
I'm Not There - better and more ambitious than the typical music biopic but hard to figure out. If I was a Dylan fan I'd probably love it.

This is my current favorite movie right now. I don't see why a lot of critics don't like the ending.
ce11ard00r 4 years ago
I can kind of see why, because it's so over the top...but I think Ken and I are agreed it's the most awesome scene in the movie.

Yeah, it really was nothing like the rest of the movie, and showed how crazy Daniel had become.

Do you think so? I was pretty mesmerized by Eli Sunday. Dano's no Day-lewis, like you say, but I was impressed.
