I am pro-life and have had the procedure. I, like ohstiger, want to know for sure what I am dealing with when the baby is born. It's a perfectly viable choice, and one I have the right to make without judgement.
Fair to say this is not a procedure considered by those who are pro-life, right? Due to the risks to the baby? Then why did Sarah Palin, a self proclaimed pro-life advocate have one?
Amniocentesis is sometimes needed to prepare for a bunch of different disorders. I just found out yesterday through an ultrasound that my baby might have down's syndrome or turner's syndrome. I am ony 19. So amniocentesis will tell me for sure. Nothing worng with that. And I am pro life. It is a less than 1% chance of miscarriage.
I hope all is going well. Just to let you know, my niece has Turner's Syndrome. She is 23 and fine. Girls survive this just fine, but I don't know about boys. Also, Jamie Lee Curtis has Turner's Syndrome and she is obviously OK. I wish you the best.
