  • Sweet game.....i was obsessed by this when i was young... only got past the marshmallow man a couple times and when i did i died up the top cause i crossed the streams...... :(

  • $5000 reward for saving the city! WOW!!!!!!

  • Come on guy's let's face it, it was all about the music. Screw the gameplay, have a soda stream and a buscuit and crank the tv volume up!

  • What? No Conglaturations??

  • So there was an ending... amazing, thanks!

  • HE SLIMED ME

  • I never completed this game, i never got past the stay puff bit!!! first time ive ever seen the ending

  • so glad I quit playing that game, I'd have been really pissed off with that lame-ass ending...

  • Sorry losers.. but NES version is BEST. screw commodore 64!!!!

  • @steveparok00 fuck off idiot

  • So wonderfully American: the ultimate aim of the game is not really to save the world, but to make a profit with your franchise so the bank doesn't foreclose on you.

  • Oh I miss that voice! Same from Impossible Mission.

  • holy jeez..lol,I wrapped this game so many times in junior high..good times

  • Who wrote down the account number? . . . . . . Just in case!

  • Das war so geil das Spiel -3

  • Owen.. you used the cheat.

  • Glad to know the city coughed up 5000.00 for closing a portal that spelled ultimate doom...

  • what the... this ending is worst than the new games!

  • well atleast they spelled congratulations right.

  • oh, it's a different strategy employed to get past marshmallow man here.

in the sms version, you've got to go sideways into the building at the entrance he is protecting.

  • thanks to you, OWEN, I dont have to see any more of this wretched excuse for a game...

  • fuck this game sucked so bad.

  • The bank will raise your credit limit... Epic. Best end ever

  • And to think of all the time and effort it took me to get this far only to get splattered, argggghhhhhhhh!

  • That big white bastard stamped on me more times than I dare remember

  • haha the laughter of the stay puff is epic

  • @f8j3jn

It's not Stay Puff laughing. It's the other Ghostbusters laughing at you.

  • 8 bit Stay Puft looks like a cross between a ginger bread man,and the Pillsbury doughboy. The games were fun,but god Commodore games had horrible graphics.Great post!

  • @PrevueGuideChannel

For the time, the 64 had the best graphics of any mainstream 8-bit machine other than the top-end Ataris.

  • @KaitainCPS You are right, for it's day,Commodore 64 had great graphics.I was just commenting on how cheesy the graphics are by today's standards.I still have a Commodore, and occassionally plug it in to play games.

  • DAMN ! I remeber playing this as a kid !

  • Ahhh, the old Activision

  • Nice job, Owen.

  • That was anticlimactic.

  • I remember playing this .

  • yay sprites!!

  • haha ja lacht nur c64 war einer der besten für spiele emulatoren überhaupt

  • GWAAAAAAGHGHHGH!!! :D

  • shame this video isn't available in HD.

  • game designers didn't respect gamers in those days

game creator: no1. "maybe we should design a proton pack scene where kids can blast a giant staypuff marshmellow man"

game creator no1. "nah lets just make him dance a gay dance infront of a shitty pixelated building"

  • @LAHrebirth It was more like, "Maybe we should design a proton pack scene where players can blast a giant Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Oh wait... We have keep the game under 64KB."

  • Looks like Stay Puff is doing some type of Mexican hat dance.

  • beats NES ending.. Conglaturation!! you have beaten a great game!

  • And that was all? "Okay, you made it! Get off with another few bucks and start replaying"... poor ending! I expected at least some great gfx...

  • @SlightlyDeath Just be glad it wasn't the NES ending.

  • loved this game, i played it all the time when i was a kid....Commodore was the best game machine in the 80s

  • The money awarded the player; can you actually use it in the game?

  • OH yeah!!! OWEN, you saved the city, here... $5000...

  • Look at the City's PK rate - it's over 9000...

  • What a lame ending

  • NOBODY STEPS ON A CHURCH IN MY 8 BIT TOWN!!!

  • I just found all of my old C64 games, including this.. I never got past the damn Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man when I was a lil kid in the 80's. I'm tempted to get a C64 just to do it, but I might be nervous and scared still haha!

