I'm surprised that it doesn't have an 8 speed automatic....perhaps will come with the 2015 update. Keeping in mind that Hyundai/Kia is on a 3 year update cycle.
Official pricing is $32k to start plus $875 dest. So basically $33,000. Not a bad car but Hyundai is a little off their nut with that pricing. That's not far off a Lexus IS or a CTS (more than an Acura TSX), and those cars have some cache. Plus you can get a the Sonata better equipped for $30k, and that has better gas mileage too. If it had another badge on it then sure $33k, but that Hyundai badge is supposed to come with a discount over more notable manufacturers.
I knew all along that Hyundai would eventually get every automotive manufacturers' attention! Now watch the Altima, Camry and the Accord become extinct......good job Hyundai/Kia and for keeping the prices reasonable as well!
@havolia127 Those brands won't go extinct although they will remain boring whiles Hyundai/Kia gets more exciting and hopefully their durability and reliability will be high.
@7477238 Purchased a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon v6 6 speed brand new and i put 68,000 hard driven miles and i do mean hard driven with no problems at all.....I do think about that car at times and the only gripe i had was that the engine, being a 2.7 liter needed to be a little more powerful.......they have solved that with the 2011-2012 Genesis coupe!
@havolia127 Hmmm that's reassuring you had no problems although the Tiburons are quite simple and straightforward cars, fast and fun though. I'd be curious however how the newest Hyundai cars will hold up in terms of durability over the next decade or so. I'm tempted to go look at a Hyundai Sonata 2.0T because my 2000 Maxima is getting up there in age and mileage but it's a trooper and keeps on running great so I'm not sure if I should pull the trigger just yet.
@havolia127 You only think Nissan, Toyota and Honda will "become extinct" because you live in US and only ever see the cars those manufacturers make for US only, and those cars are HORRIBLE in every way. By the way, Azera can't be compared to Altima, Camry or Accord...its a much bigger and more expensive car.
Keep it up hyundai! You have ACED in your Test. Really Indicates that you have done your Home Work Very Well! You need to Flat these Japanese Car Makers to the Floor! They are Blood Suckers as far as AFTER SALES & SPARES Costs are concerned! Congrats!
The 2012 Azera has a lot characteristics that resemble other brands but as a whole this is really just an improved more refined version of a Sonata, its styling is very close which isn't a bad thing either.
resemble other brands? you must be talking about american cars. all the new american buicks and chevys are trying to copy japanese cars from yesteryear. and they still suck...lol
The designs that Hyundai is coming out with..........Damn. This is like Honda 20 years ago, that's how Honda was, innovative and unique designs. Now Hyundai is the brand you get excited about when you hear about a re-design. Kudos.
I like the overall design. It's not overly Hyundai-ish. I like how they kept the lines of this one more simple and subtle. One thing that I would change though is the rear bumper. I think the surrounding of the exhaust tips could use a diffusor or something to break up the real estate.

I remember thinking Hyundai was so terrible. They've improved so much and their cars are just getting to be gorgeous. It's your turn Kia.
goofeewalden1 2 months ago
Gosh, I remember the old days when Toyota started a luxury brand, and it was coined a "poor man's luxury". Then Lexus boomed in sales.
This is the same path Hyundai is going through, and is going to be one of the best, if not the best, car brands.
TerryFilming 2 months ago
@TerryFilming So do you think they'll end up being an expensive brand over time?
goofeewalden1 2 months ago
@goofeewalden1 Definetely, Hyundai and Kia have increased so much in quality and luxury, it's unbelievable.

Finally, Hyundai has made some more attractive cars/SUVs. I'd like to see this car at the next auto show!

Great job Hyundai! Please make an affordable(25k-30k) awd or rear wheel drive 4 door sedan!
TheOhknows 3 months ago
@TheOhknows they did make one, its called the genesis sedan. starts at 29k for the v6. but you could get a low mileage used 2009 for cheap today.
