that's truly amazing - we live in truly modern-times. I implore you - would you be so generous and tell me exactly where I could purchase a similar heat-gun : )'
Is the metal only able to return to its original shape so long as the original deformation was elastic? Or does this also work for plastic deformation as well?
you want some shape memory alloy ??? grab a pen , tear it a part , grab the spring , bend the leaving lights out of it , heat it up , and presto change o it pops back into shape
@nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn984 yes it is true , just don't tie it in a know or tangle it ,and if you try it please use some kind of metal clamps or something just don't hold it in your hand cause it gets red hot very fast and it is vrey painful
Because it is very expensive and it´s shape memory is about 8 %, and that is not enough for a car panel...and also the panel would cost 50 times more then new from an ordinary steel.
COOL!!! Where did you get that spring? I want one!

A shape memory alloy is an alloy that "remembers" its original, cold-forged shape: returning the pre-deformed shape by heating. - WikiPedia