  • Made it past Stay Puft multiple times.

Most dreadful moment of the game. Win or FAIL!

  • I love the fact that the objective in this game wasn't actually to save the world, it was to increase your line of credit from the bank.

  • terrible graphics i know it was 30 years ago but technology has advanced so much since then

  • At least they spelt Congratulation right.

  • @TheBrandonRegan well activision wasn't Japanese :P

  • @Zontar82 But look at the NES ending of GhostBusters(also made by Activision) the ending is full of errors.

  • The sound at the end says it all.

  • Whew. I remember getting all 3 guys through that door (I usually snuck in from the left while he was jumping over to the right). Got enough dough to buy the Porsche or whatever it was the next time I played, only to find out that it couldn't carry as much equipment as the blue station wagon, making it pretty useless.

  • @ladulaser

    Yeah, the Porsche was shit.

  • WTF was that?!? That's not worthy to be called a f**king ending!!! Who's the dumb@ss that created this?!?

  • @TheStupidlyRandomGuy

David Crane, one of the legends of video game production. Co-founded Activision, now the world's biggest developer, and revolutionized game design with "Pitfall".

You probably think Beatles songs are shit as well.

  • Commodore blows the Xbox out the water! what a machine!

  • "City's PK level: 9999" Are Ness and Lucas there or something? XD

  • City's PK level: Over nine THOUSAAAAAAAAND!!!!!!! Rofl

  • was this the ghostbusters where at the beginning you had to go down the sewer on a rope. i couldnt even get past that level.

  • worst game ever

  • it looks like a pissed of pilsberry doughboy

  • Im 12 and this is shit

  • @cymrutube3 Go play COD Black Ops

  • wassat

  • @cymrutube3 In 30 years kids will say exact these words to todays games. ^^

  • @cymrutube3

12 year olds are fucking dumb. They have no sense of context or history.

Don't worry, you'll gain insight and perspective as you get older. And then you'll be the one who's amazed at how stupid the 12 year olds are when you're an adult and the next generation of know-nothing kids are whining at you with their clueless opinions.

You won't believe me now, but you'll remember this post when you're older.

  • and also, look it Activision its a brand that now made Rome Total War and The Elder Scrolls series. :)

  • i love to music.

  • had to type an sys code to get this to work, remember u made money to upgrade your car... hmm sounds familiar??

ps. that cry sounds like the one from beach head 2

  • Great video! It seems that Commodore has started to make a new version of the C64, with some more modern features.

  • @SynthPlaysYou Wow, really? Where did you hear that? Can you please message me a link to the article in question? I miss my Commodore 64... it was the coolest!

  • Hell yeah, this game was the tits, you'll get a like from me.

I remember playing this when I was a kid but I'm not sure if I ever beat it.

  • DONT CROSS THE STREAMS!

  • I loved how you could customize the car.

  • Loved this game!!!! Was so proud of myself when I finished the game!!

  • when i was child, i was afraid of the scream "GHOSTBUSTEEEERS UAUAUAUAUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! "

  • Excited ass marshmallow

  • 0:42

    MYEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • this is shit

  • @rocksoliddude1 why?

  • Please do me a favour.Would everyone stop talking about the commy as though it is obsolete.Im still using mine as we speak.Ive just been on ghosts and goblins and defender of the crown. Now if you really want to help me does anyone have the zzap64 issue with the map for mastertronics S.O.S. game.

  • @suzukix5owner Wish I still had my commodore 64, played some C64 games on my pc but it doesn't feel the same without the joystick and tube tv LOL

  • @suzukix5owner

remember the comic strip in the back of zzap - one was called "Terminal Man" and the other one was about an arcade game that brainwashed you when you played it. ahh the good old days.

  • @LulaJake Did you know all the zzap crew got back together a couple of years ago and made a new one off issue off zzap free to download.check it out.

  • I like this ending.

  • lolz- I was the only one in my family that could get past the marshmallow man. Thanks for the memories !!!

  • thanks for the 750k code owen

  • @suzukix5owner Lol!

  • @suzukix5owner You mean the code at the end?

If it works, i`ll fire up my C64 emulator and this game :)

  • Fuck getting to the bit where you go under Stay Puff would make me nervous as hell, you'd play the whole game to get to that point and you knew if you fucked it up no save points or shit like that. My hand would shake from nerves on the joy stick. Back in the day when games were fuken tough and unforgiving, rewarding as fuck if you got 2 of them through that fukkers legs

  • @ironmaiden123654 Yea it was really stressful. Even leading up to the final stage was nerve racking when the ghosts started moving fast and you had to press "B" just at the right time or Stay Puft would trample the city.

  • @Bezowski Never got past that bit, so annoying. At least I finally get to see what happens if you do, so cheers for posting! :)

  • @Bezowski I used to get a huge erection from it, had to wank myself off if I got through!

  • @ironmaiden123654 I miss those unforgiving games kinda... these days you have cheatcodes for everything, savepoints for everything, etc etc.

Games like this and Ninja Gaiden (nes) tested your nerves to the limit

  • @ironmaiden123654 I got news for ya - Ghostbusters kinda had a cheatcode / savepoint too. I used to use the same name Owen and a specific account number that started me out with tons of money instead of starting from scratch. That said, I didn't have the interweb to look it up. It was word of mouth.

  • @ironmaiden123654 Yeah, you're right... it might well be true that PC and Apple's games are a thousand times more sophisticated and visually appealing, but back in the day when a gamer knew no different, you had to play with tenacity, skill and patience just to complete the most basic game. We'll never get that nostalgic feeling back again.

  • @ironmaiden123654 I feel your pain buddy. I never made it past Stay Puft. Neither did a couple of my joysticks.

  • I still have my commodore 64 and the ghostbusters game. By watching this video, it brought back so may memories for me. I need to hook it up and start playing again.

  • @BlackMidnight12am Wow... you still have your C64?? And it WORKS??? Cool. I guess it's not that surprising. I remember when we finally got rid of ours it was yellow with age but still worked. That was back when computers were built to last. Now they fall apart on us after 3 years (since they tend to be obsolete by then).

  • Atleast the ending didn't say Gorza

  • Nice to see the ending to the game after all these years. It was a completely shit game though.

  • The Marshmallow Man won't let Jews pass.

  • When this game first came out, it was the best thing ever! Ha HA Ha. Ahh.. how sad!

  • dont post ye details on line lol

  • HAHAHA!!!

Brilliant - i remember getting this far and blowing it big time - the nerves got to me!

  • I see you used the "Owen" cheat. I could never beat the game without it.

  • i never could complete this game, but after seeing this, i can finally put some childhood demons to bed

  • I remember c64. "Do you have an account?"

"Yes". "Whats the account number?" 458. Then you could borrow more money and buy the fastest car. But i never managed to earn money anyway. :(

  • 5000$!? What BULLSHIT. One guy gets killed, you still manage to take down the devil and you get 5000. How much is the minimum wage 50 cents?

  • I remember when I was kid you got a ghostbusters balloon with this game.

And in Amiga version of Terminator 2 you got a T2 t-shirt.

  • lol Wow

  • Was für ein schrott, aber Kult.

  • My father has an Commodore 64 :D

  • You don't even get a final boss? No Gozer fight?

  • @Leatherbubba I was thinking that myself.

  • I just realized that as a kid I was looking at a picture without knowing that many years later I would be there many times during a New York-visit. I mean if somebody back then told me: "In 20 years you will be right there between the church and the building..." I maybe would have answered: "What, I will be in a game...?". This is weird in a very nice way. I love the GB-movie!!

  • Main reason, why people coud not finnish this game was that they tried between the legs of marshmallowman. Notice, it stops when it is on land. there is plenty of time run in from other side. :-)

  • thx for share the end i had never seen it

  • Surprisingly, this was better on the C64 than on the NES.

  • @RkivUnderground

Why's that surprising? The NES was rubbish.

  • THIS GAME JUST SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I can't believe it's been 26 years now! Fuck, i'm getting old!

  • Hey thanks!

Now I know what I always made wrong. I always tried to capture the Mellowman.

  • what a fucking classic lol crapy but in that time it was the best graphic halelujiah

  • hey I bet on the side of the cassette it stated 'Written in 100% Machine Code'

  • Did remembering the name the player typed in ("owen") take up 99% of the C64's RAM?

  • There's not much to say about the ending. Cross the streams and that was it. This game was epic.

  • @Dave54600

    what a shit game.

  • $5000 for saving the world from a ghostbuster outbreak...ridiculous..ha

  • Cool to see the ending. Though somehow I think New York should pony up more than $5,000 for the guys who saved the city from Gozar.

  • stay puff likes to move it move it,

stay puff likes to move it move it,

stay puff likes to move it move it,

    he likes to--

    MOVE IT!!!

  • what the f you dont fight gozer what a load of BS!!!

  • @jojajo301 You do in the Sega Master System version :)

  • @SPeacock I know ive seen the sms version

  • @jojajo301 What do you think of it?

  • @SPeacock i dont like it

  • $5000 for saving the city?

    Just 5 Grand?!

    What a load!

  • Stupid Mr. Stay Puft! Always fucked my shit up!!

But i finally got to see the ending now some 26 years later! Yay!!

(someone back in 84 told me the ending was shitty even compared to 84 standards)

  • I had this for Commodore 64 AND Sega Master System but only completed the SMS version. It's funny how in the film, the 'Busters are at the top of the building BEFORE Mr. Stay Puft arrives. Remember, it's not something you see everyday!

  • I could never get past the shower part in this game, then again I was like 6 years old at the time.

  • it's the 80's ~ & stay puff doesn't break dance ~ ?:-/

  • I wrote that account number down.. hope it works :D

  • awesome thank u for shareing

  • i could ner do the stay puff part ty for showing me the ending

  • Never did it that way. Always stood right on the black dimension of the bldg on Stay Puft's left.

  • 0:13 hillarious.

  • They crossed the streams.

Or is that how the movie ended? I can't remember borderline senile now, lol

  • All this for $5000 in fake money.

  • i think ma mom saw him on the michlean tire commerical

  • my sons name is owen.

  • Damn, Owen made bank!

  • Thank You. . . . . Owen.

Another game that bugged the hell out of me back in the day. Now I know how it ended.

  • how about break dancin'... it's the 80's... hello *

  • If I remember right, you had to get 2 of the 3 characters up. Way back in the 80s I got to this point, was happy as hell, scored the first guy in, fucked up the second, then fucked up the third.

I was so pissed after all that gaming I didn't complete the thing that I never played the game again. Now seeing the shitty ending it gives me some solace..lol.

  • @ajptaylor ya dude i got to that point alot cuz i played the game alot cuz i loved ghostbusters but it did suck gettin that far and dying right there.

  • once games were harder

  • I never could beat that game... the Marshmallow Man always bankrupted me

  • Did you use ghost bait? You can stop him from destroying stuff with it.

  • I can't remember... was that the thing you attached to the car? Were you supposed to do something to use it, or was it always active? I'm pretty sure, by that point in the game, I usually had all the gadgets I could squeeze onto the hearse.

  • i think you had to hit space bar.

If you had the vacuum you could suck up the ghosts on the road to reduce/delay him from appearing.

i played the hell out of that game!

  • I remember sucking up the ghosts, but that really wasn't enough to keep him at bay towards the end of the game; the PK energy was mounting up fast at that point.

I don't remember for sure if I used the ghost bait. Maybe I'd better break out the C64, lol

  • I don't know the big white monster who is but is he a dancer:D:D He shows the Traditional Dance isn't he

  • Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. and yeah.

  • What? Big white monster? Have you not seen the film?

  • This version was way better than the NES version.

  • I remember getting this game when it came out for my Commodore 64. I think it cost $30.00. I don't remember it being so cheezy though, lol.

  • it's nice to see that you don't have to walk up all those damn stairs in this version.

  • @LeoKillian and his version is way better than the nes version

  • 0:42 best death cry ive ever heard

  • ha i would totally play that the 2009 game is pretty good too long live ghostbusters
